Omg thank you! These things have been driving me insane they are everywhere. Just poured the last of my cornmeal and ordered milky spore. So glad I found this video!
@@heatherbulger9714 Honestly I am not sure, because I put milky spore all over my yard 2 days later in addition to the cornmeal. Something worked, because I do not have nearly as many now. I think the milky spore takes a "generation" or so of the grubs to really take effect though, so maybe the cornmeal did something?
@@Aries162 good to know! I'm trying the cornmeal to my raised veggie garden until my shipment of beneficial nematodes come in. Hope my plants survive until then! So many grubs...

Now I don't feel so bad. All my plants with a few exceptions died. I pulled them and they had almost no roots! It was those grubs. Didn't figure that out until this summer as I was tilling the soil to prepare for cold weather veg. There are at least 100+ in a small raised bed. Those are the ones I have found, digging by hand. My chickens LOVED them. I will try your suggestions. Thank you so much! So milky spores AND corn meal. And a Japanese beetle trap on the other side of the yard. Thanks again for the lovely video! Thank you for always sharing your knowledge with us! So I only have a few in my bed where I only grow potatoes which I had last season and I treated with beneficial nematodes but I guess that didn't fix the issue. When I went to plant some of my potato seeds this week I found very small ones in the area I was planting in, about a total of 4. Since potatoes take a while to grow out stem I just ordered the Milky Spore so I can treat before even planting my true potato seeds which still need a few more weeks to be ready. I hope I am taking the right approach.
That was perfect thank you. I've been trying to find a way to kill the grubs in my garden without worrying about what it might do to my chickens and other animals. In think i might share this tip on my channel too.

Best to use until the milky spore takes hold is to generously work sand into soil at roots . Sand sticks on the goo of their bodies and they get stuck and fade away. Also saucers of beer. They love it, get into the beer and explode! Works but is expensive, you go through a lot of beer to kill a few grubs..

Corn meal will not help with snails. Use crushed egg shells to deter snails and slugs. To get rid of snails and slugs, dig a hole in the ground, put a plastic glass in the hole and pour beer in it. This setup is called a beer trap and effective in catching snails and slugs.
Hi , what if there is a lot of grubs , like deep in the soil , how will corn meal be applied best so it kills them ? I had a huge problem with cucumber beetles and aphids this summer, any naturals ways to get rid of them? I tried neem oil and it did help but they kept coming back, had to spray twice a week and I still didn't get any cucumbers....
The aphids i just spray with a hose or brush them off by hand. I also found worm tea to work really well at keeping them and powdery mildew at bay. Maybe it will work for you. Good luck.
good luck with that, put a wren house, they will pick off bugs in the garden, thats why Im growing certain thing in my house with hydroponics, just when the plant is in full production, the beetles come eat it all up
Question: Will the milky spores hurt the beneficial black beetle larvae? Are black beetles even found in garden beds? If not, then nothing to worry about. If using corn meal do I mix that into the soil so the grubs can get it or just leave on top? I look forward to reading your reply.
Milky spores will effect all larvae, it depends on what kind of beetles are in your area. There is research conducted on this by Dr. Michael Klein, Adjunct Professor of Entomology at Ohio State University. Just include the corn meal around your plant on top of the soil and you can also dig a small hole away from your plants so you do not disturb your plant roots and put a handful of corn meal and then cover the soil.
I don't believe that milky spore works on the very prevalent june bug(green fig grub) here in california. I'm going to try neem cake around plants or neem oil mixed as a drench with soap this year as another u tube poster applies it. Thankyou for your organic methods.
Sew Fantastic Only if they are in pots. If they’re in the ground you are good. If they’re in pots and you have a garage attached to your house you can bring them into there and then only water about once a month just a little bit so the roots don’t dry out.
