    I like the theory about how the Barney we see through the series is just an exagerated caricature of the real Barney made by Ted so his kids would root for him when it came time to go ask Robin out.

      Yes! I also love the point that The Take made in another video. They said that Barney is a reflection of Ted's true character. They are basically foils of each other but when it comes down to it, Ted is willing to be even a bigger douche than Barney so it shows that Ted isnt a reliable narrarator and he's been using Barney as a way to tell his kids how much better he was in comparison

    • @hegluj6796

      RyoKasai25 I feel that teds true character is the one shown in the movie and since he can’t lie about that he just tell his kids that the director was an asshole but in reality that’s who he really was, at least that’s what the original ending left me thinking

    Honestly he was the most interesting and best developed character on the show and everything he did had a meaning like him not being able to play basketball in middle school because his father was absent, him lying to get laid because he thought that that’s what cool people did, it was such a disappointment seeing his whole arc get thrown in the end.
    What a shame that the writers didn’t liked a character who wasn’t based off of him to be the favorite

    • @user-md4ss2do5k
      @user-md4ss2do5k 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      he's a terrible character, his whole arc was laughing at the womanizer. What did you expect? also, you just have terrible bais taste in shows. You watched this garbage.

    • @glebbokhan9777
      @glebbokhan9777 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Was the arc really get thrown though? In one of the very latest scenes the guy interrupted two obviously "easy prey" girls having fun to tell them how "easy prey" they are and to send them home before they are "caught" by a younger Barney! Barney being single is not the same as Barney being a womanizer. Sure, he could not stay married with the only girl it seemed to be possible with - but he changed a lot.

    • @katybee3891
      @katybee3891 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      C the funny thing about Barney was that he was always making up things and he had crazy theory’s and he was very creative. And he was very charismatic and expressive. It was fun to find out what twisted mental gymnastics are behind his behavior.

    • @hegluj6796
      @hegluj6796 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Gleb Bokhan yes, it was thrown away. The fact that he divorced robin over one of the stupidest reasons shows it, one can argue that him being a womanizer again shows how they completely erased his development ( I feel that too) or that he always relapsed but what shows how they erased and rewrote it in less than 3 minutes is his reaction when the girl tells him that she’s pregnant and he didn’t even wanted to see the baby but suddenly when he sees her his whole character evolves again into what he already was in season 9 but this time it was the magic of seeing his child what changed him and not his own experiences.

      @Madalin Grama Glad someone speaks some sense. I have never understood for a second what anybody saw in the Robin/Barney dynamic... they were *always* bad for each other, so much so that the story points it out dozens of times. Them not being together at the end is one of the actual good choices the writers made in the final season.

  • @edabakb

    • @stratospherica
      @stratospherica 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@bobajob13 Suits properly tailored to a feminine frame look really good, honestly. Like I don't mean to boast but I look super hot in a suit, and I feel powerful.
      A caveat is that suits with skirts really have a tendency to look boxy. You want a blazer that is less padded than a typical men's one and with a shorter cut, with a pair of tapered trousers that cut off around the ankle.

    • @bobajob13
      @bobajob13 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stratospherica I tend to think that looser cut women's suits are far superior. Long baggy sleeves and wide leg trousers. Max Mara has always had some nice ones in his collections, they always sell really well. The suit is designed to accentuate the shoulders, the create and inverted triangle shape, to evoke a military uniform. And I thing women's suits do that a disservice, which isn't helped by the complete lack of effort that most designers put in.

      Barney *is* How I Met Your Mother. He's the comedic *and* emotional core of the show. He's what makes it work. Marshall stands as a comedic pillar in his own right, but the unabashed perfection of his personality makes him more difficult to relate to emotionally. There's literally nothing wrong with Marshall, and that's his biggest flaw. He's always right, every time. Morally, rationally, emotionally... he's *always* right, and that's not something you can really write in an emotionally impactful way. Barney's flaws are what *make* the showings of his true self behind the facade so impactful.

    I think there's a difference between important and attractive. The suit will never go because it looks put together, it looks like you made an effort, and THAT, more than the suit, is what's attractive.
    People may envy tech bro's money, but they don't necessarily think he looks good. They just think he has enough money he doesn't care about looking like he just rolled out of bed.

    • @krankarvolund7771

      Well, the thing is "looking like you made an effort" can vary from cultures, in Ancient Rome, it was using togas (ultimate rich cloth, as it block an arm to wear, making you unable to do any manual work ^^), in the time of kings, it was various very complicated and rich clothes. Now it's suits, but it can change with the decades ^^

Compare that to now and think if you would find a women with dirt in her nails has something attractive or well put together.

    • @krankarvolund7771
      @krankarvolund7771 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@paulogaspar8295 Okay so first, Romans are famous for for their public bathhouse that all citizens visited at least weekly, probably more often. I don't call that "barely took a bath". Secondly, don't know where you would work in the fields in Rome 😜 But yeah outside Rome most people's were farmers.... So what? 😁 And thirdly, I will totally call a beautiful woman beautiful, even if she got dirt under her nails and hairs everywhere.
      Finally, what you describe was a pure rural woman, I was referring to rich elite men. But that shows that yes, beauty standard and expectations have shifted. At a time where the only bath available for most people was more like a public pool, hygiene expectations were lower.

    While I get the points you make, I dont neccesarily think suits will ever go out of fashion.
    There is a certain element of coolness in wearing a suit and while it might not be comfortable to wear it all the time, there is something about a suit that even if it's not the best time to wear it like you mention now, it will come back at some point.

    • @chrisblanc663

      The right suit and the right tailoring is way more comfortable then the most beat up pair of jeans, or t-shirt. Part of the problem is few men learn how to get the right suit. Also the lack of affordability of that suit is undermined by truly cheap options that are uncomfortable that most people go to. Then they think suits are uncomfortable.

      It's reducing a person (usually a woman) to a type. The only thing you're interested in them is their race. Their personality, thoughts, compatibility doesn't matter to the person seeing them as a type. You treat objects this way

    • @joopizdebest
      @joopizdebest 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      i think in that context it's a preference.. if he said "all lebanese girls are beautiful" (i.e. a generalisation) then that might be racist.. positive racism lol

      @aasthabisht3431 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @SchnuffelWuffel people can have types but since this was in connection with Barney and his fetish with Lebanese girls, I gave my reply. In this context, it was racist

    • @carysbebard3690
      @carysbebard3690 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @SchnuffelWuffel not all Lebanese and half asian women look the same, that's the slightly racist assumption he's making. Hair and eye colour can be on any race of person, so it's different from what Barney said.

  • @spartanfalanx

    You make an interesting argument, although I do feel like your description of suit-enthusiasts is a little one-sided. In recent years there has actually been a rise in people who want to wear a suit as a part of a more "elegant" lifestyle. To write this off as an old-fashioned sense of adhering to outdated views on race, gender or sexuality, or as trying to fit in in a corporate society is incorrect. In fact the idea for many suit-lovers nowadays is that it is part of a lifestyle that revolves about respect and the idea of elegance that is often tied to the suit is a way for them not to be complacent with the standard of people who don't like wearing suits.
    I am not saying that your argument about the suit in the 21st century is necessarily wrong, but it only shows the side of those who oppose the suit and leaves out the side of people (who are not misogynist, homophobes or racists) who still enjoy wearing suits.

      And as others here in the comment section have remarked(the majority of them women, oddly enough), most of us fellas aren't Jobs or Zuckerberg, and thus can't go through life dressed like tenth graders and still be respected, much less seen as men

    • @chrisblanc663
      @chrisblanc663 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very well said. I work for myself. I can dress down to business casual in the line of work I do, but I suit up every day to show respect to myself and others. I do important work. I take care of the details, I’m presentable to others. Also if you learn anything about suits you find out that it’s in the details where you can show a lot of your own character. Suits box peoples individuality as much as the edges of a canvas box an artists creativity, or chess pieces limit a chess players strategy. A suit is the structure that allows a man to shine by accentuating their masculine physical features, while giving enough room to plant the details of their individual personality.
      There is simply more individuality there than an adult 10 year old who doesn’t know who he is, and wearing trainers. Granted I wouldn’t mind having Zuckerburge money. But I wouldn’t take his lumpy fashion sense.

    • @TheRefinedGentleman
      @TheRefinedGentleman ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion, once you get hooked on suits you can't stop. Taking the time to dress nicely and look well put together affects how people perceive you. I consider taking the time and effort with the details like shining your shoes to be a form of good manners. You can still wear a suit daily and have a good character. Jeans are omnipresent due to the 1960s counterculture, and the younger generations are even rebelling against jeans with the shift to athleisure, due to comfort. I've had a hard time buying jeans and casual clothes off the rack my entire life due to my build. Wearing tailored trousers and clothing has been a life-changer for me. I can finally go outside in clothes that actually fit me with the details I want, like cuffs and pleats. Most societies reserve special clothing for formal occasions which tends to be replaced as history progresses. The suit will inevitability die off someday, but it still has some life left in it.

I have big boobs and if I wear a classical white office blouse I automatically look like a sexy stereotype office girl or its way too baggy and I look frumpy. How can I be confident at a job, where the work uniform is actively hindering me to move and feel good. Most notably at the 2 big family weddings I had to get done up for. By the end of both my parents had to come up with odd and creative ways to keep the suit on me because it was falling apart. Be it my belt breaking and my missized pants having to be held up by bungee cords or the entire rubber portion of both my dress shoes slowly peeling off during the reception and party. Both were suits purchased for those exact events, so old age ain't it. It was a good laugh though.
