Coheed And Cambria - The Crowing [Live]

  • To me, Coheed doesn't really get any better than this, especially this song. Yeah, they play it a half-step lower, so they don't have to keep re-tuning guitars for GAIBSIV songs (and to save Claudio's voice), but it still sounds awesome.
I definitely bumped up the sound on the right channel with Claudio's guitar for the sake of balance, because whoever originally mixed this had Travis's guitar a tad too loud (don't worry, I like Travis too).
It's kind of weird watching this knowing that the band nearly fell completely apart a few months after this was filmed.

I miss the Spector bass sound they had back when. this is what got me listening to Coheed!

Also a new bassist who is no where near as good as Michael Todd either.

@@bigdoinks69 Zach is just as solid as Mic, he just has a more vanilla style. Less slappy bass sounds but he can PLAY.

@@bigdoinks69 zach is extremely talented, and this is coming from a die hard mic fan. Mics bass lines were way more noticable and unique than zach's, but no one could ever really fill his shoes. I still enjoy zach though. Just a different flavor

@@codyhansonbass yeah zach is solid but he is no Mic and he is just so damn plain and conventional which just isn't Coheeds style. He's a good bassist but to by the numbers for Coheeds imo

Yeah another major reason why this band was never the same after Michael Todd left the band. The current bassist you can't even hear him live or in the studio. This band was never as good as they were when Michael Todd played for them plus he was the main back up vocalist too.

Mic was and still is an inspiration to me within this genre. Can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent over the years playing these albums on bass.

Josh's kit always had that low end 'punch in the guts' feel that Chris' could never match. I'm so glad Josh is back in the fold now.

Although the Starland version rocked in terms of pure energy and rawness, you can clearly see how far the band has came since Starland was recorded. This performance is very refined and excecuted very well.
However, I believe many of the early coheed fans (and many in general) loved SSTB and IKSOSE:3 due to their aforementioned energy and rawness. I love this performance and I love seeing Josh back in the mix and Mic healthy. They are a progressive rock band, always moving forward as musicians

Just noticed the song in this video is played a semi tone lower than in other recordings.
When Claudio sings "there is no other way it could've been done" I think of all the variations in their vocals and guitar playing while it sounds overwhelming no matter how they play it. Love it.

@Aaronlm91 He's not bad. It's just on the ending, when he sings chorus, it kinda hurts Claudios performance. Because it sounds like he's doing it perfectly on his own. But with Mic singing, it kinda muffles it out.

I'm talking about the section at like 2:50-3:20 where the song changes tone. Now that I think of it, you probably can't call that a breakdown. And if so, its the most complex breakdown I've ever heard. That's just the first word that came into my head a the time.

the beginning of the dark period of Coheed, where Mic and Josh were nodding off, Claudio's voice was beginning to sound like shit, and Travis and Mic sounded like shit backing vocal-wise.
