Pick up an Ed Brown chain link mainspring housing for it. It will really make it look so much better than the cheap checkered plastic. With shipping it runs about $62.
With the Wilson mags check the top of it and see if it hits the internal ejector. Be carful it might hit and and damage the bottom of it and cause failures.
Congratulations on your purchase, you produced a great very thorough high definition video on this Kimber 1911! I’ve wanted one of these Raptor 1911’s for quite a few years since seeing one or two on the Tv show Breaking Bad. Btw, You’ll love those Wilson Combat magazines. Congratulation ! it is a nice gun bro. it is in my wish list because the price is so high now. :) I am shooting with a Kimber Custom TLE 2 and I like it too.
@@GunnySideUp finally I got me a Kimber raptor special edition pistol. Still had some hiccup but it was not too crazy. It failed to feed about 15 round out of the first 300 rounds. 😊
Hey congrats on the new gun! Hey do you know where I can get one of those? When I go on kimbers website all I see is the raptor stainless but it’s in satin finish. Do you know where I can get the polished version?
not really, I have had a couple malfunctions where the slide doesn't close all the way but I am told it's because it needs to be broken in, overall I really love it
@@GunnySideUp hi thank you for your response. My local shop has a couple for sale but they’re been up for months while the Springfield got sold as soon as they hit the shelves. It’s seems like Kimber only one keeps saying that their guns need broken into when their port fail to eject you need to break the gun in. The slide didn’t close all the way you need to break the gun in. So am apprehensive on buying Kimber and wondering if I should hold out for Springfield to be back in stock
@@LifeisGood-ye8rl Also the Kimber magazine is not too good... many say it's the magazine and not the gun.... so I got some Wilson Combat mags, but I do think they still need to be broken in, also they are not cheap... not sure how much the Springfield is. The Kimbers look great and the videos I've seen on the Raptor have mostly been positive. The second time I took it to the range, it had minimal malfunctions. They also need frequent cleaning and oiling... Touch decision you have to make :) - wonder why the Springfields are flying off the shelves? Is the price comparable?
I really can't afford this but almost convinced myself to buy it nonetheless, and then I read this, and then saw him mention it in the video. It wouldn't have even been a big deal, but it's just what I needed to change my mind. I already have two 1911's from different companies. I've got to start investing, anyway.
@@johnnyvivic8730 I have an extra one that I’m looking to get rid of. You could leave your Facebook information if you want me to talk to you more about that. A lot of people have extra main spring housings because they have upgraded to main spring housings with a Magwell. Mine is a Stainless Steel msh that came off a Springfield 1911. But for whatever reason Kimber did the plastic thing I have never heard of an issue but at the same time I don’t know if I feel comfortable with like a plastic barrel even if it was possible if that makes sense it just seems weird.
It's really not a big deal, a lot of manufacturers do it. Unless someone tells you odds are you likely won't even know. Ed Brown makes a nice chain mail type MS housing that is an easy replacement.
@@timwalsh715 I don’t know if any other manufacturer that does it. Springfield, smith and Wesson, Ruger, Dan Wesson, Colt, even Rock Island Armory. Unless I’m mistaken, who else puts plastic mainspring housings on their guns? Now I don’t think it’s a design flaw or even a big deal. But I just don’t care for that on my 1911. Same with Springfield using plastic triggers on their Ronin like. Not for me.
A break in of 500 rounds does help plus always keep them clean and nicely lubed. As for ammo I rely on Remington UMC, Winchester in a pinch - it's a little dirty for my taste.@@GunnySideUp

Why not? Unless it's 100 years old you can dry fire any pistol as much as you want. That myth is so simple minded that it makes me laugh whenever I hear some boomer say it. Even if you broke the firing pin a new one one is less than 20 dollars
@B Great idk why 10,000 is unbelievable, there are shooters and there are talkers. A broke in 1911 spots as consistently as any gun. There are real shooters have 80,000 rds thru some guns. And this guys price sugg is a little high it more like 1300, the avail pushed price pt up a bit but it seems to have settled.

Agree that MS housing is great on a Kimber Raptor. ALWAYS use Wilson mags - always. Kim Pro in a pinch but NEVER standard Kimber mags, ever.
Ordering as soon as my kimber comes in. Thanks
Its the prettiest gun that I own. But it’s little brother the Micro Raptor 9 is my favorite carry

I would love to buy this as my next 1911! Manifesting it now! Right now, I have the Kimber Custom ii and I love it!
I love mine. Balance is perfect and less kick than my cz 40 cal sub compact.
Wish I could carry this accurate beast.
bought mine 10 days ago $1,700 and change. 5 Wilson Combat mags and a background later, I was up to $2,300 and change. yuck. I dig it though.
Those Wilson mags are a great decision.

Any recommendations on what type of bullets to get? I hear some work better than others with this kimber
