    Hi Lisa! I partially agree with you here. I do feel that Tarot is a one, a whole, a representation of the archetypes that are in the core of human existence. That tarot is part of the collective unconscious. But for semantics and use of language I would say that what we call "system" do refers to the historic interpretations on the 78 cards, and we could say that there are more than 3 "systems". RWS, Thoth, and Marseille; are the current most transcendent ones, but Mary-el is its own system. We could say the same of Dreams of Gaia, maybe the same about the Minchiate, and couple more out there.
    We could even go further and say that every variation on how the 78 cards are depicted is a "system".
    Thanks again for such an interesting video and the recommendations ❣️

    My daughter just asked me for a tarot deck. I am a Thoth reader; it's just what was given to me, so that's what I learned with. I am of the opinion that if you start with Thoth, you are kind of in a good position to "get" the other styles. However, I gave my daughter a RWS based deck because I think RWS is much more relatable, easier to absorb. So I guess what I'm saying is I totally understood the series is meant for people learning the ultimate "language". I gotta agree with you. Also TWU - I think is a great choice as a modern pip deck that draws you in and is very approachable. At some point you just have to pick right?

      Thanks so much, dearie! Yes - it's arbitrary in the end what is "must-have" - and not necessarily corresponding to what I'm most in love with... At some point, you do just have to pick.... xoxo

    I would rather recommend Tarot de Marseille by Jodorowsky. Here is the description: Based on years of research with the goal of creating the definitive Tarot de Marseille, this deck is a labor of love that possesses fine details and the passionate workmanship of Phillipe Camoin--last heir to the centuries-old legacy of Marseillan cardmakers--and acclaimed artist and tarotist Alejandro Jodorowsky. Influenced most heavily by the deck of Nicolas Conver first printed in 1760

      Thanks so much @8 bit synth and @Dominique L -- Love both the Jodo-Camoin deck and Jodorowsky's book THE WAY OF TAROT... But chose the CBD for two reasons: it's slightly more neutral (fewer changes made; Jodorowsky was seeking to "restore" the deck in a way that's a bit idiosyncratic); and it's cheaper, easier to come by...

      Mindful Tarot Thank you, nice to know the reasons behind your choice. Yes, some tarot decks are quite pricey. You can check Amazon France for the Camoin deck, quite reasonably priced, but I would not know the shipping fees for US. Nice to interact with you, I enjoy your videos. I came by your channel when I was looking for a review of The Pagan Otherworlds Tarot. Was well done, I could see all the cards and was able to make my choice thanks to you!

    Oh my gosh~ Thank you for your insight. This was how I was treating the tarot. There are variations and interpretation of the tarot but one system as a whole. You have put it very well, of course you did and do your research as you say things and I learn so many things from you.

      Thank you for writing! Yes, the CBD is a great deck. I never managed to get a copy when he was still alive - I've wondered whether the US Games version is any different (e.g. different card stock or quality). I really love it, regardless!

    There is a handmade deck out by Shamankae which is a better older pip deck for me. It is old style muted. More card board with a strong back. I paid a great deal for it. The deck you hold is way too bright for me. The Moroccan deck may be better since it is less in design but still colorful. That is also very expensive lately.

    I'm enjoying this series - I am looking forward to more.
    I've been enjoying working with Marseilles lately, and while I've approached learning it as a different 'system', I've been mostly struck by how exploring thinking numerologically has enriched my reading of all decks. I like the CBD and the Fournier a lot though I don't have either (yet?). I have zero interest in ever, ever picking up Thoth - my Crowley aversion is just way too strong (and I have no desire to change that whatsoever). RWS-style will always be my tarot 'first language' though! :)

      I hear you! In later vids I'll find ways to address folks' Crowley aversion, I think!! I do get it!!

    Mitelli I believe Is the tarocchi or tarocchino ( Small tarot ) that doesnt hace the numbers 3,4 And 5 ( if I'm not wrong ) but has a different set of mayors, if i'm not mistaken It has 68 cards .. anyway I adore your vids And I'm so grateful for your time to share your experience with us.

    • @MindfulTarot
      @MindfulTarot  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tarocchini is slightly different - 2-5 are removed from the deck. The Prager is based on another variation of the game... All of these emerged as variations on game play. I don't know a lot about this - but Michael Dummett's book GAME OF TAROT goes into pretty exhaustive detail on the topic.... Anyway -thanks so much for watching and for your very very kind words!

    Do u have some vintage tarot thoth for sale?

  • @lemat2721
    @lemat2721 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Was the original thoth deck a so called greenie? Im kind of a purist when it comes to finding versions that look as close as possible to what the creator or the artist of the deck had in mind.

    • @MindfulTarot
      @MindfulTarot  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No - the Greenies were produced in the 1980s. The deck was originally published in 1969 by Samuel Weiser, with Llewellyn following soon. This website is really helpful: tarotgarden.com/blog/crowleys-thoth-tarot-edition-comparison-table/
