    Interesting to watch this video two years later and days after Tater takes the 2wd world championship with a TLR 5.0. Also interesting as I attempt to start running a TLR.

      Congrats to TLR and Tater. He had quite a few non TLR parts on that buggy, but it definitely can win races as-is with kit parts. However I could never get it to handle how I wanted and still have criticisms about the design which has not been updated in 5 years. I hope they make a 5.1 or 6.0 soon. It’s long overdue.

    with the servo, try taking the top brace off if you havn't tried already. ihad to replace the steering link and it was much easier to get in there with the top brace off.

    After I get more wheel time on the Yok, I'll try to follow up with pros and cons for it and explain some of the geometry differences and if they made a difference to improve my on track performance for 2WD buggy racing. I don't expect to get any track time until Feb '21 or later due to pandemic lockdown.

    What do you look for when buying a used RC buggy? I am looking for used but you can’t always tell from a few pics? I know how hard Ian on my cars. They are kept up but have had their share of crashes.

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Buying from someone you know helps a lot, or if you know where it was raced and how worn out things are. Check for play in hubs and arms and if the outdrives are grooved out from axle pins and that everything moves free and isn’t binding up or damaged.

    Great video and a lot of detail thank you man. I race a b6.2 and love the car. AE has been such a tough well built car but intrigued and interested about all the other brands as well.. looking at the yokomo that was realeased in 2019.. wondering when they will release the new version same with the B7.. for now ill wait till then before i decide to stick with AE or move to yokomo..

    Yokomo shop online has these in the 3.1 version for $86... Yes, $86. I wonder what the gig is. Blems maybe? They also have the YZ-2T truggy on sale for just $60. Was thinking of buying two just to have an entire parts truck for $60

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is cheap! It’s likely because they are old stock and unsupported now. A year or two ago Yokomo changed their entire branding names for their kits.

    Just bought a Mugan mbx7t hopefully I’ll have a chance to do some race with it this year , looking forward to your TLR drag build , I have two LCG no prep cars and been contemplating doing a Losi build🤙🤙

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I keep getting sticker shock as I'm tallying up the parts needed to do no prep drag conversions. Even the traxxas LCG way isn't as affordable as I expected once you start adding all the little things. For LOSI Exotek conversion you also need TLR 22 4.0 standup transmission, which I don't have and has been out of stock everywhere I've looked recently.

    • @franksluga8790
      @franksluga8790 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@netcruzer yes the LCG conversion can get pricey, but all you need is a good 3.5 to 4 poll motor and I’m shurr you have a programable esc laying around and gears are pretcheep. My first build coast ove $1000 but what a blast

    Fix that tire mounted the wrong way by putting a little acetone in a small tub, put the wheel/tire in there above it and seal it up. In a few days, the CA glue will soften up from the acetone vapors and you can pull the tire right off the rim. Afterwards you can wash the wheel and tire and remount it the correct direction.

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No and No. The YZ2 DTM3.1 was released since this, and now a new Super OffRoad 1.0 is coming (they are changing up the branding, still seems like a similar buggy as YZ2)

    Are yokomo replacement parts more expensive than losi?

    • @netcruzer
      @netcruzer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not that i've noticed, the parts cost is about the same. Parts availability for the Yok is non existent local, everything i'll have to order in. As opposed to the TLR or AE, most common parts are on the shelf at my local hobby shops.

    Stock servo mounts on the Yok are plastic and the aluminum upgrades on that car are SILLY expensive!
    I don't know why everyone want "easy" access to the diff... It's something you hardly ever need access to. Unless you're running on sand.
    I get a season or even 2 seasons on a diff! If built well with quality balls (ceramic), just set the firmness and run it. For me it's a set it and forget it thing in my setups.
    YZ2 wheels are the same as Associated fronts and rear.

    not sure why you are removing ball cups to adjust your turnbuckles.. one side is ALWAYS reverse thread so you just take your wrench and turn them...

    • @netcruzer

      Not to adjust, to service or to ensure a ball end is fully seated. They can back out from the rotational forces.

      @@netcruzer i don;t think i have ever paid attention to them or had any issues with them in the year and a half ive had the car.. however i carpet race mine.. its never really seen dirt... the other 2 issues tho.. the rear diff is MEH because once you set it its pretty much good for quite a while and its not something you are constantly messing with...the reason i HATED the TLR was the servo mount... i had the ball end break off the servo horn quite a few times and it was an absolute PAIN every time.. its ridiculous if your racing and your servo horn breaks and youve taken the car apart and put it back together MULTIPLE times and it STILL takes you 30+minutes to change the servo horn is NOT ACCEPTIBLE..

    The Yokomo kit front block is steel as standard and you might want to add the plastic support on the front as you run on dirt for a bit more flex and feel. Even on carpet the Yokomo team setups use stock plastic or some times hard plastic braces.
