- Jeff Ostroff reviews videos released by the U.S. Coast Guard of the doomed OceanGate Titan submersible wreckage sitting on the ocean floor just 330 yards from the bow of the RMS Titanic, which sank in 1912. The wreckage of the OceanGate Titan sub was recorded as rescuers salvaged the debris from the bottom of the ocean floor with the Pelagius Research ROV known as Odysseus 6000. The ROV Odysseus 6K is an easily transportable, extremely capable and deep-sea system that integrates into ships. The ROV supports executing time-critical search, rescue, and recovery operations.
This video shows the Ocean Gate Titan submersible from a titanium hemisphere nose cone and a piece of carbon fiber in the foreground.

Awesome videos as usual. I like channels that don’t use clickbait or repeat themselves in order to reach advertising times. I appreciate the fact that I don’t think I have ever seen one click bait title or bs as information.
Your vid goes black and no sound at the 12:26 point and stays like that throughout till the end,bummer..
at about 12:25 you dont have any video or audio. did you get a copyright strike???
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WHY IS THE VIDEO MUNTED!??!?!?!
jeff sound and video go out please fix
JEFF - you went black and silent a bit ago.
This episode brought to you by OceanGate.
🤣
@@TH-cam_username. this video ended about as abruptly as Stockton Rush's stupidity.
Video implosion
@@rbrobbi😂😂😂😂
Video black out and around 12:30 mark for me
Same.
Same
No it might be there, keep looking - OceanGate
Yupppp
There's part of a Star Trek episode at the end, around the 38:00 mark 🙂
I think the only think holding the Titan submersible together was Stockton Rush’s ego.
🤦🏽♀️
That and a rachet strap
🎤 drop
And it was quite fragile as we have come to find out
And pride
Love the random Star Trek clip after 20 something minutes of blackness. Top tier.
i can't believe he got into a can held together by GLUE
Rush had enough (self) belief to hold the glue and CF together...til it failed and he - and his unfortunate _passengers_ -
(_not_ "mission specialists") also failed to exist...😢😢😢😢.
Well, it was Elmer's. It's not like they used an off brand.
I still find it astounding that people PAID to go down on what was essentially an UNCERTIFIED soda can.

Being a billionaire doesn't preclude (apparently) the sense of adventure which overcomes intellectual advantage, rather age and it's advancement does not prevent naiveté... The nineteen year old should've had better guidance but his father was a Titanic aficionado, and as it was Father's Day ... Daddy got his wish to at least _try_ to dive to see her... Except, that ambition and trip failed before they got close enough in that deep Stygian darkness, didn't they?
Mankind's hubris... The whole thing is too sad to ponder upon for too long, and yet lessons _must_ be learned from it.
My admiration to all who must deal with such occurrences as this...and my condolences to all who grieve.
Why the video gone black and silent....😮
Thought my internet was cut for not paying my bill yet
😂😂🎉
Me too! 😂😂🤣
BRO SAME
Thanks Jeff for this glimpse of the dome recovery. But FYI my screen went black and silent between -26:27 and the end at 0.00.
That poor kid on that death trap.
Nineteen, barely into manhood with a mere glimpse into a future that would never be. R.I.P. Suleman...and the other three... (Sorry, I cannot bring myself to wish peace to Rush).
@@brigidsingleton1596 i do agree with not wishing peace on Rush sadly, he knew what he was doing and in the end, it obviously hadn't gone the way he was planning, the passengers sadly signed a contract and had no control over anything which is the worse part of it all.
I think of him every time I see something about the Titan. He had his whole life to live and Rushs ego and ignorance kept him from it.
Jeff, the implosion blew the viewport far away, and the dome right off all the bolts holding it…..i think that answers your question, QED
Oops, something has gone wrong with this video upload. At around 12:30 the video goes black and silent for the rest of the video.
JEFFOSTROFF i started watching this elsewhere then stopped and have been waiting for your version knowing it would be way better. Watching from QUEENSLAND Australia. Cheers.
Except that after the 12 min mark the video is junk!! Now i wasted 12 min w/o an ending to the video😢
@@1974lionsfanYep. Broken. Jeff: Fix plz.
There's fiber optic cables in the ROV's tether for near instantaneous communications, about 1-2 ms response time.
So he only allowed 4 bolts to be attached clamping it shut, that just shows how truly oblivious to reality he really was, simply unbelievable, there wasn't much upstairs it seems 🙄
He was all bravado. This ocean can’t take me down! Sadly, he convinced others to go with him.
Anyone else find these new images at such incredible depth, somewhat surreal and creepy? It's such a hostile environment, human beings just aren't supposed to be there.
The emotions the grieving loved-ones must feel watching these pictures of their lost family/friends' dark and lonely, final resting place, can only be imagined. Just awful.
I agree. This depth should not be for human exploration. That’s crazy.
Plus the images and video footage is so so clear at that depth from this ROV. I actually can't believe how well we can see everything. In my opinion the benefit of going down in a sub doesn't out weigh the risk when you could explore the titanic just as well if not better from a ROV like this and pick your nose whilst sitting in your living room.
Sad for everyone involved 😢
@@planetpayney I agree. Plus, how much are they really seeing from that porthole and a little screen inside that tin can??? The risks are too great. One tiny malfunction at that depth is catastrophic and it’s a one way trip. No thank you. Not the way I want to go. Too many lost souls there already. No need for more.
Stops at 12:28. Goes into Rush mode
🤣
You can see the odeseus milk crate was full of sand from landing on the bottom, amd as it was rising ypu could see the sand cloud and the pile getting smaller, the left milk crate.
The 2nd debris zone pic you showed, was of titanic itself….indicating the 2 areas where explorers are supposed to drop their ballast so not to disturbed the wreck. Those were NOT Titan parts. PS- That fish had a full meal for sure. Sick joke,
I was thinking the families might wanna grab some those fish
The video goes black and quiet between 12 and 13 minutes....
That seems like a lot of current for right on the surface with that much pressure. That's crazy and amazing. Titanic is just sitting there getting constantly pushed by the current
Jeff, if you're still there, please ACK
First like because they don’t have a love button, your stuff is always spot on.❤
Thanks Bill!
Regarding the sand, it's coming from the green baskets.
Oh no, we lost communication! The curse of the Titanic!
Well worth the watch 👍. The meditative black screen ending was great however the snippet of Star Trek right at the end was other worldly, only wishit had been 7 of 9. 🙂
Crazy seeing big chunks of the hull just scattered around like rocks 😮
Little fishy stealing the show. I didn't know they could go that deep.
THX JEFF! Saw the docs, missed the vid on the site.
They just released the video about 5 PM
I want more vid, this was prob the hardest part to grab, being 3500lbs and needing those 3 clampers…..the rest would seem easier, except the 2nd 3500 dome.
TH-cam does a lot of weird things for me, randomly. Sometimes TH-cam just says, "Nope! You don't get to watch any more of this video, but we'll make you think it's just you" (and usually it is just me).
It's actually nice to know that at least it's not just me for once. Seeing others post about the video cutting out made me feel better lol.
The shock loading when Titan was dropped was severe enough to fracture four bolts and would almost certainly have damaged other parts of the hull - probably including the glue joint between the tube and the titanium ring. Any reputable operator would have stopped all dives and returned the Titan for detailed inspection and testing onshore. It is not impossible that the dropping was the causal factor for the eventual implosion.
I would love to see this whole video, not just the first 12 minutes and then 25 minutes of blackness and silence before it comes back near 37:34 with no sound.
We are seeing and learning more of Stockton Rush's neglect and stubbornness. The poor teenager had all his life to look forward to.
I'd have a nervous breakdown running that robot with it moving so slowly. I was looking at the screen trying to move the Titan more quickly with my eyes and magic.
Ty for the update I’m glad I found your channel
this video wont play for me. i dont know if your end has issue or mine but i thought id inform you.
It blacks out @ the 12:26 mark
@doomsdayprophecies1739 You are correct cause got to that point so it's definitely on their end.
Also couldn't watch it.
@@doomsdayprophecies1739 it imploded
Same. I got to 12:28 and it went dark.
Who the f is paying for this? I hope it's not taxpayers. This didn't happen in USA waters
Would love to see the rest of the video. It went black. Please, please upload the complete version after you read these comments and figure things out.
This is how you know these passengers was just as crazy as Stockton was, that dome is their only way in and out of that submersible and you gonna not use enough bolts to secure it, and being a paying idiot to go down there not questioning any of that.
After 12:30 no more video or audio, just a black screen to the end of the video?
By the looks of the wreckage, I see the front window failing as everything is pushed back towards the back of the vessel. Not imploded in the center like all the videos made in the past. That's just my observation as a layman with no experience with something like this.
I believe Jeff imploded at depth! No pun intended.
Barely a minute in and it's already showing off some absolutely incredible ineptitude from Stockton Rush, good lord. My man just put all the bolts on, it's not that hard.
I forgot I was still streaming and then all of a sudden, Kirk and Spock. I was so confused for a while how I tuned into ST:TOS until I realized it was your stream.
Aw man, just as it was getting good the sound and video died. Oh well, hopefully you can reupload or do a summary at some point. Love the channel btw!
Look at that fish just chillin
@jeffostroff I know this company was utter garbage but 4 out of 18 bolts still shocked me. Didn’t believe it til I went and found the full testimony that it was in fact the dive configuration. Thank you.
It was tethered…..you cant get enough bandwidth for remote control with an acoustic modem
Yes I figured that what they did 2 1/2 miles of cable has to be heavy
35 meters per second is about 78 miles per hour, I really doubt it could ever sink that quickly just from falling at terminal velocity, especially with all that high-drag equipment all over it. Even the fastest of submarines can only break 50mph for short periods.
Interesting! Comment, obviously from experience!
All that silt was very clearly coming from the pile of silt in the green basket on the left of the ROV.
I assume you didn't intend to include the nearly 15 minutes of black screen silence and 2 minutes of OG star trek in the video (good taste btw)
Hi Jeff, please fix the typo in the description. It is Pelagic Research, not Pelagius Research. I had a hard time finding info about the company until I discovered the typo.
i guess it's more the drag rather than the weight that slows down the ascent
Thanks for all the updates Jeff. Cheers from Canberra.🇦🇺
_ps: thats quite a strong current 4000m down._
Have to like Kirk and Spock's analysis of the situation at the end of the video.
The more I watch these amazing manipulations of the robot arms, and the incredible engineering of these robot arms, the more insistent I feel that billionaires simply MUST secure very large escrow accounts to pay for all this RECOVERY. Does anybody wonder how nanny nations of taxpayers have had to delve into their pocketbooks to pay for this complete Stockton Rush folly!
6000 psi holding the dome on, lol. You'd think somewhere in aerospace engineering school, they'd teach how atmospheric pressure works. No wonder boeing fell apart for the same reason.
I feel as if they are hiding something for the way they are releasing bits of footage of the wreckage recovery operation, but anyone else wondering if they are gonna find the controller in the ocean floor? I feel sad knowing that the kid who didn’t want to go ended up dying along with his dad and left his mother as a widow.
The dome doesn't have the ring on it. Assuming the ring was bolted to the dome with more than just 4 bolts, it should still be there on the dome with or without carbon fiber fragments glued to it. There could all kinds of dynamic effects happening when the water pressure first rushed in but would it break all of the bolts vs pulling the carbon fiber away from the glue? I can't imagine that they would have unbolted the ring using the ROV.
is the video only 11mins longs? why is the rest only showing black screen after the 11min mark.
That was the part of the video where he started talking smack about you. He just blacked it out for you because he didn’t want to hurt your feelings. Trust me, you’re better off not knowing what he said.
Need to reupload this one. It goes black 12mins in
Great video, the ROV is tethered
Video imploded at a depth of 12:30 minutes. RIP video.
Ain’t no party like a Stockton Rush party
4 bolts? so you could squeeze the sub and it fell off? great job. this was by purpose.
I was right that there is more footage than the short bit they made available a few days ago. I mentioned in your previous episode there is no way they only have 2 minutes of footage after the implosion occurred and there has to be more. It's always that kind of behavior with any kind of investigation disaster reporting or failure analysis with those officials or whatever 3 letter/4 letter organizer involvement.
Video blacked out faster than the implosion itself.
The video imploded at 12:27 😂
1966 STARTREK aye?
hahaha
Some wires got crossed with the upload, i guess :P
Half the video is missing.
How did it manage to stay intact on its previous trip to Titanic?
Used more bolts and had a mechanism to hold it up when open.
Everything is ok until it's not ok. I could have imploded on mission 1, but it survived 7 full cycles to titanic before fatigue got to it
Dumb luck. Legitimately. If you look at JAL123, it flew for nearly a decade (1978-1985) after the incident that caused the stress fractures that eventually brought it down. Sometimes it just comes down to the dice roll that day not being on your side. It'll happen eventually, just depends on whether that eventually coincides with your day or someone else's.
It's called cyclical fatigue. It got weaker with each dive .
@@htewing yeah I thought about that a lot. Pretty amazing visit to our deeper questions about life.
I'm pretty sure that parts of them made it the extra 350 meters to the Titanic.
many bad decisions were made, but i doubt they legit thought 4 bolts were enough. Like, the guy was reckless, but not that dumb
This video ended as abruptly as the Titan
(Just kidding pls reupload, I must know more)
Jeff was down there and suffered the same fate 😢
Now we know that a milk crate can handle being down as deep as the titanic
So, how many bolts were used in the final dive? when they drop weight, the sub might have jolt and sheared one of the bolts and cause the leak and subsquent implosion?
My router imploded at 12:28.
Wow...your video is just like the Titan...
Jeff it definitely went blackout no audio until the end when Star Trek came on.???
Curious fish.
It looks plum and fat and is looking for the dessert serving.
One mans trash are other man's treasure
What kind of hidden damage was done to the carbon fiber when the dome snapped off?
This video of the salvage is So cool... almost looks fake ! Wow.. technology!
Way down at the very end of the black it looks like a desktop capture of some Star Trek on TH-cam and the edit sequence
So even the coast guard takes milk crates from Darigold. Good to know.
If the dome fell off that would mean the ring with the threaded bolt holes came unglued from the carbon fiber tube, assuming there were still 4 bolts threaded into it.
NICE GLUE JOB 😳!!!
The done readily came off to let them in, and then it would be bolted back on, sealing them in the submersible. They only reattached it with 4 bolts that time it fell off. It had nothing to do with the glue component.
@@catchifyoucan232 thought it had hinges and swung open
@@ray8304 hinges were added after this incident
Slow ascent due to 3500lb load. Vs fast descent……cant carry that much ballast to dump, esp in that location.
Guys the video did not go black on purpose... that was when the implosion happened SHEEEEEESH
so, the dome was flange to flange mounted by bolt only, is this correct?, no counter bore interlock or other type of mechanical support other than the bolts, and they knowingly left most of them out? PLEASE tell me i have this wrong. please.
Could that drop have caused an issue and fail point? It should have been cancelled until it was truly inspected. They say rules and regulations come from tragedy, they may not know it but they would have made doing this in the future safer for what comes next. Yes some will complain but this is the reason we wear seat belts and helmets on job sites.
Ill bet this salvage job cost a small fortune to do after all of the warnings rush recieved he didnt listen and i think i know one of the reasons why and that was paul-henri nargeolet he was on every dive to titanic in the titan sub he was one of the first guys who salvage titanic artifacts he has dove to titanic more than anybody and i guess if somebody like that dives with you you have no worries his friend james cameron warned him about the sub also but he still got in it having a expert like that convinced people it was safe i cant believe a man as smart as that also didnt listen to the warnings such a shame!!
If you took a cup down and it shrunk, What kept the carbin fiber tube from shrinking and POPING the ends right off?
Every day more insanity
Jeff, replay crew here. What happened?
Stockton rushed to his watery grave
Glued together and didn’t even bolt it all the way
😡😡😡
Why did it take them a year to release this footage?
As other people have stated, there is something wrong with the video and sound.
The sand is coming from the high tech milk crate on the left.
