Awesome! Great lesson and the tabs are a big help. Your lessons make me want to get the guitar out. Looking forward to the guitar breakdown, amp settings, and Black and Blue. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks and I am glad to hear you are getting value in these! I know the tabs are a little basic but they are there to point everyone in the right direction. I try to make it simple and informative. (And fun!). 😎🎶🎶🎶
Thanks man! I have a video coming out tomorrow morning with a very detailed look at this guitar. It’s an OU812 weekend on the channel! Much more playing and demoing in the video tomorrow. 😎☀️
Man, I love your style! You are a cool dude. You make Eddie proud to have you as player! I subscribed, had too. Thanks man. Actually my first name is Wolfgang . Now you have fans in the alps of Austria
Im not a guitar 🎸 player (drummer) but I’ve been fascinated with Eddies style and music my whole life. With your teaching style I feel confident to try playing. Simple, real, to the point. Very well done buddy! I noticed the bottle of Cabo next to you! Open, I might add. 👍
Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. I really am aiming for that. It should be simple, fun and informative. It’s nice being able to share and see people get something positive out of it. 😃👍
Killer song. Killer vid. Killer teaching. And what a KILLER axe that is!! Wow. So cool. This song had a little bit of everything. Country. Rock. Blues for days.... and even a little funky at times. Some of everything. Edward was such a master. I thought 812 was an absolutely amazing piece of work, and to this day, one of my all-time favorite albums. That said... you also show the raw power involved with this song, even tho it was radio friendly, and poppy. There's still power there. As always... you are so incredible, Marty!
Haha! Perfect. I think the summer weather and warmer vibes brings this album to me subconsciously and I am forced to play it this time of year. So we are in the same wave length! 😎
Greetings from Sunrise, FL. Grrr8 lesson here Bro! Been wanting to learn this for a while now... Awesome job👍 I've just see the video on how this song was written! 😂 What a remarkable team Eddie and Sammy were...!!! Thank You! Subscribed
Nice job Marty I loved this video... I have struggled with this main riff for years and never could quite feel the feel / vibe until this after all these years.... thanks bro nice job
Great, lesson!! 5150!! I REALLY APPRECIATE? The way you call out the notes? Instead of number of what fret or string your gonna play!! That, my friend separates the MEN, from the boys!!! I see the TRIBUTE, to sammy?? The open bottle of the CABO??? CHEERS 🥃
5150 is in that "I can't drive 55" logo, the line through a One and the circle the Zero, I thought it was a5150 logo I had not seen before then remembered Sammy.
Could you do the Don’t tell me what love can do solo? I’ve seen tabs but they’re kinda confusing I’ve also watched a video of Eddie playing it but I can’t figure it out lol
This song, being acoustic-like, truly exposes the richness of Eddie’s rhythm playing. Eddie fuses single string riffs with power chords and arpeggios on guitar like Oscar Peterson phrases on the piano.
My favorite Van Halen albums of all time. No offense to David Lee Roth pants when he left Sammy came in. Van Halen soared to new heights that has never been before. The musicianship. The lyrical content. Everything about that band was finally completed. I think at that point in time. And even after that never been a better rock band long live the mighty Van Halen
I love both eras for different reasons, but I really enjoy the Hagar stuff because it just elevated to a fresh and inspired realm. They were rejuvenated and with Hagar we were able to see the band branch out even more. Nothing against the Roth albums. They are quite perfect as is! But man… those Hagar era albums are clean and wicked.
I love old Van Halen stuff too. Sammy Hagar joined that band. That was the missing piece peace to the formula I believe you're right Sammy Van Halen albums van Hagar whatever you want to call it. They were perfection
just wound up revisiting this video because it was on my feed today Hagar and Mayer, Lee and Johnson th-cam.com/video/JOU4QVeKS6k/w-d-xo.html. then I watched the official VH video th-cam.com/video/Sp5Nd93gQ5I/w-d-xo.html. then I came to you putting up your "finished what you started" lesson. Great lesson. Oh, man, I remember that Cathouse shirt. I used to have and love that shirt, wore it all the time.. love where you got the parallel to brown eyed girl with the solo. actually you hit a lot of parallels in this song and video. Thanks!!!
Dude, thank you so much. I’ve been looking for a real lesson for this song. You are definitely a good teacher. 💪😎🎸
You’re welcome! Glad you liked the video! 😎🤟🏻
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker , I forgot to mention, that’s a sweet guitar.

Thanks man! I spotlight this guitar in a video tomorrow morning. More jamming too!!! 🤟🏻😎🤟🏻
I was JUST thinking a day or two ago that I needed to find a good lesson for this song. Get out of my head! Thanks so much

Cool man! Thanks for the nice feedback. And you’re welcome!! Glad you are enjoying them. More to come. 🎶🎶🎶
I once saw a Mesa Boogie Triple rectifier and actually got to touch it. It was a spiritual moment I will never forget
Loved this and loved the Sammy years. Respects to both Dave and Sam!!
Thanks Timothy! I loved both eras too. Amazing years. 🙌

Great lesson brother. Don’t forget the octave slides he does live as well as an outro if you ever do it live.
Great, lesson!! 5150!!

Thanks for taking it for a spin man 👍
You’re welcome man. Appreciate you checking it out!
Great !
Thanks man!!
Great video! Please correct me if I'm wrong here. To my ear, he is not using a pick on the studio version.
5150 is in that "I can't drive 55" logo, the line through a One and the circle the Zero, I thought it was a5150 logo I had not seen before then remembered Sammy.
You got it man! This guitar is homage to Sammys’s OU812 Kramer he used back then. Not a replica but a top of the hat to his yellow Kramer.
Was never a fan of the hagar days but eddie never disappointed his fans
I understand. I love but he eras so much. Hagar years were my teen years so I have very fond memories.
You're good!🙂
Thank you! Glad you liked the video. 😎🙌
Could you do the Don’t tell me what love can do solo? I’ve seen tabs but they’re kinda confusing I’ve also watched a video of Eddie playing it but I can’t figure it out lol
I don’t see why not. I’ll take a listen to it!

Good point and observation. This was a great example of him branching out tonally and stylistically.
I agree Sammy era!! Ou812 from bigginng to end
Man the Kramer is almost exact to Sammy's just need the Bondurant racing sticker
True man! I look at it as an inspired version. 😎🤟🏻
Nice transcription but missing the closing phrase in the lead.... thanks for sharing!
Nice ax
Thanks man, I appreciate that. 🤟🏻😎🤟🏻
Its actually hybrid picked as is the solo.
Another great lesson but this one requires a lot of practice and patience.
Thanks so much! I appreciate the kind words and you checking out the video. But is trickier than one would think!
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker Eddie's playing is always a challenge but we have the best guitar instructor here, hands down!
Just got back from the best cat house in town
Yeh baby!!!
interestingly it was recorded on a Strat - single coil
