Last week I decided to give it a 2nd try now knowing that that was a filler arc, and I'm on the part where they are trying to save orihime... It's provided me something that One Piece couldn't. Actual weight to the characters, meaningful deaths and a storyline that has me at the edge of my seat. I'm currently at the part where Ichigo is just now entering Hueco Mundo. But let me just say this. This show, it's music, characters. For a shounen. I'm absolutely amazed by it's storytelling. It's worldbuilding feels well paced and much better than One Piece and Dragon Ball in some cases. It also feels the progression is a'lot more natural. Ichigo isn't just some overpowered shounen protagonist (neither is Goku or Luffy) But Ichigo's development just feels more satisfying to watch. He fumbles, he trips. Something Luffy had aswell. But Ichigo just feels more.. relatable? This is just a personal preference but I just like the progression in this show and how they train to get stronger to fight larger threats instead of just pulling some new power up out of thin air. They trained for it. That may change but I really, really respect that. Can't wait to see what else happens. Aizen is definitely one of the most interesting villains i've seen in awhile. Really excited to see what else is in store. 9/3 Update: Been a while since I updated. I got half way through the Arrancar arc so far and it's really, really good. The animation feels satisfying and I love the characters so far. Ulquiorra is definitely one of my favorites already. He had one of the best turnarounds i've ever seen. Really looking forward to the climax of it. Since right now they are at the part where the Vizard's just came to help out the Gotei 13. I'm excited to see what is to come. 9/10 Update: GIN!!!
