I have tears rolling down my face. You all, should be so proud of your accomplishments. I'm feeling proud and my only contribution was watching you every step of the way. Thumbs up for your content and so much love, from S. California.
❤ Deb and I vote for cedar in the breezeway. Shoes, boots, outdoor smoke smelled clothing that are housed in there, will benefit from the smell of cedar. And BUGS will stay out as well. ❤
One suggestion would be to put some type of fire alarm system in place. The fact that your daughter will be above the garage is really important. With todays cars and other electronic equipment there is always a chance that a fire could happen. Also maybe get a plan for a fire escape for the addition, and the main house. I would also think about getting carbon monoxide detectors in garage area as cars could be a danger if left running. I know this sounds dumb but any thought of a retention pond close by in case of fire. Water would be helpful for fire deptment. Sorry not to be critical but one of my neighbors had a barn fire and water had to be brought in and building burned to the ground. Anyway great videos and you and your family are great examples of proud Americans.
Here's an idea for the breezeway, how about a small part of it you put in a chalkboard. You know you could write little messages of encouragements to each other! Idk just a thought. Then you could do the cedar planks on the rest of it.
It's hard to believe it's been five years already! You've all come so far, from a dream to a thriving reality. Congrats! And I'm totally envious of how clean and tidy your garage is. LOL
5 years, seems like yesterday I watched your first video. The only difference between me and you is you took action and activated your plan. Been an adventure in learning and reflection. Hopefully "your" projects are as entertaining as the previous builds. Love light and eternal blessing ❤ 🙏 Thanks Mel and Jeremy ❤
Jeremy had a great idea. Put a bench for storage, hooks above to hang coats or a shoe storage under the bench. Easy access during winter. Out of sight. Everything looks amazing.
For the breezeway I say shiplap walls with hooks for coats and a shelf above for winter hats, and the bench to cover the pipes, but also for sitting on to take off your boots. ❤ As far as the little things you are going back to do, I’ve been trying to teach my daughter that sometimes you don’t finish a task at school before the teacher tells you to move on to something else. She has a difficult time with that. I told her that when she grows up, her boss may tell her to stop on one thing and jump onto another task really quickly and she is going to have to be okay with that. Her boss and teacher can see the big picture, even though she can’t, and she has to trust that it’s the right thing to do. Sometimes we think we have life all planned out, and God throws us curve balls, and makes us go into a different direction, but if we fight Him to do our will, we may mess up His plans because we can’t see the big picture. We need to trust and understand that sometimes we don’t have all the answers and a little faith could bring us to amazing blessings. Look at all that you’ve built on just a leap of faith! Thank you for always being a good example to us and also sharing your journey with us, and I hope that the wasps go away soon! 😅 Love you all! 😊❤
Love that you promote learning about our country and it’s history. So important in order for us to appreciate this wonderful experiment. I pray we keep our Constitutional Republic! Yes, yes Cedar would be great and smell amazing!! Love your Dear family sooooooo much!! God’s Richest Blessings!!! Btw, that last pic of your gorgeous home ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ you surely are blessed ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Just a thought for y'all, in your closing thoughts with y'all in the garage cleaning up, I seen the water heater in background. With winter coming I'd get that wrapped in an insulating blanket made for water heaters soon. Also, the two pipes going up into the apart. John in Ky
I Love how the garage wasn’t something you even thought possible & you boxed yourselves in so that failure wasn’t an option! How BRAVE you all are🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Y'all have the most AMAZING personalities! You're funny, you can be serious, you guys have such kind, gentle and loving hearts, your fierce over your convictions and one another and you don't sweat the small stuff ... You're a TEAM!!!! Not Parents vs Kiddos or Kiddos vs Parents, Parent vs Parent or Kiddos vs Kiddos, y'all are really a Family TEAM!! Not a Family "unit" but a Team! Thank you for sharing with us! May God bless and keep you guys!
Recently I saw a video that said the bees are anticipating winter and are hungry. It said to put out extra food ( maybe near the traps) to give them a place to go. Perhaps apple slices / or half cut.
❤️ Wow, the vent hood looks fabulous so do the doors. It is always a blessing to watch this channel 👍 The breezeway look of a sauna would look great. Another thought, round end cuts of logs stacked up the wall. The one side will I think will be covered with coats and shoes and mittens. All your ideas have come out beautiful! Congratulations on all your hard work ✅
Cedar walls in the breezeway would be super cool! I look forward to watching your videos each Saturday. Thank you for sharing your life journey with us.
Your house and location are like a little piece of heaven -- wish I were there! Your family is beautiful and the comments you have at the end of each video are warm and thought provoking. Can't wait to see the outside covering for the addition and will miss your construction videos. But your newest addition, the little four-legged one, brings a smile each and every time I see him! God bless each of you!
Love the finished product. You guys have made a beautiful homestead with the Idaho raw land. You have breath taking scenery and it’s all come together. Enjoy your videos!! 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
You two are so amazing in parenting and what you've accomplished since you moved there and before! Way to go !! So happy to have followed you from the beginning 💗 ❤😊
It is always looking better around there when another job is completed. Great job with the kitchen vent and the painting. Takes a little time to put things away when mostly done and feels so good to see all the empty space for awhile. You folks are great . Hope you can get rid of those Colonies of Hornets, they are bad news and need to be disposed of. Stay safe and keep up the great videos. Oh , Cedar in the entry way. Good bug deterrent. Fred.
Thank you for documenting the building out of your dreams. It is inspirational. Grateful for your channel and I really appreciate Melissa's closing monologue.
I’m so happy for y’all 🥰thank you for blessing me this morning ❤I love to watch you two n the love ❤️ you have for one another . You know my husband Keith died 4 months ago yesterday 😢 your videos help me to remember what we had together for 51 years , no it wasn’t all great ,but we had some funny times happy family times n some not so good times . God has truly been with us . I love you all very much n I hope the videos will continue on .❤️🙏🏻✝️🦋☀️
God has definitely blessed y’all. Your page just brings joy. I’m going to keep praying for some joy of my own for my family. Things aren’t great by any means but we’re still blessed as much as we deserve to be I guess. Life can hit pretty hard and life can change in an instant and sometimes you just never see it coming. We do a lot of I wish we had done this that or the other different. Unfortunately we can’t go back and going forward feels like a stand still no matter what we do. Regardless I thank you from the bottom of my Momma heart for giving this broken heart a break from all her mistakes and a chance to believe that things will someday change and get better. God Bless!🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️
Please remember not to warm the cars up while inside of the garage because Navayas apartment up stairs always pull vehicles out side the garage and then allow them to warm up to avoid gas poisoning monoxide poisoning
No it would not be safe to warm up cars inside because the smoke from the exhaust will fill up the garage and we all know that smoke rises meaning it will fill up the apartment up stairs
I like the idea of the cedar on the walls in that breezeway. The sauna feeling would be nice with the bench and the shoe rack, and it would probably help with the smell of the shoes hanging on the wall.
My favourite part was seeing you and your boy going to harvest some green beans. A mundane moment, so simple, yet so beautiful. And Ludo, always ❤ Thank you for sharing all this, and i hope that this ordeal with the hornets will end soon 💞💞💞
That vent hood is so nice. It just blends everything in on that wall. And then clearing everything out of the garage. Wow your place looks so good. You have done awesome job on your place. 👍❤️
Y’all have built a beautiful home and life for yourself with one of the most beautiful views of the mountains I’ve ever seen. I feel honored to be allowed to follow your journey over the past several years.
Hello again my loving Idaho family ♥️!! Sorry to see you’re still dealing with the 🐝 again this week (ouch Melissa!! That’s a bad area to get stung😖)! I think this is the worst we’ve had them in many years for Ky too. It’s good to see you checking off so many things on your to do list (perfect exterior door color btw😉). That range hood looks like it was planned perfectly to be like it is!! Although the bees are swarming now winter time is closer than we think. Your winters there are far worse than here in the mountains and hollers of Ky. Before long we will be in full swing for the pediatric cancer toy drive and just like that the new year will arrive. I pray your days are long enough to accomplish your goals before the weather is the deciding factor. I carry each of you very dear to my heart and ALWAYS in my prayers🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻…. Until next week ♥️
Hillsdale College is awesome! So happy you are homeschooling your kids & using this great educational tool. Melissa & Jeremy wonderful, thoughtful parents
You guys are doing an amazing job on making your dreams come true. Even though I don’t know you personally…I’m proud of you. I do know what it takes to make things look good on a property..so I’m proud of your hard work, your determination and your follow through I. Making your dream come alive. Well done!!
I love you guys so much it’s amazing seeing everything you do and the property views is breathtaking the Mountains are absolutely gorgeous thank you for everything you do such a wonderful family and once again love you all god bless you
You guys really need to list the music you use. I find so much enjoyment from listening to GOOD music, and sometimes that's hard to find. You have a real knack for "sticky tunes" - they stick in my head. I'd like to know more about the artists and groups.
I do not have TV and I have been watching your TH-cam channel since you were living in the camper. I work very long hours and you have inspired me to build my dream home. You do so much to build your home and TH-cam is a tool that was available to use to achieve. You deserve the reward for all your backbreaking work. BTW Irish Spring soap, wasp hate the smell and will leave you alone. Do you have video of searching for your property?
My God Mellisa , your videos are so beautiful, with the specific songs, what you say at the end of them, tugs at the heart strings most of the time, in a good way. For example, some make me laugh because of you and Jeremy's humor, some make you cry, especially the one with Kenji passing, 😢that one was hard. Some make you feel happy for the family. Etc, The memories you are creating are priceless, your kids and grandkids will enjoy watching tremendously.
Jeremy and Melissa your chemistry and work ethic is fantastic and addictive. Your TH-cam episodes are always well filmed, expertly edited and music selection SPOT-ON. SORRY for the hornets they can be a MAJOR summer deterrent to outdoor activities and ruin every cookout/picnic!
We were told to place bee traps early in the spring and have done so since moving here to Sandpoint, so far it appears to have worked well. We have not had the problem that everyone has been talking about this year. On the other hand, I have sold more hornet & wasp killer than all previous years to the painting contractors!
Hey Guys! Your in-law/transition suite is absolutely gorgeous - well done! I am experienced in the property management field and we have issues with bees and hornets up here when our late summer blast we get for a couple of weeks each year - they become confused. They are typically ground dwellers (interesting fact lol). However, they become somewhat dormant after dusk - so that's the best time to spray and kill!!! During the warmer times during the day is when they are most active gathering food,, etc. Leaving sweet water can (at times) bring more bees to the area and will cause more activity as different colonies are fighting for the same food source. So.....get after them after dusk/dark when they are the quietist. Good Luck! Love and blessings from beautiful Toronto
I enjoy the rhythm of your lives. You remind me of dear friends who bought land with a log cabin on it in the countryside of Quebec, Canada. No running water, no electricity, wood cookstove, outhouse. They raised six kids, all homeschooled and figured out power, plumbing, still grow their own food, meat, and also started a thriving honey business. I learned how to make cheese there, jams and jellies, and the joys of independent living. I love the memories and enthusiasm and close knit family feelings you evoke. Thank you so much.
I am so proud of you and your family! Y'all have accomplished so much! I really enjoy your videos and watching the kids grow. Enjoy every moment with them.
Wow, what a way to start the video. That song was a definite mood setter. That vent cover turned out great! I like that it's a beefier cover instead of being slim like typical cover are. You pick the most amazing background music. Would you mind telling me what was the name of the song that was playing while y'all were painting the first set of doors? I tried picking out the lyrics, but I just couldn't get enough of them. I'd really like to listen to that one in full. Hope the hornet issue gets resolved fully soon. Another great video. Thank you!
I am so enamored of your family and all the hard work you’ve done. Your kids are completely delightful, no doubt a result of great parenting. Love from South Texas!
Hi to all. You all have done a great job on your homestead. We all are running out of time. It's the middle of September, then we will get first frost, then our church things we do for homeless and Christmas, plus toys and clothing collection, Fall Festival, Thanksgiving and then Christmas and Winter. All us homesteaders are busy. Have a good week. Lv and Prayers to all.
To kill the hornets. Use Dawn dish soap and water.. I’ll take a spray bottle ( get the good spray bottles) and fill it quarter way with Dawn rest of water mix it and spray them and I just fall off the nest !!! And if you have ticks … Use hose sprayer , fill bottle with Dawn and spray your yard !!! I spray it on thick.
Well... those are hornets. I'd get a "Super Soaker" to IMMEDIATELY saturate the nest. Spray bottles work but are slow like one shot at a time. Super Soakers are more like Buckshot PLUS they give YOU more distance from the nest before firing. Once this is done put SCENTED DRYER SHEETS in areas you don't want bee's, wasps or hornets to build a nest. For some reason, they HATE this.
I also put 1 cup of vinegar, one squirt of the dish soap and the rest with water in the spray bottle. This spray kills on contact, safe for the environment! I used this outside of our restaurant when the wasps got aggressive. (They were all over the front of cars eating the dead bug carcasses off the fronts or trying to nest in the side-view mirrors, too!
Everything looks fab and I love the hood vent.......it's perfect! Reclaiming the garage will be so nice and it looks huge and a dream come true.......keep dreaming as we all are enjoying sharing a bit of your dream causing us to dream as well! Dream big and don't put a time clock on finishing, because when you own a property of any type, there is always room to grow and dream and improve.........it's a life long dream.............Enjoy it all! Blessings
I have tears rolling down my face. You all, should be so proud of your accomplishments. I'm feeling proud and my only contribution was watching you every step of the way. Thumbs up for your content and so much love, from S. California.
Thank you so much!
Great episode except the hornets. I’m so sorry you have to deal with that. Best wishes!!!
It hurts my heart that you’re getting attacked by those hornets!
Great work guys even with the hornets! Love that sweet pup!
Jeremy, how did you become a cop if as you say, you are color blind ?im a retired cop and we use colors giving descriptions all the time.
Everything looks wonderful! I love watching your videos! ❤
❤ Deb and I vote for cedar in the breezeway. Shoes, boots, outdoor smoke smelled clothing that are housed in there, will benefit from the smell of cedar. And BUGS will stay out as well. ❤
i was just going to make the same comment.

Not critical, but definitely helpful tips! 👍
That was an extrenely good suggestion that definitely should be considered. Love this family.
Some excellent points, well made. :)
Great tips! Never can be too safe.
Very good suggestion.
When I need to be cheered up, I turn to the most beautiful family on you tube. Thank you for being you.
❤️
Here's an idea for the breezeway, how about a small part of it you put in a chalkboard. You know you could write little messages of encouragements to each other! Idk just a thought. Then you could do the cedar planks on the rest of it.
That's a great idea.
Yes I said the same!
Reclaimed barn wood planks would be a nice idea for the walkway. If you're still looking for ideas.
Yes barnwood
Congratulations 👏🏻 you have your garage again! A dream come true! Ludo is growing up so beautiful 😻
It's hard to believe it's been five years already! You've all come so far, from a dream to a thriving reality. Congrats! And I'm totally envious of how clean and tidy your garage is. LOL

It is nice to see that you are teaching your daughter to paint. She will use this skill for a lifetime. ❤
I love this family.❤

Wisdom! ❤
Thank you so much for your opening song. I haven't heard that song in years. How sweet it was to hear it again.
It's an oldie but a goodie
Love that you promote learning about our country and it’s history. So important in order for us to appreciate this wonderful experiment. I pray we keep our Constitutional Republic! Yes, yes Cedar would be great and smell amazing!! Love your Dear family sooooooo much!! God’s Richest Blessings!!! Btw, that last pic of your gorgeous home ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ you surely are blessed ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
You need a hand held bug zapper there’s actually something satisfying about hearing that zap when you swat one
I like the idea of cedar. You get a nice look, an amazing smell, plus you get the added bonus of it keeping the bugs out.
If it was me, I would have to have a hand rails on the wall side of the stairs.... but then I'm an oldie 👵. Best wishes from England UK 🇬🇧
Just a thought for y'all, in your closing thoughts with y'all in the garage cleaning up, I seen the water heater in background. With winter coming I'd get that wrapped in an insulating blanket made for water heaters soon. Also, the two pipes going up into the apart.

I Love how the garage wasn’t something you even thought possible & you boxed yourselves in so that failure wasn’t an option! How BRAVE you all are🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s

Gardening together is so nice to see. Land to table is the best. Working in the garden is so therapeutic.
Love your videos! Puppy is getting so big!❤
Recently I saw a video that said the bees are anticipating winter and are hungry. It said to put out extra food ( maybe near the traps) to give them a place to go. Perhaps apple slices / or half cut.
You all are such an inspiration to all . ❤️ beautiful home .
Everything looks amazing! So enjoy your videos!

Beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤ I wish we could get a full SLOW tour of the garage build. We want a tour! Looks so beautiful
I like the idea of the cedar on the walls in that breezeway. The sauna feeling would be nice with the bench and the shoe rack, and it would probably help with the smell of the shoes hanging on the wall.
Proud of you guys.... This is a real testament to what can be accomplished when you believe.
My favourite part was seeing you and your boy going to harvest some green beans. A mundane moment, so simple, yet so beautiful. And Ludo, always ❤ Thank you for sharing all this, and i hope that this ordeal with the hornets will end soon 💞💞💞
With all your hardscape, I can't wait to see your landscaping near the house.
That vent hood is so nice. It just blends everything in on that wall. And then clearing everything out of the garage. Wow your place looks so good. You have done awesome job on your place. 👍❤️
Truly beautiful breath taking views God Bless you both be careful of the bees
I'm a long time follower. Thanks for the great music on this video.
Great idea to use the cabinet guys to build the stove hood! Looks great! What a wonderful gift for the kids! A legacy house to be sure!
Congrats guys! Can’t wait to see what is next
Y’all have built a beautiful home and life for yourself with one of the most beautiful views of the mountains I’ve ever seen. I feel honored to be allowed to follow your journey over the past several years.
❤️
How about a railing for those apartment steps?
I'm proud for your family for all the accomplishments that you have completed so far. I've been enjoying all of the videos. Love to you all!❤
Hello again my loving Idaho family ♥️!! Sorry to see you’re still dealing with the 🐝 again this week (ouch Melissa!! That’s a bad area to get stung😖)! You guys really need to list the music you use. I find so much enjoyment from listening to GOOD music, and sometimes that's hard to find. You have a real knack for "sticky tunes" - they stick in my head. I'd like to know more about the artists and groups.
I agree, also because they're using someone else's creations behind these videos and the artists should get credit for their work.
I do not have TV and I have been watching your TH-cam channel since you were living in the camper. I work very long hours and you have inspired me to build my dream home. My God Mellisa , your videos are so beautiful, with the specific songs, what you say at the end of them, tugs at the heart strings most of the time, in a good way. The night sky shots are amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Make hall a reading room with a full body built-in padded bench over plumbing and put in a Bay window on the back wall
Everything has came together Perfect just the way y’all Dreamed it Would be and I’m happy this turned out Absolutely Amazing ❤
We were told to place bee traps early in the spring and have done so since moving here to Sandpoint, so far it appears to have worked well. We have not had the problem that everyone has been talking about this year. On the other hand, I have sold more hornet & wasp killer than all previous years to the painting contractors!
Yas have a beautiful farm I love horse's stay safe and well 💕 😊
Greige acoustic panels (thin wooden slat type) would look fab. Would serve a purpose too for an entry/exit door and muffle noise. 😊
Hey Guys! Your in-law/transition suite is absolutely gorgeous - well done!
The vent hood turned out great. The Lord knew the details.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. The garage and apartment look beautiful.
Hooray for Hillsdale! Our family loves their online courses. Your doors look great, BTW. So does the vent hood.
You guys make my Saturday. I always look forward to your videos. Be safe and GOD bless you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, what a way to start the video.
White panels or shiplap in the breezeway so that its bright in there. I love the mural idea too!
Happy Saturday Melissa and Jeremy love the hood vent

I always look forward to your videos. You inspire me
And if you have ticks …
Use hose sprayer , fill bottle with Dawn and spray your yard !!!
Blessings
