Just got a D20 about a week ago and it's my first tube amp. I've only used modelers until now believing that they are the equivalent to a real amp. They aren't and now I know it. I'm still using my helix with the D20 in a wet/dry/wet setup and the sound is huge. D20 in a Helix FX loop and all wet effects come through the FRFR speakers. D20 has a cab connected to it for the dry. The dry guitar remains clear and pristine but when I dial in the wet stereo sound it becomes amazing.
@@boognish23 it's pretty cool. I use overdrive blocks before the D20. My favorites are the minotaur and the tone sovereign . In combination with the D20 you can really get the amp to sing. I also found my Zen Drive 2 that I've had for 6 or 7 years. That sounds great with this amp as well.
Wow. You just completely and beautifully articulated the same evolution of tone, (in 11 minutes) that took me years to evolve into. I use a low watt 6V6 amp cranked to get that "arena rock" Marshall stack tone on the bridge pickup. I switch to the neck with a rolled back volume to get the glassy cleans. For balance I roll back the tone slightly on the bridge pickup and installed a bright cap on my neck volume pot to retain highs when rolled back. Perfect tonal balance between a crunchy neck and a glassy bridge, with one amp and no pedals. It's cool to know I have the same taste as a real professional!
I just ordered one of these! I was curious if it was sensitive enough to go from clean to gritty with just the flick of a toggle and you clearly demonstrated that it can no problem! I’m so psyched to unbox mine. Thanks for the perfect demo!
Sounds sooooo good... even without pedals ... Love the boost with gain - going to need two of them to run in stereo... Thanks a lot Shawn, it's all your fault that I have to buy two of them! ;-)
Hi Shawn love your videos amazing tone and playing..... I’m getting a Revv amp because of your videos .... Can you do a review in the Revv 1x12" Cabinet 90-watt 1x12" Extension Cabinet I wold like to get one to pair with the d20 but I can’t find any reviews on it I think wold be an excellent idea 💡 if you do the review thanks 🙏🏽
Let me see if I can get a cab and then go from there. I have played the D20 through that cab, actually extensively at Sweetwater Gearfest and I thought it sounded great!
Hey Shawn! I absolutely love all of your videos! I was wondering if you could do the same demonstration with the G20? I’m actually about to buy one and I’d love to see more videos in the G20 especially coming from you!
Yes please if you can! I am super excited to own one! And to answer your question, yes I have seen that video and I would love to see more! Thank you for replying! :)
Really helpful Shawn. I have a D20 I imported all the way to NZ and use it in my studio at home. It’s perfect with pedals but I don’t have a cab for it yet. I can’t get a Revv all the way to NZ for anything less than mega$ so I’m looking at what’s available. You use a cream back here which sounds great. Would you recommend open back with a cream back or V30 or Neo? I can get any of those variations here. Sorry to ask such a long question and thanks so much for your vids. They are an inspiration. All the best, Tim
Hi Andrew. I did and it worked perfectly. Had to pay the GST and import charge so it’s not cheap but I gotta say I love the thing! It sounds great and is so flexible. Revv in Canada are really helpful and easy to work with. Be aware that the shipping takes a while. If you want to chat email your number to tdaharding@gmail.com. Good luck.

Been eyeing a D20 and was wondering about this exact setup. Now, I'm pretty much sold.

Does this come with a footswitch?

I'll see if I can get that in the works for you but in the meantime, did you see the video I did called "Classic Tones on a Revv G20?" Thanks, Jesse!

Hi Tim. I'm in NZ too and toying with the idea of a D20. Did you import direct from Revv in Canada? In a 240V version?

Old school = good school 🎸🤘🏻my fav tone at 6:06
Thanks!!
Why advertise this as a “straight up tone” when their is obviously delay in the chain right out of the gate?
Nice buddy!!
Thanks Curt!
