To be honest, I work exclusively with a light background. My architectural brain works in such a way that I always need to have a sense of how the drawing will look on paper. For the background, I use HEX #7D773, Pantone Elephant Skin color. All my layers are usually variations of black. I have a few secondary layers in red and orange, and one blue for waterproofing, and that's it. I also turn on line thickness to clearly see what's thin and what's thick. It's true that the eyes get more tired, but when I see a drawing with purple, green, yellow... lines, I just can't clearly perceive what's going on. Maybe you could recommend some good colors that simulate paper and are easy on the eyes? In any case, an interesting topic."
Thanks for sharing! I always like to hear about other users settings! I definitely used to work similarly, light background and use actual colors for everything how it would display when printed. I think over the years I've just learn how things will look regardless of the dark background and random colors so I can almost just see it or picture it how the drawings will actually look and not how they're displayed if that makes sense. But ya the dark mode is nicer on the eyes, especially when pulling 8 to 10 hours of drafting time a day! i think for me, I like light greys or tans for my backgrounds to keep things easier on the eyes and then the colors also appear somewhat similar/simulated to how they'd plot on paper. Thanks so much for watching and the comment!! Cheers, Brandon
Ok. Don't lie. You did this video in response to my comment on your last video. It's just too much of a "coincidence". Truth be told, I've been doing this ACAD thing for so long that I've forgotten what I once knew. This brought back memories of my struggling with trying to understand all the OPTIONS setttings from early days. I am gratefull for you presenting this in such a straight-forward way. I'm going to give Paper Space color schemes a closer look. Now only if TH-cam compression algorithms could make your screen readable and not fuzzed out. p.s. In my version I can get to OPTIONS by right clicking for a pop-up menu and selecting the very bottom item, or, in the very top left corner selecting the BIG A and there is an OPTIONS button near the bottom. p.p.s. There is no Paper Background option in ACAD Civil 3D 2013, which is what I am using.
totally! your comment definitely helped, I've had a video about customizing colors on the list for a while and when I replied to your comment last week it reminded me to get around to making one. Thank you! Glad it helped with the options settings for you. Ya it can be easy to forget all these commands and weird options buried in the software for sure! Oh and it shouldn't be fuzzy, maybe check the youtube settings (little gear button) to make sure you have 1080p as the quality setting, sometimes it will default to a low quality depending on your internet and settings. Thanks for watching and commenting too!! Cheers

Options> Display > Colors… > Color: Black
That will change your background from dull gray/ black to Jet Black :)
