    Tysm! I replaced my filter cause if I ran it for a little longer then 10ish minutes it would sound like a jet engine that could be heard throughout my house. Got it in the mail and I was very confused by the directions. Good video!

    Thanks man, helped me see the piece I missed. The little part that controls how far the u tube slides fell out, couldn't figure out why the u tube still had a little bubble of air in it. Found the piece and popped it in and boom, all set!

    I was curious... would this filter be sufficient to double as an oxygenator? Or, would you still use an air pump with this filter running? 🤔

    • @Mgm_Designs
      @Mgm_Designs  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it agitates the water surface tension so yes it can provide oxygen as well as filtration. If you want to supply additional oxygen with an air pump you can also.

    Best HOBF for any smaller tank setup.. I also add purigen into it and cover with filter floss on top and your tank remains super clear and smooth - in a curved hooks tank like Blau, the water surface circulation and agitation will be best

    • @Mgm_Designs
      @Mgm_Designs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I totally agree, I made a new video about a good quality water circulation pump recently, check it out if you want.

      @@Mgm_Designs oh thank you .. I will .. thing is that I am only having few 5 or 7 gallon tanks that are not suitable for fish but design creations and doing just fine and no algae etc given epiphytes only and very low light and I can easily top off the water each day a little and be good but still better circulation for surface is a drama… HOBF pushes water IN the tank while you need it over the surface, air bubble stones seem to reduce CO2 that already is low in a low tech unless on the top of tank and that’s aesthetically not possible and rather useless lower too .. I hope the future models add replaceable features to the airflow cap part ..

    Thanks for making this video. I was wondering if i should use x2 aqua clear 50s or x2 aqua clear 30s for a 40 gallon tank? Which is the better more suitable option? The tank will have 2 or 3 small fancy goldfish and maybe a school of white clouds.

    Fluval, "AquaClear" make the best filter. You can change out one of the three filters media things individually so you keep that good bacteria running full time.

    How about changing the filter? Do we replace them and discard the old filter or we wash them and put it back on?

    • @Mgm_Designs
      @Mgm_Designs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sponge and the bag of rocks (biological media) stay but after about 3 - 4 months the bag of activated carbon stops working, so it needs to be replaced, otherwise, everything else just needs to be rinsed out and put back into the filter. Make sure to clean the impeller also, it may get stuck in small debris.

    biofilter mesh bag goes thru the red loop, folds over, an red collar is then applied. That's what the instructions show, but I needed a magnifying glass to see that.

  • @Sky_Lit_Pilot
    @Sky_Lit_Pilot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I feel like this is a dumb question, but do you have to change out the filter inserts? Also this video was extremely helpful! Great work!

    • @Mgm_Designs
      @Mgm_Designs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually its a very good question, the stock filter inserts only have to be rinsed from time to time when the filter gets full, and the activated carbon bag is the only thing that needs to be replaced. Activated carbon absorbs organic waste like a sponge but its a one time use item. If anything, the good thing about this filter is you can choose what kind of media you want, so you can add your favorite products to this filter if you want.

    • @Mgm_Designs

    • @Mgm_Designs
      @Mgm_Designs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get the 50 or the 70, more filtration is better than less. You'll do less frequent water changes because there's more beneficial bacteria to break down the waste coming into the filter. One of my 10 gallon tanks uses the 20, and the water is always crystal clear.

    Can i use this filter on sea water but with corals just clown fishes and real stones???

    • @Mgm_Designs
      @Mgm_Designs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, definitely, just make sure you get the proper size to filter your tank properly. Usually if your tank is 30 gals, get a 50 gallon filter, if the tank is 50 gals, get the 70 or the 110gal filter. This will ensure the water gets filtered cleaner and faster. Most filter companies make their filters under powered so always get a more powerful model that does just a bit more than the recommended filter.

    • @Mgm_Designs
      @Mgm_Designs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, especially if you're using it in a saltwater tank, the water will conduct electricity 10x more violently than in normal water. And about the cloudy water, how long ago was the tank set up?
