The label didn't fail him... The fact is just that the American market isn't for him... Yes he sounds like them, but so does every other upcoming rapper in the USA... Weird accents are only glorified when your a light skinned attractive hun like Tyla, but if your like Nasty C an average dark skinned dude with a weird accent everyone will interpret that as being dumb and uneducated and no one will take you seriously. I mean look at Jacob Zuma for instance he has a weird accent no one takes him seriously even if he is saying something that's smart people will focus more on the accent and making fun of it. He's going at it the wrong way. They all are. What makes you known in any place you go to? Word of mouth. It's how blxckie was able to blow up at the rate he did. If you're an artist that wants to blow up you need things,1. know and master the craft with your own style. Thereby you won't need to be overthinking when you're doing the second step. 2. Collaborate with artists. Don't be putting it out there that you are reaching out to people. Put in the work. Try to associate with artists that side. I believe Shane Eagle fumbled the ball by not trying into being in the revenge of the dreamers album. Bro, everyone was there. BUDDY, BAS, JID, SABA, EARTHGANG, ARI and a lot others. If he really wants it he should be out at these particular camps. Dreamville, Pivot Gang, Cordea's High Level, KOTA The Friend, Alex Isley, Jack Dine, Masego, Naji, Anderson Paak and all the likes. He can even try being around people close to Mike Dean. That'll give him a solid foundation. Collaborate with good musicians as well as people with motion.
The label isn't failing him... Nasty is a pop artist out there... Hiphop is street out in the US and the harsh fact is that Nasty C is super soft and there's nothing they can relate to even though he sounds like them
True the only way for an artist like Nasty is just buy awards & radio play coz nothing about his music resonate with rap fans, if Nasty was fortunate to get around circles like TWC then he would sell but now he's just surrounded by pop guys & label employees so his music stand no chance in the streets especially in the long run. He can't authentically rap about grinding to a milli coz all he did was sign one label contract after another, so he clearly lacks that racks to riches story, he can only lie about it in the raps. His only hope is to go fully commercial like AKA but that would take lots of money, connections & creative ideas like fill up.
all i can say is that labels don't actually help an artist in building their career because i was expecting nasty c to be working with the likes of Chris brown and them, the way Davido is doing currently but who is trying to make that happen? only Nasty c but that's supposed to be the labels job at the same time the label is supposed to help nasty c by making him collaborate with other established or known artists in the label. you never because remember nasty c signed with def jam as the distribution of his music but still owns himself maybe that's why he is nit popping in the states yet.
Talent alone won't make him reach there...he gotta take the oath that's if he hasn't he gotta be active more within the society and eventually he'll go up the rank.
Nasty C's numbers are decreasing for the simple fact that he just doesn't understand that he can't copy & perfect An "American style & sound" better than the Americans themselves. He just needs to go back to the "Nasty C" that DEF Jam fell in love with in the 1st place
The label did not fail him i have said This before imagine a Nigerian coming to south Africa and starts Making Amapiano songs , He wouldnt be received well Just like nasty c he sounds Just like manay American Rappers his not unique to them but unique to us ,
I don't know how people think nasty c can be allowed to grow in the usa, just think about it, you can allow an America to move to sa and try to be big in ama piano?IN SA?🤣let's be serious . The signed him to kill his career, this guy is going nowhere as long as he stays signed to an American label.
5 years from now this wont matter because nasty c understands that consistency is the key ....you come with a classic they come years later to say it's a sleeper...the album was actually really engineered in a great way
Also feel like Nasty C doesn't have anything unique from Africa to offer the US market as he sounds exactly or even better than them...they already have up and coming US artists in the US its a saturated market, so unless Nasty C capatalizes on his Africaness and offers something unique like a blend of HipHop and Amapiano sound(That's where Phori could come in handy) I dont see Americans getting interested/intrigued by him the only thing he has to offer is a market for American Rappers in Africa but has nothing to offer the global audience as his sound is familiar and his accent.
Now its hard to get in by just being a rapper , i think he has a chance but the chance its not likely. He needs to come home , focus on being bigger here thats probably the way for him to enter the market if his sound is as from home as possible.
Hip hop is not doing good everywhere guys , afro beats is taking over in America as , example Chris browns 11:11 only had afro beats as hits in comparison with RnB songs , so labels are about their bag the go for artists who has potential to be cash cows
Yeah, i agree Def jam is falling him but i believe nasty isn't dumb his very smart that's why his still the best out here. Don't be shocked if nasty leave Def jam anytime coz his pushing by himself in the US, and guyz you like it or not NASTY C WILL BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST ARTIST'S GLOBALLY NOT JUST THE US!!!!!!.😐
I feel like nasty c is a threat to American hiphop so theyll find ways to black ball him but in due time bro will get his big break globally..i still believe with his talent ..he can do it ..
All l know nasty c is smart enough to make a deal that suitable for him and he doesn't want to be exploited by the label only to find out he can't get out because of the rules if daf jam is not doing him good he will take off the boy is going far anyone thinking otherwise get some glasses and see his future the boy knew he was going to be famous before fame and he never fails def jam is helping him well there to network and he knows you don't chase success or you will trip and fall let the boy pave his way soon he will get that Grammy
Now do Sho Madjozi and Elaine. Cause they also signed to international labels. Yet no one is putting a magnifying glass on them. Lol But Def Jam definitely is failing. I think it might be dude to him not signing a 360. Cause with a 360 we see the impact instantly.
Nasty is gonna be the biggest artist to come out of Africa with Def Jam being a key player on that happening. There are strategies.. global hip hop is weird. If you put in the work and look the other way here and there, you’re definitely gonn be huge
I think Def Jam is the wrong label for Nasty, as much as he was inspired by the US, that's how Nasty raps and we love him for it, Imagine Nasty with a Drake feature or a Kendrick tour, he would be exposed to his market within the US, I'm not saying he would take off cause the US music industry is like popcorn cause our attention spans are fvxked, buuut Nasty is a lot like Drake, he can make a catchy song, he just prides himself on lyricism, he just needs 1 US hit but they want SexxyRedd now... maybe it is political, to keep black women disrespected.
He failed himself when he decided he wants to twerk for Americans. You will always be an outsider there’s no matter who you know and what you do, or how good you do it.
After seeing this video its seems like Def jam is slowing down Nasty C deliberately, there is no sign that he was signed by a Global record label up until this Video. I also think it has nothing to do with American style or blending with RSA style the guy is dope and the fans like what he is doing. Some of us here in the comment section like to pull our brothers down when they are trying to make money, Hip hop is Global no one is owning a Style, Nas Stole from Biggy and Rakwon and people loved him so stop your trash talk about that man. Nasty do your thing leave your haters talking because that's their job. Disclaimer: im not Nasty C fan i would choose Mtee over Nasty C but now we must support him because he is representing us South Africans.
Yall need to call a spade a spade. Def Jam doesn't give him support,, all they do is get him in rooms to take pics with big celebrities and that's that. They don't fund his albums to get good features. All his international features were pap. Only one that make sense since been ASAP Ferg and French Montana... The Recent albums since Def Jam are mid and chart for 1 day. Last good album was Strings and Blings. His fans need to admit the change in sound was a bad idea. Last good song was Eazy.
Lol. Don't be shallow minded. Nasty c has always been destined for international market, and you're telling us about Ambitious? All their artist charted local charts and nobody there ever made it to the outside SA market.
@@mvalson7663 The reason Nasty C stood out locally was coz he sounded international but now he can’t penetrate the US market because they all sound the same I mention Ambitious because their artists made music that had African feel to it.
I am not gona say Def Jam this or Nasty C that.,just come back home where you are appreciated and where international artist can properly recognize you
Honestly, Americans discredit Africans to some low standard. They got their own perception of how Africa should be. Literally from how we speak, how we dress, and how African music should sound like. If you talk good English, it’s a shock to them… of which to us it’s not. Central Cee does drill, and he’s big in the US, yet he’s not from there. Ella Mai got big in the US, doing American sounding RnB. But for Tyla, she has to have an African feel or else they trying to sound American. Same thing for Tems, Burna and anyone else from Africa.
The boy got talent of the level of Kanye, drake, Jay z if truth be spoken. Unfortunately forces beyond his paycheck are in control, not forgetting his own choice of explicit cursing words contribute to less numbers. Check history and you will find out that curse words other than the n word don't help.
@@AfricanCelebs101 well.. He basically said that Nasty C was trying too hard to appeal to Americans, and that he'd fail to breakthrough in that market because he doesn't have a more South African sound

He can't go to America and give them what they already have at a super talented way. He was to stay the way he came up, but he changed that, and that's not what they signed him for... THEY TOOK HIM AS AN AFRICAN TALENTED RAPPER NOT AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSICIAN... THEY ALREADY HAVE THAT....

He is only about to hit his prime, Nasty C will hit the pinnacles we want for him.
Talent alone won't make him reach there...he gotta take the oath that's if he hasn't he gotta be active more within the society and eventually he'll go up the rank.
They want him to take the oath and boy won't do it
Nasty C's numbers are decreasing for the simple fact that he just doesn't understand that he can't copy & perfect An "American style & sound" better than the Americans themselves. He just needs to go back to the "Nasty C" that DEF Jam fell in love with in the 1st place
Its not easier to sell a product that is already there. America have millions of nasty cs.
I empathize with the guy😢. He'll make in the US one day
He just needs a WATER, labels can’t really do much without Hits
The label did not fail him i have said This before imagine a Nigerian coming to south Africa and starts Making Amapiano songs , He wouldnt be received well Just like nasty c he sounds Just like manay American Rappers his not unique to them but unique to us ,
I don't know how people think nasty c can be allowed to grow in the usa, just think about it, you can allow an America to move to sa and try to be big in ama piano?IN SA?🤣let's be serious . The signed him to kill his career, this guy is going nowhere as long as he stays signed to an American label.
5 years from now this wont matter because nasty c understands that consistency is the key ....you come with a classic they come years later to say it's a sleeper...the album was actually really engineered in a great way
Also feel like Nasty C doesn't have anything unique from Africa to offer the US market as he sounds exactly or even better than them...they already have up and coming US artists in the US its a saturated market, so unless Nasty C capatalizes on his Africaness and offers something unique like a blend of HipHop and Amapiano sound(That's where Phori could come in handy) I dont see Americans getting interested/intrigued by him the only thing he has to offer is a market for American Rappers in Africa but has nothing to offer the global audience as his sound is familiar and his accent.
it is always the labels!
Now its hard to get in by just being a rapper , i think he has a chance but the chance its not likely.
He needs to come home , focus on being bigger here thats probably the way for him to enter the market if his sound is as from home as possible.
People shouldn't compare his situation to Tyla. Its 2 completely different genres, Hip Hop being way more competitive that side.
Exactly, its easier to blow up with Amapiano and Afrobeats as its a new sound that people are intrigued by.
& tyla is an industry plant
Mzansi A-listers is our Blackspeakz❤
Hip hop is not doing good everywhere guys , afro beats is taking over in America as , example Chris browns 11:11 only had afro beats as hits in comparison with RnB songs , so labels are about their bag the go for artists who has potential to be cash cows
as an ivyson WE NEED CZZLE TO GET OUT OF THIS DEF JAM THING & FOCUS ON HIM SELF
Def jam is an American label no?
lmao Def Jam is a USA Big Label with artists like Kanye , Jayz etc
So where Def Jam from?
Nasty doesn’t wanna drop hard shiit anymore…
This is a well researched video
Nasty C don’t look for features just do what you do and feature people you like and you want.
They give him B class Artist to ft with hence he is still not seen fully in the USA
They trying to blackball him because they don’t want SA to beat them in their own “genre”
That's a lie 😂...Rap is not even doing that well in the Stated
Facts
He isn't even on the level of the worst rappers there
States bruh😂😂😂@@lwazisomtsewu356
This is possible the dumbest comment on here😂😂
All l know nasty c is smart enough to make a deal that suitable for him and he doesn't want to be exploited by the label only to find out he can't get out because of the rules if daf jam is not doing him good he will take off the boy is going far anyone thinking otherwise get some glasses and see his future the boy knew he was going to be famous before fame and he never fails def jam is helping him well there to network and he knows you don't chase success or you will trip and fall let the boy pave his way soon he will get that Grammy
I'm good with THE BABY BOY ❤
Even worse... We're still waiting for him to do Sway In The Morning. PROPERLY!!!
" dropping much as i do got your agreement in breach" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Already waiting
HE DIDNT SIGN A SLAVE DEAL
HE IS FREE TO DO WHATEVER SO THEY DONT DO MUCH
Now do Sho Madjozi and Elaine.
Cause they also signed to international labels. Yet no one is putting a magnifying glass on them. Lol
But Def Jam definitely is failing. I think it might be dude to him not signing a 360. Cause with a 360 we see the impact instantly.
Nasty is gonna be the biggest artist to come out of Africa with Def Jam being a key player on that happening. There are strategies.. global hip hop is weird. If you put in the work and look the other way here and there, you’re definitely gonn be huge
lol
Nasty c is talented but yeah his sound is American so won't be surprised he does amapiano like his verse on lemonade.
The Reason the label is failing him is because he is not on a 360 Deal
I wouldn’t say that’s the main reason, but that’s a strong point.
Whats Pound 5 ?
Yes Def Jam really is failing our goat if anything I hope he don't get shelved
He won't sell his soul
He's been shelved. I don't know how long his contract is but I hope it's coming to an end soon.
I like your show brah,u all about fact.i hope nasty c can see this and find help❤
He's going to have to move to America just like Tyla if he wants to make it there
Tyla got a Travis Scott feature before Nasty C 💔💔💔💔💔💔
I made this video is a year ago, I like it for real. ❤️
The only rapper better than Nasty is Drake. The label is failing him!
Universal music was better they gave us strings and bling
When Eazy dropped and they didn't EVEN TRY, I was very disappointed.
It hurts, but yea, they signed him to eat off him in AFRICA, not the other way.
Watch Blxckie make more Moves than Nasty C 🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nah, they didn't fail him, y'all reaching every artist has up & down whether they're signed or not
All South African Hip hop artists should humble themselves and ask Ambitious Entertainment for the formular.
@@NEViGiVEN Absolutely. Ambitious has been exceptional, locally. But none of their artists made it outside SA market.
I am not gona say Def Jam this or Nasty C that.,just come back home where you are appreciated and where international artist can properly recognize you
Nasty C has enough talent , but lacks the versatility required for Global stardom.
I want Nasty C ft Drake Lil Wayne Rihanna that's what I want😢
He could do it if he puts his mind to it
Honestly, Americans discredit Africans to some low standard.
When you a threat to the states market they gonna come and get you.
They signed the kid just to silence him🤞
They still haven’t even worked on his visa to allow him to sell his brand in the states and it’s heading for the 3rd year
The boy got talent of the level of Kanye, drake, Jay z if truth be spoken. Unfortunately forces beyond his paycheck are in control, not forgetting his own choice of explicit cursing words contribute to less numbers. Check history and you will find out that curse words other than the n word don't help.
I guess NOTA was right about Nasty C
And nobody listened when he said it
And Nota was right shame as much as I hate Nota but HE WAS RIGHT.
@@ogchelseafan9355 What did nota say about nasty C guys???
@@elonemerson9977 What did nota say about nasty C guys???
@@AfricanCelebs101 well.. He basically said that Nasty C was trying too hard to appeal to Americans, and that he'd fail to breakthrough in that market because he doesn't have a more South African sound
Lil Durk has been trying to leave Def Jam. He just became big after leaving the label & he's on SA radio daily. Nasti C should've went to USA independently and start from scratch like Trevor and Black Coffee did.
Nasty C is now a solo Artist he left Def Jam long time now ,day boy moving Dolly now please report on relevant news📰
I think maybe because nasty c didn't wanna be mixed with the freaky shid that's going on in the music industry in the states.
Nasty c is talented enough. The label is playing dirty on him🤞🏿💔
There is nothing special about him as a rapper.... He failed himself
I hear your point but it's not him,it's the label. If there's a key thing in being at the top : it's being consistent and he didn't for the past few years and so many things have changed during those years. He'll bounce back though,he is Nasty C after all
❤🔥
They trana destroy him hey cause his a pure soul 😢
