He made two observations. One was that he blamed the Russians for cutting off gas to Europe, which, as Olaf Schultz has been saying for some time, the British are now saying as well. I mean, it's an assertion that is so obviously untrue that it just takes my breath away to think that people can come along and say such things. Political leaders, Prime Ministers of important European countries, can come forward and say things like that. Of course, he said this was entirely due to President Putin's actions. He did not, of course, mention Foreign Secretary Cameron's statement about the Ukrainians being allowed to launch missile strikes at Russia using British missiles, nor did he mention the discussion about this issue. Discuss the fact that this statement provoked the Russians to call the British ambassador and give them a warning that if missile strikes were ever to take place against Russia in this way, the Russians would feel threatened and might launch missiles in response at British military targets anywhere in the world, including, by implication, against Britain itself. British are putting on a brave face, but deep down they understand how dangerous and difficult the situation has become.

We've lost our way/values. We were a Christian country, governed now by others religion. People home schooling having no faith in the system, agendas being pushed onto children too young. Migration issues we cannot sustain this. Safety in our cities and towns. Our next generation do not want to vote as they do not have faith in our system. Sorry for what our forefathers fought for, not the country it was back then.😢

Couldn't agree more. The Conservatives have wrecked our country with austerity, and many of those homeschooling their kids probably are pushing a religious agenda onto them far too young, and it is shameful that the current government have tried to make it more inconvenient for young people to vote.

@@alisonfitch-nd3bmI'd argue it started with two major events that occurred during Labour's rule, 9/11 attacks and the 2008 global recession caused by unregulated wall street. These two events cause a massive global shift in defence policies and economic policies. Since then we have voted for the conservative party. In my opinion they have had plenty of time (14 years) to put their policies and their view of Britain to work. Which apparently is unsecure borders, an underfunded NHS with outsourced privatisation rampant, a national living crisis and leaving the EU. This is not what I want my country to look like. I definitely will not vote conservative and I will consider other party's manifestos carefully. I suggest we all as a country take time to do the same.

@@trevfindley I am neutral. But as a person living in Birmingham, that is what I see. All I see with Labour is tax. My main concern is resetting again and again. That really doesn’t help with the direction the UK wants to go. In the next 4-8 years. It will change again and reset if we are with Labour. Liz Truss didn’t have a clue, so I also worry how parties choose their candidates. The world is becoming more and more screwed up and it’s heading to disaster fast. I am also not influenced by what others say on social media. I have lived in different countries with different political ideas. You are never going to find the perfect party. So you look for the party with the best direction. Not by what politicians say, but how it has improved.

@@lichade2008 I mean it's up to you. Sounds bad what's happened in Birmingham - but from my perspective, as someone from a smaller area, all the problems I see with my local authority are clearly a direct consequence of Westminster austerity policies, and not the political affiliations of local councillors. Unless Birmingham has extreme levels of devolution, it seems like a hard sell to put the majority of the blame for their situation on Labour as a party.
I don't know anything about your situation or views beyond this comment, but it sounds like to hold those opinions - you'd need to accept an awful lot of the things Rishi has said here (and elsewhere) at face value. Something that I certainly wouldn't be inclined to do myself.

I'm highly disappointed in Mr. Sunak for driving his fellow immigrants from the UK. Growing up, there might have been a time in his family when his parents became illegal immigrants. I understand that they left India, their country of origin, to Africa, then England. If a prime Minister had deported illegal immigrants, then would he have stayed and become the prime minister he is today? I know he is doing this to become popular with the Brits, but I need to advise him that targeting immigrants will not help him. Already, Brexit is wreaking havoc. Driving immigrants from Britain will make it worse. Instead of deportation, he should create avenues for immigrants to contribute to the UK.

Rishi must have been on a course, because he's starting to talk about some of the issues that voters actually care about, like illegal immigration and children's sex education... But then he slips in a few things we don't want and tries to make them sound good, like facial recognition cameras, tower-sized wind turbines and a slow slide to Net Zero.

I listened to your speech and you reminded me of Erich Honecker, the East German Chairman who was such a committed Communist. A man who said once things but neglected to see the economic catastrophe he brought upon his own people. You are Erich Honecker, so divorced from the realities of British society. How I am almost 40 years old and live at home with my parents because I cannot afford to rent and owning a house is a pipe dream. How I walk through my city and see people living and struggling on the streets. Your party caused it but you refuse to accept it because, like Erich Honecker so blinded by ideology, like Thatcherism another absolutistist ideology albeit on the right gives a simple view on what are complicated problems. You didn't see the damage you/your party has caused. I look forward to voting you out.
