  • New to The Fast Lane With Joe Tunney? Here's a short, funny video to get you up to speed: • Joe Tunney car salesma...
    The all-new 2019 Honda Passport is built on the same platform as the 2019 Honda Pilot, right down to the 111 inch wheelbase.
    Pilot vs Passport 2019.
    The 2019 Honda Pilot has over 7 inches of ground clearance. The all new 2019 Honda Passport has over 8 inches of ground clearance.
    The Honda Pilot vs the Honda Passport actually is a comparison of cousins since both have the same 280 horsepower 3.5 liter V6 engine with cylinder bank deactivation for increased fuel economy.
    Passport vs Pilot fuel economy: Both average about 21 mpg either with AWD or without.
    Pilot vs Passport interior: Although the Passport is a two row configuration and the Pilot is a 3 row configuration, much of the interior is identical.
    passport 2019 review: In a nutshell, I loved it.
    pilot 2019 review: for several years, this has been my #1 midsize SUV.
    pilot elite vs passport elite: I like the wheels on the passport, but also like the dual sunroofs on the pilot.
    passport elite vs pilot elite towing: both will tow 3500 pounds with 2wd and 5000 pounds with awd.

    Nice review Joe, I opted for a Passport as my kid is grown and I needed a vehicle for camping, with light dirt roads...!

      The original Passport was what ballers were rolling in Seattle back in the day...I don't know how popular the new Passport will be since there's no 3rd row seat, but it's as nice today as the original Passport was way back when.

    This was by far the best review, I have seen. I drive a Forrester now and was looking to something bigger either the Pilot or the Ascent, I think that you have swayed me to look more into the Pilot.

    The Passport seems like a SUV, while the current generation of the Pilot looks more like a mini-van with an overbite! The previous generation Pilots looked very cool, big and boxy and NOTHING like a van...

      They are attempting a slight restyle on the LX and Elite models this year, but it will be interesting to see if they go for more of the same in 2 years with a complete restyle, or are the happy with what they have.

    We ended up opting for a 2020 Pilot Black Edition over the Passport, mainly due to the vast amount of space throughout the cabin. We came out of a 2019 Toyota Highlander, which we weren’t particularly fond of. In our opinion, the mirrors were oversized, making it difficult to see in front of them. Also, the seats felt hard to us. The Pilot seems 100 times better in every way, so far.

      The Pilot is such an amazing vehicle and just from resale value alone it's a great buy. I think it's practicality in the real world however, is what really sets it apart

    Honda Passport is the best SUV in the year of 2019. We loved to have one. We liked 20 inches of wheel and Cargo Capacity with 2nd Row Folded
    6.4 feet. Great and giant SUV of all.

    I had two Pilots now and I love them. I don't like the new Pilot because of the look. It doesn't look like an SUV rather then a Mini Van. I like the square look of the back. Like mine. Why did they change that? Also when is a Pilot Hybrid coming out. I would like to buy a new Pilot but because it still is not a Hybrid and because of the look I will have to buy a different SUV.

    • @everycarSeattle

      Since the Pilot has been around for a few years I'm sure a restyle is around the corner...I'm curious what Honda's design philosophy is going to be since the company is going for the "wicked" look across the lineup, but traditionalists still have a soft spot for chunkier SUV's.

      They have been marketing the Passport for young, active couples but they are totally missing the mark. This is a Swiss army knife for people who appreciate how great the original CRV and SUV's like it used to be. You should send more of your great ideas to Honda...apparently they are listening!

    Solid review, thx! Is anybody unaware that cars have been made all over the place for a very long time now? Many domestics like Ford are made overseas- my 2013 Honda was made in Oklahoma. I think the difference is engineering as Honda is still superior & more reliable than Ford or Chevy! I love the sportier Passport look & front/grill that looks like a Lexus RX350!! 🤙😎
    Also, let’s be honest. The Isuzu version was horrible- their contracts to make other brands was only about $$, not quality.
    I prefer a stick, but LOVE the buttons for wives who can no longer shift into D while the vehicle is still rolling backward! 😉😊

      Good observations...I miss the days when Isuzu's were cool...those days were brief but they had the Impulse turbo and the Trooper and could have been the next Infiniti - but chose to go in a very different direction

    Finally, a reviewer of the Passport who compares it to the Pilot WITHOUT reading off a script by Honda with bias to promote the Passport. I was considering the Pilot and my parents saw the Passport for its looks, and I wanted to know technical specifications and comparisons. Sadly the salesman who we talked to was trying to convince us that the Pilot has a 9-speed and a 10-speed as drivetrains (so I knew he was new and couldn't rely on him for any info.) To me it feels like the Passport is a Pilot with an identity crisis (I dislike the cut short rear end and stiffer suspension).

    • @everycarSeattle
      @everycarSeattle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's more a Honda 4Runner without Honda spending a bunch of money on a new platform. I like it, a lot actually, but the Pilot is just about my favorite SUV on the market. I did, however, rate it higher than the CRV, but I am biased towards bigger SUV's.

    I just bought a 2019 Honda Passport Elite and have about 300 miles on it. I traded in a 2015 Ford Edge Titanium. I did research on the comparable vehicles: The Ford Edge, the Nissan Murano, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the Toyota. After watching many videos, taking the competition for rides to compare apples to apples I bought the Passport and am quite happy so far. The Edge I traded in had the panoramic moon roof and I think that may be one of the things I might, just MIGHT, miss but we'll see. Another thing that I miss already is from the Sync System of the favorite song/artist alerts since the Garmin-based system in the Passport doesn't have that but maybe in the future updates (I can hope). The Honda has almost all of the options the Edge had and came in about $7k less in price and will hold it's value better. Engine sizes are comparable in the vehicles I looked at also but the Edge had the 2.7L turbo charged vs. the 3.5L naturally aspirated in the Passport. I'm not sold on the turbo charged motors. Comparing the Edge to the Passport there were some things standard on the Edge that were ad-ons for the Passport like the trailer hitch (quite spendy), the engine block heater (didn't have put on) and the familiar Sync system vs. the Garmin system (which is taking a little getting used to). I went with the Passport because of the nice ride, the economical factor, and also the future trade-in value.
    I do have a couple of questions regarding some of the features: (1) How do you get the auto headlights to do the auto high beams (it did it the first night I had it and then I hit the switch to turn the high beams down and it won't do it now) and (2) How do you get the auto-lock feature to turn on if you forget to lock it as you walk away (the 10-foot auto lock feature)?

    • @jwrtiger
      @jwrtiger 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i just bought the Passport Elite a few days ago. Here are the answers to your questions and I am still learning too. (1) To turn on the auto high beams: Pull and hold the headlight lever toward you for about 30 seconds and the auto headlight icon will flash on the dashboard. To turn the system off repeat the operation and in about 40 seconds the headlight icon will flash twice. (2) Auto lock walk away is controlled by the infotainment menu. Press HOME, then SETTINGS, then VEHICLE, then Keyless Access Mode, (Are you still with me?), then Walk Away Auto Lock, and then finally press either ENABLE or DISABLE. Hope this helps.

      @cloquetareavolleyballclub978 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jwrtiger Thanks! I actually found the answers to those questions a couple days after that post and set them all the way I wanted. The Auto High Beams is just a quick flick of the headlight controller on the steering column.
