    What an awesome adventure, thanks for taking us! You are so versatile, you cook, you saw, you do handyman work & a lot more. You are an awesome role model for aging gracefully, enjoying life + healthy relationship. And John always shows his admiration for you....just heaven on earth!!!

    Thank you for this glorious walk, wow, so beautiful. I love how you inspire me to get out more often. I still haven’t purchased my campervan, I’m still researching. Also, I cried when you saw John, and he said what big eyes you have…the look on your face when you saw him shows how much love and the excitement of seeing your partner in life. Such a beautiful relationship. Blessed Be.

    I'm 65, had a full hip replacement three years ago, (fmr. seasonal climbing guide/Rainier), so I CAN APPRECIATE everything you're doing, accomplishing. The fact that you're still doing these activities tells me volumes....that you've been ACTIVE your whole life. It' so EASY when you're young, or younger; the real trick is to keep grinding the older you get. THAT is the ultimate challenge. KUDOS to you and the channel, the sheer amount of WORK involved, like: for your POV, camera angles, sequences, etc.= MORE than 15 miles!! Lastly, for me....I keep a dedicated daypack, pre-packed, ready to go. The only thing I have to do is fill up the water bottles. I found this much easier to do....rather than constantly having to "build" my kit, assemble the items from multiple backpacks, etc. (I have a 20L pack for day-hike stuff: space blanket, rain pants, wool hat, first aid, paracord, knife, etc. For anything longer, I use a 65L pack, again....pre-assembled, ready to go.) And....DON'T forget the MOLESKIN and BEAR SPRAY!

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thankfully, I haven't had the need for moleskin in many decades. Thank goodness for new materials. I guess those new materials include much better replacements for joints. John also had a hip replacement and I'm so glad he can still hike. Yes, I need to have my kit ready to go--I'll work on that.

    My wife and I just spent some time at Four Jeffrey campground near Bishop. Couldn’t stop staring at the beautiful mountains. Never saw so many stars in the sky in my life. The eastern Sierra are just gorgeous! (Wouldn’t mind taking my last breath there). Also, we just came from South Lake Tahoe. Woke up with heavy smoke and ash falling on our campground. Hope your family is safe with all the evacuations.

    I just found your channel and am so glad I did. I've been camping since I was 9 years old with my folks. Now at 71 I try to get out on weekends and solo hike. After my daughter chastised me for not leaving a note on my trailer when hiking in Capitol Reef NP last September, I bought an InReach. It's better than leaving a note on your rig which can be an invitation to those rare campers with no scruples. Joe S from Seal Beach CA

Water, yep I always make sure now that I'm prepared to have enough. My friend and I hiked to the top of Half Dome in the early 70's to spend the night and we didn't bring enough water with us. Luckily a couple also hiked up that evening and shared some water with us. You learn as you go. Thanks for sharing this beautiful hike and I'm going to check out your hiker channel recommendations. Debbie, you set a god example. Judy and I did a 12.7 round trip to Pear Lake Hut in Sequioa N.P. last year - at 68.5 years young. We started very early - its was darned cold - which actually made the uphill part of the hike go much easier as we did not get hot.

    Another awesome video Debbie. Your comment on Advil and knee pain reminded me of a mini Yosemite vacation a few years back. Usually after a few days spring skiing around with my son (34 years my junior) Tahoe’s north shore, we head down to Yosemite to finish our vacation and hike a little. Well, we decided to do the upper Yosemite Falls hike in early May. Going up was easy, and crossing the snow fields at the top was refreshing. About half way down my knees hurt so bad I really questioned if I would make it to the parking lot. I did and that’s a good thing all I had to do for the rest of the trip was sit on a flight back east. I am also 67 and will remember to bring Advil next time I go hiking! Thanks, Tom

      Too often we underestimate the toll downhill takes on our knees. Glad you made it and still hit the trail.

      @@FromShetoMe was trying to figure the timing on this video, streams running well for a drought summer. Late May or June?

    Thanks for sharing your lovely hike and another beautiful video. Loved the Maxwell Smart comment from John, made me laugh and was a second confirmation you two are from the same generation as me....😆. Good thing we don't have to take off a shoe to make a call 😉. Thanks for more gear tips.
