    Mine is a true hater, albeit a bitter and jealous one. Dude took an hour flight to Okinawa just so he could talk crab about the orphans and destroy the orphanage just because they had better lives than he did when he was an orphan.

    To paraphrase a Fire Emblem character, there is no salvation for any of them. Not even after they spill all of their blood into the goddess's soil and wander until the flesh falls from their bones.

    Did Bae forget that Majima kidnapped Haruka or that Kiryu slapped Haruka (to be fair for completely different reasons) lol

      I guess you can argue Kiryu was disciplining Haruka for saying something out of line and Majima kidnapping on Shimanos orders...but Bae will forgive him cuz Majima 😂

    • @purelysmetalnightcore

      Funnily enough the mobile game changed the context of the scenario to make Majima a good guy instead of the wacky crazy antagonist he was in the OG 2005 Yakuza. In the mobile game it establishes that Shimano ordered Majima to kidnap Haruka to draw out Kiryu for "shooting" Kazama. But Majima put his own self-interest for a fight first and in the game, Haruka not only says Majima was actually really nice to her, but calls him "Uncle Majima" in the same way she does Kiryu. Idk why RGG is trying so hard to rewrite Majima to make him better - maybe it's because of what he did to Park in Y5.

      @scarymeunster9095 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@purelysmetalnightcoreMajima had no serious depth in 1 or even 2, so he was both narratively and creatively a wild card. He was technically a direct antagonist until 3 made his relationship with Kiryu deeper than just fighting him, so him having deeper motivations that fit with the later appearances he makes seems fitting.
      Majima was never nearly as shamelessly ruthless or cruel as the elder Tojo officers. Even though he was happy to cause property damage and possible endangerment, he’s never been one to go out of his way to harm anyone with no relation to his objective at the time. Him not hurting Haruka after kidnapping her despite Shimano’s orders still fits perfectly within the narrative of him casually sticking it to his patriarch and gives previously unknown context as to why he actively abducted her but didn’t just try to torture or beat her until she spilled everything. He’s never been one to casually target civilians, and the story shown in RGGO doesn’t change that.

      @@scarymeunster9095i wish they would have added more scenes to flesh out his transition into the mad dog persona same as they did with Nishiki.
      As you said, Majima in Y1 and Y2 was never intended to be a deeper character, if you look at how they conduct themselves, y1 Majima and modern day Majima isn't even the same character. Leaving him as is without any indication of his true depth for modern audience was super jarring to say the least, especially when kiwami is supposed to be the sequal to Y0 where we got the best depiction of Majima yet.

      Yakuza is a series of high emotions. Melodrama and dramatics are the bread and butter of the series. It wouldn't be the same without those

    • @CeliriaRose
      @CeliriaRose 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      One of the main inspirations for the Yakuza series was Shenmue (Toshihiro Nagoshi the founder of RGG studios and one of the key people behind the creation of the Yakuza franchise was a co-director on Shenmue). As such story, characters, and drama (and minigames) are core parts of the series. It’s basically one part crime drama, one part soap opera, with a healthy dash of action movie with minigames and comedy sprinkled on top. The combat is there and is a key aspect of the gameplay but arguably the series heart and soul is in the other elements and the combat is more to serve it’s purpose.

    • @arterplaysmelodica
      @arterplaysmelodica 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      sincerity is key. this series' emotional moments wouldn't hit as hard if it weren't "so overly dramatic".
