    Flat out, "Accept the Truth" is one of the best scenes in the whole game. Right after receiving his father's clothes, where before he had nothing to remind him of his family save for horrible memories plagued with guilt and self-hatred, Clive has to literally face his fears to move forward.
    Sweet moments, followed by harsh truths forging the resolve of a man to do the right thing for the rest of his life and never surrender to despair.
    And it all comes wrapped up in a super dope battle sequence full of banger music! (The best therapy and introspection includes some air combos after all)

      I don't even mean this as a hyperbole...but I think it might be my favorite moment in gaming. It has SO MUCH weight to it in terms of Clive's character arc. Combined with some of my favorite themes and leitmotifs of the game. It's just incredible.

      "You are not Ifrit. I am."
      Calling Clive's opponent his Shadow was absolutely deliberate. He was fighting against the darkness within him, the manifestation of his Jungian Shadow, and he just couldn't win, because he was fighting his own nature. The only way he won was embracing that darkness. Embracing his nature.
      The truth was simple: he wasn't using the Shadow's weapons. The Shadow was using _his_ weapons.
      "You are not Ifrit. I am."

      @@ericbright1742 Certainly! While the concept of an inner battle or fighting yourself to move forward isn't exactly new, FF16 performs it amazingly. Quite possibly the best use of this trope I've seen in any media.

    Was waiting you to react to this. One thing that absolutely stood out to me during this sequence was Jill's unflinching loyalty in support of Clive. You can tell he's genuinely moved when he says "Thank You" towards the end.

      @PhilipHarts one of the best romances in all of gaming to me. And completely believe able. They lay the foundations so well. And also, they are just genuinely good friends and life/work partners that evolving into a romance seems completely natural.
      Also, the voice actors are just murdering their performances. Maybe the best I've ever heard.

    Jill is something else. For all of Clive's strengths, they all come from Jill. She is his reason to keep going when he's at his lowest. She's the one who stands with him when he feels unworthy. She's his everything and he doesn't even realise it yet.
    That'll come a bit later. Masterful writing.

    This scene reminds me of a similar scene from the original Final Fantasy VII. Despite the technical limitations of the time, it was a great and effective scene of rebuilding someone's mind from its fragmented pieces and memories.

    I dont know if im alone in this but i actually really loved the portrayal of Ifrit in these scenes. Loved the other but i prefered the big lumbering monster rather than the parkor, acrobatic OP version later in the story it really lent both ifrits weight and power and made them feel really threatening.

    • @KageAkame
      @KageAkame 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Here's the thing, though. The first instance of Ifrit [vs. Phoenix(both fights)] was out of control. The second instance of Ifrit (vs. Garuda) was on instinct. The remaining instances of Ifrit, Clive is in full control of. It's a show of the progression of just how much he has control over the Eikon.

    • @nerovipus6327
      @nerovipus6327 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @KageAkame yeah i I don't disagree with your reasoning for why it would happen but for me it lessens the impact.
      Very much like the godzilla/kong movies.
      Since the first of the latest series of godzilla films the scale has got less and less.
      Now in the godzilla.vs Kong the scale and weight has just completely gone.

      @@nerovipus6327 Bit of a late comment but part of the problem is that literally every other eikon he fights from this point as Ifrit is bigger than him, without his nimbleness and acrobatic ability, he would be ramming into a wall.
      Against Pheonix and Garuda, he had the overwhelming physical advantage so he looked much more imposing.
      But against Titan or Bahamut, he would get ragdolled even more, even the interaction with Ramuh shows how bad of an idea it is for him to act like a juggernaut.

    Unfortunately after this point the game steers harder into being a single player mmo. Even the main quest making you do fetch quests. This game has moments that will forever live with me. But damn did they fumble. Definition of "High highs, and low lows." Ff7 remake and rebirth are just so much better overall. Though this game has moments that are peak final fantasy. And I def bawled my eyes out at the end.

      I didnt feel like that when playig 16. There are some pacing issues with 16, but it was so much better than Rebirth for me. Rebirth felt like the most generic Ubisoft title. I think it was the worst FF I have touched. but to be fair, he worst FF is still a damn masterpiece compared to most other games lol
