The Welsh choirs are indeed beautiful. However if you love mass singing as I do, have a listen on TH-cam to the Indian Classic mass choirs old traditional hymns, sometimes without musical accompaniment. Very inspiring.
Impressive number of choirs, and HUGE! Listening to and viewing this I find that either through the recording of this or something more fundamental, when such large choirs gather it sounds all 'smushed' together. The listener (me) cannot distinguish between tenor, baritone or bass sections as one would when listening to smaller choirs. Instead, the 'being-bowled-over' effect is through the sheer volume of so many voices singing in one place. What I am saying is that for me numbers are not as important as the quality of singing that I can hear much more clearly whilst listening to a smaller choir I will never forget the experience of hearing a Welsh Men's Choir in a small church in Ottawa. The singers walked out on stage and most of them had no hair or white hair. Seeing them, I figuratively rolled my eyes and wondered why I had paid for a ticket. The instant that they started singing I got tears in my eyes from the sheer beauty. Wow! I had hugely underestimated them. It was a memorable performance -- wish I could remember the name of the choir. They blew me away!
