The new generations are increasing in power simply to hold back Aizen, but they will never be able to truly stop him, and if Aizen manages to kill the next most powerful person of the new generations, he will have achieved his goal. Plus, the entire reason he betrayed soul society in the first place was because he didn't like the way it was being operated, and he wanted to change that, but then after Ichigo reforms soul society to an extent and Yhwach attacks, the first thing Aizen says is "Welcome to MY soul society." Implying that Ichigo reformed soul society into what Aizen was planning to turn it into, so even though he was sealed and lost to Ichigo, Ichigo did his work FOR him, so regardless of what happened, the end result of Aizen's plan remained fullfilled. Even if being sealed was intentional or unintentional, his plan still worked.
They better play one of the many versions of Treachery during the final battle in the anime. I hope they extend it as well as we were robbed of Aizen and Ichigo teaming up.

Bleach is essentially a battle of Mary Sues competing to prove they are the Mary Sue-est. So many awesome characters, and not a character flaw among them. It's simultaneously as cool and terrible as that sounds. Aizen is the villain for the majority of the story. As an anime villain, he must follow the typical tropes of being absurdly better at doing the things that everyone else does in the show. And, because the thing that everyone else does in the show is be flawless, Aizen takes flawlessness to an absolutely absurd degree and flaunts it spectacularly. "You can make all the safeguards you want, but it will never be enough. Even if you put your heads together, he will out-think you. Take all the precautions you want against even the most unfortunate happenings like the sky falling or the earth splitting, but I can assure you, there's really no use in trying. Create all the elaborate plans you want, but his superior powers and intellect will undo any of your schemes." That's what one of his subordinates says while Aizen wipes the floor with everyone in the show and this song plays. You really feel it and believe it in that moment. He is an absolutely awesome and terrifying and despicable presence and really the only reason Bleach is even kind of worth watching.
