- Cursor jumps while typing in Windows 10? Abnormalities while typing? Please try this simple method and let's know if this works for you. Click on Windows start button I settings I Devices I Mouses and touchpad I additional mouse options I Pointer options I uncheck "hide mouse while typing" I apply and Ok

Pointer is already hidden while typing. This doesn't solve anything. I also updated all drivers. Still the same problem - cursor jumps up and down, clicks open things like Word, Excel, photos. It's irritating.
did not fix, the box was not checked and mouse is jumping while i am typing this response
Yay! Solved my problem after a year of this on my new laptop. Cannot count how many times I've gone to type a sentence and poof, half a page of text suddenly disappears because the cursor suddenly jumped, highighted a bunch of text and then I typed over it, and it's all gone. Thankfully undo brought back all the text :-) Even more thankful now with the fix

Didn't work for me either,
but I eventually found out that my problem was my laptop touchpad which I had left enabled while working with my MS mouse.
If the recommendation above does not work for you and if you have a laptop, you should check your touchpad as well.

I was already unchecked but mouse pointer was jumping. Bottom line this DID NOT fix my problem. I fix it and Microsoft sends an update and the problem is back. Need another solution.

Thank you. It is disappointing that windows has not made this the default setting by now. This is what happens when we constantly try to fix things that aren't broken: we end up with new versions of things that have more problems and are less functional than earlier versions. We get force fed advertising all our lives that equates "new" with "improved" and those words have two very different definitions, as evidenced with this problem. Thank you again for helping to make my computer function the way it should have functioned from the beginning.

this mostly happens with touch panel devices that uses usb mouse, try calibrating your touch screen, every mfg has their own touch panel calibration software. download it and run it with atleast 60% battery power is available. I am doing this and it works if m not using chrome for 2~5 hrs and keep doing this repeatedly, I am using safari and mozila as an alternative of chrome.

There is no mouse & touchpad on settings.
My list is different than yours. Hide Pointer While Typing was Not Checked. I'm using Word 2010 in Microsoft 10. This is what my screen looks like.
It worked for 5 Mins, Again same problem starts

i think you mean 'stop cursor blocking my sight of what i am typing' as this setting does not stop cursor jumping in mid sentence to appear in a different paragraph, and all of a suddden 'my name is john i like pizza' becomes 'my name is john like pizza'

thats a load of rubbish. Obviously made in India. Cursor Jump comes from 1. your palm not being rejected by the stupid trackpad which they insist on making ever bigger and place in front of keyboard so you slide your thumb acrouss it when typing, displacing the cursor, not a software error. 2. Json scripts on websites, in a browser, with 'cursor focus' commands will interfere with your typing too. I am an author and webmaster and computer geek and i know there i only one way to stop cursor jump; switch of touchpad/trackpad and use an external one, or buy tat asus laptop with the touchpad on the right instead of just where you place your palms to type. most stupid design that exists since the invention of the laptop and still gets in the way of typing, makes you get a curved spine from a keyboard 6 inches further away than it should be (due to tracjpad eating up the whole front 40% of the laptop surfac! could just put where numberpad is on a full size keyboard the nincompoops)
