Hi Alan, when I took electronics, the first thing I learned, never leave your fingerprints on the tubs or glass. The fuses..the oils on your skincare cause the tube to have hot spots, uneven heating that will cause it to fail . Just a tech fact I thought you should know. Wipe the tubes with a cotton or microfiber cloth. Same for the glass fuse.. Good video work. Thank you Alan
Better you than me, my dude! I have a Blues Jr. but luckily nothing has killed it yet. I'm a freaking electronic engineer, so I figured "yeah, I could probably work on something like that", but articles I've read scare the bejeezus out of me! Several hundreds volts!?!?!! Still present maybe even hours after you unplug it!?!?! wtf??? I'm not touching that shit!!! Glad it turned out for you :)
Depends on the amp I think. I didn’t touch anything inside the amp except a fuse with a multimeter. You can and should discharge capacitors but I knew I wasn’t going to be anywhere near them.
I'm with you on the whole tube snobbery. The only difference I ever heard was replacing the v1 12ax7 with one of the lower gain versions; and that's just because changes in gain are perceived as changes in tone. Good job on the fix! It will probably be fine, the fuse was there to keep a blown tube from taking anything else with it
I saw a massive difference...once...I switched from a generic chinese 12ax7 in my valvestate vs100 to a n.o.s. american 7025, huge tone upgrade which I honestly wasn't expecting, I just wanted it to run a little quieter, which it also does now thanks to that tube, alot of the time though it seems like a placebo effect
The bias on these is way too high! That's why they destroy the tubes in the same way every time, nice one Fender! You need to alter the bias resistor. You haven't fixed it it will happen again! They run way too hot!
@GearGasms, good video, as usual. I have one of these and I replaced my speaker with the Cannibis Rex. Much meatier, especially when it comes to my Gibson guitars. I am glad I got mine right before the price hike, so I paid less than $500 (with Robert Jackson's help, if anyone wants to check out his channel and reach out to him). Of course, now, the price is almost $250 more than the base of what I paid! Crazy, right?
La muerte es mi nombre, I’ve come for your capacitors and tubes! On the moon we use amazon blue origins prime, its expensive AF and delivery is never same day but we have very limited delivery options.
I heard Trogly.... good imitation. By the way, I have stopped drinking beverages while watching your videos. Tired of the mess. Your humor is what I grew up with. Words, timing and well like Norm Crosby.... Using a similar sounding word with a different definition. Or George Carlin. Thanks man !

I was thinking that same thing ala landscaping bulbs but tubes were not covered in the 80s in my classes
@@GearGasms well when I took electronics/electrical engineering, tubes and resisters, capacitors, were about , 1967

Alan -- your abilities are limitless. Great video.
My disabilities are endless! 😜 thanks
Subscribed to you I think ytr or 2 days ago. Never regret it! Thank you for your time and effort on these videos. It helps!
Thank you and welcome to the family! 🎸🤘🏻
Your best vid for ages... sell it and get A Bassman ☮
Lol - thanks Robin! It sure was different!

Thanks - it was a great feeling to bring it back on my own!

I think there may be more of a noticeable change when it’s preamp tubes
The good power tubes always sound the best;their really is very little difference in their tone Great video. Funny!🎸👍
Thanks GT!
Happy Friday Alan.👋
You too Gary! Enjoy your weekend!

It won’t happen again because I won’t leave it on for a week again lol
Very cool
Thanks Park!
Every time I get one of these in my shop it's always the same thing.
🎸
A dead amp = great TH-cam content :) Happy Friday!
Thanks Alex! I was just glad to save it!

Yeah I was surprised at how much it went up!

Yeah the moon needs to step it up, infrastructure wise
@@GearGasms seriously. Soo many lava tubes so little gear!
Good job on the fix, but I’m not gonna lie…that fuse that’s too short ramps my OCD up to about an 8. Happy Friday!
Yeah it bothers me too lol
I bet that you’re one of the few left who can read an analog multi meter ?
Lol this is digital but yeah. Not so old that I know a lot about tubes though
Definitely needs a re bias
🤘🏻

Thank you more!
It’s always my fault according to my wife!!
And they’re never wrong!
Oh nooo está muerto :'l
Lol pero no por muchas horas!
