    I'm an Aussie Roosters fan living in the UK. I've met Price, Cronin and Sterling, and if they gave out medals for being humble men, then they'd be at the top of the list. Should be Knighted. Terrific footballers all of them.

    Ray Price 76- 86, 11 seasons, made the finals in 10 seasons, 7 Grand Finals, 4 wins, 2 mid week cups, Rothmans medallist, NSW and Australia rep. The most driven footballer I’ve ever seen. Kenny, Sterlo, Cronin, Grothe, Ella and Edge all have a claim but Price was the heart and soul of those teams. The Eel of Steel was the greatest Eel of all

    Kenny - Absolutely! The two tries in 3 consecutive GF’s alone but everything else you mentioned as well. Price - Absolutely! Compare Parramatta’s record before during and after his career. He was the driving force. Known for his high work rate and toughness but was also underrated for his skills. Sterling - Probably but several half backs in a similar class that it may be too controversial to split them.. Cronin - not quite. Many centres would be ahead of Cronin: Renouf, Ingles, Rogers, Miles… In today’s game, Cronin would be a ball playing edge forward, although I guess the same could be said for Miles but he was a shade quicker. Dragons fan here following the game since 75.

    Wally Lewis is an immortal on the basis of his 3 State of Origin performances a year. The Brisbane competition in his own words was a Freddy Flintstone competition. Lewis was not competing against quality five eighths each week. Lewis played 5 seasons in the NSWRL. In his 3 years with the Brisbane Broncos he played in 1 semi final from the bench which they lost.
    In his 2 years at the Gold Coast he won only 7 games.
    Lewis won the first ever Golden Boot award as the world’s best player for the 1984 season playing in the Brisbane competition. How is that possible? He was not even playing against the best players in Australia week after week.
    Brett Kenny played 265 games over 14 seasons in the most competitive rugby league competition in the world. He scored over 100 tries against the best players in the world. He played in 5 grand finals winning 4 and was the Clive Churchill medalist in 2 of them. Kenny and Peter Sterling are the only 2 players to play in all tests on 2 unbeaten Kangaroo tours. In a 1984 Rugby League Week interview with the Australian coach Frank Stanton, he was asked who was the best player in the game today. Stanton said that Brett Kenny was the best back and Wayne Pearce was the best forward.
    Wally Lewis played 31 games for QLD but who was he competing against in the BRL to challenge him for the five eighth position? Kenny played 17 State Of Origin games but was constantly challenged for that position by Alan Thompson, Terry Lamb, Steve Ella & Cliff Lyons etc.
    The year that Brett Kenny had in 1986 may never be duplicated. Parramatta won the Minor Premiership, the Grand Final and the Panasonic Cup. He played in the winning City Origin team. Played all 3 State Of Origin games which they won. Played all 3 tests against New Zealand which they won. He was named the games best player in the annual Rugby League Week poll judged by his peers. Won the Dally M Representative Player Of The Year. Won The Golden Boot award as the worlds best player. Played in all 5 tests on the unbeaten Kangaroo tour.

    • @troystaunton254
      @troystaunton254 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You seem to be forgetting that the first year Lewis was in the Sydney comp he won 5/8 of the year and 89/90 were ruined by injuries. You also ignore that Brett Kenny never played finals again after 86. So for 7 years he was the star of a failing team. You also ignore that while Kenny was a great 5/8 of his near 20 tests all but 3 were in the centres. Where as all but 5 of Wally’s 31 tests were at 6. So tell the whole story.

      Imagine how good the King would have been had he been conditioned on a weekly basis by playing top level rugby league in Sydney. Yet he could still turn out for QLD against NSW and win multiple man of the match awards. How good could he really have been ? Long Live The King.

    I think you are confusing champion teams with team of champions. Especially in regard to Cronin. I mean he beat Eadie's record, so.....does that mean Eadie should be in there as well because he beat Eric Simms record. With Cronin he was a great center, but not exceptional, just the perfect center to partner with Steve Ella. His greatest skill was his strength. He could suck defenders to him like flies to icecream and that opened the spaces for Ella and Kenny to weave their magic.
