  • Installing a California Air Tools 2.0 hp Compressor Pump on my old 6.25hp Campbell Hausfeld compressor. So far it is a lot quieter than the old one and has no problem filling my tank.

    I did mine today onto my craftsman 25 gallon tank. I did have to add a 12 x 7 plate. It worked great, so glad I saw your video for guidance.

    thank you for the video, very much appreciated! I am going to try and replace on my 30 gallon. I have the 8 gallon CAL.AIR with same motor and I really like it.

      You are welcome. I am still pleasantly surprised at how quite it runs.

    I hear that with Solberg Air Intakes, the compressor sounds more quiet and fills up faster.

      Sounds like the pressure switch went out. You can get new ones on amazon.

    why you not use flexible hose?

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just used what the compressor was already designed to use. Also it does get hot when the compressor is running.

    nice! so it looks like you blocked off one port. are the connecting tubes between the heads solving the need to connect both outputs externally with a T?

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but the connection between the cylinders was already there. You just have to block the one port.

    Are you still happy with the CAT pump and motor? I’ve heard of a lot of complaints about their piston rings failing.

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am, it is still running well and still quiet. I will report back if I do have any issues in the future.

    A couple questions can the air inlet go on either side left or right? Did it come with the mufflers?

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Intake and Exhaust are side specific, they need to be plumbed correctly. I only had to redo it once lol. It comes with the filter/muflers

    Capacitor size?

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It came with the compressor head, but it is a cbb60 250vac 50/60hz 40/85/21 90uf capacitor

    How long does it take to fill up that 28 gallon tank with the new California Air tools motor?

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't timed it, but it's way faster than the old one.

      @@i2edeye I'm affixing the SP-9421 to a 20 gallon tank in the hopes of using it to paint intermittently. Btw if I remember correctly there's an important component you need to install for CAT motors. I called CAT a while ago and they said all their pumps need an Unloader or else the lifespan will be greatly reduced.

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The unit came with a capacitor, not sure what an 'unloader' is?

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@broken_font1881 Looked up the unloader valve, this is located on the inlet of my tank. If you are just using a standalone tank, I think you will need one.

    • @broken_font1881
      @broken_font1881 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@i2edeye an unloader is a valve that releases the pressure in the motor's piston once the motor is finished pumping. Unloaders are typically integrated on the pressure switch and are paired up with a one way check valve. If you look up "air compressor unloader valve" you'll find some videos on TH-cam explaining how they work.

    capacitor info please?

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The capacitor came with the compressor, it can be hooked up either polarity. It is a SeaKnight CBB60

    great video, i have a larger compressor that runs on 220v, was thinking about swapping the single compressor motor for two of these.

    • @i2edeye
      @i2edeye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. 2 of these would definitely move a lot of air.
