Hi guys. My wife, myself and two young boys are going to do the exact same on a 482. We are in the older bracket too and will hopefully be in Australia end of November or early December. We have never been to Australia either but believe it is worth it. We are originally from the UK but have lived in Jersey in the Channel Islands for 10yrs where our boys were born, and came back to UK two years ago and feel that we don’t fit in. My wife has had a job offer which she has accepted and it’s now all systems go. We too are selling everything, including our house and cannot wait to be there!!

If one of you is looking for work, bear in mind that Dec/Jan is our summer holidays and jobs are not advertised.

That’s very brave of you to sell up and move on a temporary visa , supposing the path to PR doesn’t materialise ?

Ahhhh the Valley. I discovered it at around 18 as well. Never looked back. My friends and I had a ball. Bring back the 80's night clubs vibe.

Yeah, Kmart is my go-to as well, I'm not the kind of guy that needs to wear a branded T-Shirt that costs 80 bucks from Billabong when I can pay 12 bucks in Kmart for the same effect. I've been subscribed to these guys for a while, great to see them on your podcast. I sort of winced for a bit with the night clubbing daughter in the Valley, not with the daughter just with the Valley....all I'll say is, be careful.

All I can say is she'd probably have done the same in the UK, would that be any better? It's just like moving your kids to a different school if you don't like their circle of friends, they'll just make the same type of friends at the new school, all you can do is hope she grows out of that phase of life and finds something that motivates her.

I was in the same sort of situation. I got offered a job here in Aus. Sold everything and moved my family over on a 482. We didnt even have passports before this.

Moving to Australia was the best move. We came from South Africa to perth just under 3 months ago. And we are not going back. Beautiful country with endless opportunities ❤

Good lick with your move to Oz, BTW traditional Polish food is readily available here, so you won't have to miss out on that either 👍

As an old guy who grew up in a society where immigrants seem to flood in ,over the years I notice one common situation occur with every migrant families children , Their children were deemed immigrants by Australians including earlier immigrants and when the children visited the land of their parents they were referred to as Australian to which can prove very emotional for some. Every society can have a negative impact and only time can heal.

Ross I know everyone misses there families but if you just make a life for yourself here things settle down.We go back to the U.K. every year now after living here 50 plus years to see family ,and I can’t for the life of me think why people would want to go back. Its a Shit Hole.

Age 45? Millions of Indians get to migrate here over 45 from family relocation program. Most are in their 80s, being a certain demographic helps though. Need to be “tanned “ from the sun
