@@gregtuff4020 What? You had a easy time? Man I was playing engineer wrong then lol. I once completed the game as a soldier and it was a breeze but I thought other classes were cool too. So I chose an engineer and it felt underwhelming
@@jmswell6177 bro I always thought soldier was 1 of if not the toughest class to play as. It's the only one that doesn't have at least 1 really useful ability like charge, overload, and singularity with infinite uses. The soldier's specialty is in guns, and they run out of ammo. Sure I can use concussive shot to chip damage or knock someone down. But I'll need more than that to stop some mechs or brutes.
@@dfed324 Soldier in ME1 was ok but had its uses. But shined imo in the other 2 games. The ability to slow down time and melt your enemies is way too op haha.
The turning point for me on my opinion of the engineer class was when I realized they are the quintessential sorcerer in RPGs. They bring the elemental damage to the battlefield often times damaging rooms of enemies at once with their combos, and the combat drone itself is your familiar. I got so good at the class on the multiplayer mode of ME3, I wish they brought that back in the legendary edition, so underrated.
I just finished playing ME1 on Insanity difficulty as an Engineer class. I must say in the beginning there are some parts that are difficult (especially with this class). But once I really started leveling up, I'm handling enemies no problem. Overload is your friend, but to play this class you definitely NEED some biotic/combat squadmate combo to balance out the Engineer's tech powers. EDIT: In Legendary Edition, since all weapons were available ME1, I was mainly using AR and sniper rifles. Barely used the pistol. Which actually made playing as a Engineer even better. : )
I definitely agree! Overload was a lifesaver on insanity, I did the same thing with my weapons too, the other ones were just way more fun than just a pistol. Especially the Spectre weapons, I never played ME1 before the Legendary edition and they were a blast to use!
I absolutely think the hacking skills are the way to go. Picking a random enemy to fight for you can take so much heat off. And in 3, I would leap for joy when a engineer would show.
@DJCooL4, The only problem with ME2's drone is that it gets 1 or 2 shot by everything. I've died 50 times because the drone is taken out so quickly and the squad is terrible. I use Miranda and Grunt and they get dropped in seconds, I used Tali and Garrus and they never get dropped.
Cool vid, fam. Might be a super lame question, but what’s the song that starts at 2:47 and runs till about 4:46? I love that uplifting synthwave vibe. Thanks!
Engineers are, in ME2 and 3 at least, the easy mode of any difficulty setting. I found that aside from Insanity mode I could play almost the entire game without shooting, certainly there were almost no missions where I needed to pick up ammo, and most of the time didn;t even use a full clip. And while I didn't manage to get through insanity with any class on zero Shepard deaths I definitely suffered the least deaths by far with Engineer. In ME 3 I minimised my weapon load out to put cooldowns at 200% and there's no looking back. What I have observed is many people playing Engineer like a soldier with some neat different abilities and so completely failing to capitalise on the strengths of this class. When fighting geth alongside Tali it's almost comical to just sit and watch as the drones and turret and hacked geth do all the fighting for you, along with the occasional overload to help the minions out.
Great info. I played ME1 on veteran because the combat was so clunky, I almost enjoyed none of it. 🤣 Ten minutes into ME2 and I restarted on Insanity because I actually feel like I have a chance to succeed.
Glad you're enjoying them! The infiltrator is going up later tonight! The vanguard is actually the first class I ever used in Mass Effect so it'll be interesting to go back to it at the end!
Is it possible to play insanity as my first play through? I’m looking at trying to get the platinum trophy for it on one play. Just trying to find useful info & tips before I play. The last time I played me1 was on the 360 all them many moons ago. I can’t remember it tbh.
Very possible! It’s not locked so you can start it right up! My advice is to just take it slow, on insanity rushing gets you killed, so take your time and you’ll be fine!
May be the most powerful class in ME2/3 on insanity. Drone is fantastic crowd control and they have the best defense stripping and with cryo blast an additional solid crowd control, and in 3 they get combos. ME1 they felt pretty meh.
Hello 👋 so I'm trying to do the engineer class in mass effect 3 but it's my first time using it and I want it to be good. So I'm asking any one who has played engineer class before for advice on best powers, bonus power and weapons for the class please and thank you.
Just started a Engineer playthrough on 2, wanted to play sniper but didn't wanna go the same ol Infiltrator/Soldier route. Prob gona go with Tali/Legion or take Miranda for the squad buff for one of em if 3 drones is overkill/unnecessary
You might want to review that build to have a better time with engineer. If you use sabotage with +100% tech damage you can pretty much spam sabo>cryo>incendiary or sabo>over>cryo>incendiary. From what I've seen you also didnt take all the passives first for fast recharge speed of skills and unless you are playing as soldier and maybe infiltrator that is a must have together with higher survivability from shields and carry capacity. Weapons should be secondary and you are carrying a very, very heavy rifle with low damage potential compared to the capacity and weight. Your whole impression from comparing INFILTRATOR/ENGINEER might be massively affected by simply the weapons you are carrying. Example: Infiltrator you go Mantis (very high damage, low weight) and keep doing pot shots, versus shooting and doing nothing with an auto rifle like that one. If you just keep cover to cover with a low weight sniper like Mantis you pretty much don't need any active power in the game to win. With only passives you pretty destroy anything. Add that to giving Typhoon to your teamates with special ammo (like garrus) and it's an ez win. However, that is a very booring and uninteresting game (to play that way). At the gameplay you are also pausing very little, which means doing less combos with teamates, this all points to you making the game more difficult for yourself than it needs to be. I mean, if you want that, great, but it's not representative of the strength of engineer, I assure you. Also, warp ammo is bad as bonus power for engineer in my POV, bc it gives less damage potential since you can break barriers/shields in other ways.
Gonna disagree about ME2 Engineer being "at the back of the battlefield." Give Shep a shotgun, and he can get right in there! th-cam.com/video/TC1bT0b5uzE/w-d-xo.html
The way I took it was as a challenge, knowing I didn’t have any of the great damaging skill meant I had to take combat more analytically and I really enjoyed that part of combat. I just thought compared to other classes, there were parts I struggled with not having enough damage
@@ShadowSmith14 - I’ve played ME so many times, I was going through as a Soldier and was bored out of my mind, so I used a save editor and changed to engineer, and I’m enjoying it
Adept was difficult it's been a long time since I finished trilogy 16years but Adept was the most difficult for me. Infiltrator is piece of cake,it's boring cuz how easy is the game with him😉
Look PC TH-camrs videos they revive all teammates from distance & they say they show that they play insanity 🤣 I play insanity with ps5 & revive is not available at insanity from far away only at hardcore you can revive all team from far away.Ofcourse all games are easier for PC player's but here is too much. Most of them I'm sure the can play insanity only with infiltrator class lol!
Engineers are so underrated. The combat drone is so broken in ME2. They are great distractions. Overload is also really useful in the whole trilogy.
The combat drone even distracts Praetorians. It's insane. So soammable too.
I was really surprised on how the combat drone did so well! The highlight of the engineer by far for me!

Neural shock is amazing for organic enemies it's the only tool the engineer has to deal with organic enemies effectively

Get the asteroid omni tool early, it can boost your damage and cooldown to godly levels.

the trick to engineer in 2 and 3 is that the combat drone takes a lot of aggro and can be summoned right on top of enemies
