How to install INKXPRO CISS for Epson WF-7710 + why you need CISS if sublimating

  • Installing a CISS/CIS can be a pain! Here's a full walk through of my install of an INKXPRO CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System) into my Epson WF-7710 that I use for sublimation. Oh, and there's a blooper at the end... 🐱
    INKXPRO CISS: amzn.to/36lQPC8
    Cosmos Sublimation Ink: venomous.link/...
    Koala Sublimation Ink: amzn.to/35cSpab
Why should you consider a CISS for your workforce printer sublimation setup?
    1. It provides a heckuva lot more ink to your printer before you have to refill, which is sooo nice.
    2. when you do refill, you don’t have to fumble with the cartridges, you just have to refill the external reservoir.
    3. 1 combo cartridge piece replaces all 4 cartridges, helping to prevent the movement of the 4 chip connections that can cause the annoying *“can’t recognize cartridges”* error common with aftermarket cartridges.
Before I switched to a CISS I had been wasting so much paper and ink when full page prints would stop halfway through because of the "cartridge not detected" error..... multiply the possibility of that error by 4 cartridges, and what happened was nearly every other print would be ruined part of the way through. It got costly and I didn't want to just try replacing my cartridges and risking the same exact issue.
So a CISS was the solution! It has one cartridge piece (w/4 sections and chips, along with a reset button), meaning LESS potential movement of the cartridges during printing, and less movement means fewer "cartridge not detected" errors. Plus, when I refill, I don't even have to open the printer cover! Voila. I can't believe I didn't switch to a CISS sooner.

Some key things that I can't live without in MY sublimation setup:
    Epson WF-7710: amzn.to/3cTEJ68
    A-Sub Sublimation Paper 13" x 19": amzn.to/30sVOPf
Heat Press Pillow 3 Pack: amzn.to/30r4mGk
    Butcher Paper 100 Pcs: amzn.to/2Skfxwn
    Desktop Heat Tape Dispenser: amzn.to/36t3y7G
    WIDE!! Size Heat Tape: amzn.to/3lblSGS

Your timing for this video is perfect! I was working on some masks for a Rugby organization this weekend and experienced many issues in regards to non-epson cartridges and more. It drove me to googling CISS systems and going "chipless."

Yesss, the chipless option is becoming so popular! In general though switching away from single cartridges was the best choice I've ever made in my LIFE 😂

I forgot to mention that I use Cosmo Ink too, Cosmo Ink FTW! Hope you put out more videos about troubleshooting and perhaps some design tips.

OMG! Cosmos for the win! It is the friggin BEEEEST. ❤️ I've definitely been considering doing some walk throughs for design stuff but have no idea what to show! 😅

@@AverageJaneCo - Are you in the Facebook Group for Cosmos Ink? A common question that seems to pop up daily is "Can you sub on Black shirts?" I bet people would dig a tutorial about using the a product like Dyepress Poly-T Plus. Another common question or questions seem to be about troubleshooting the printer when one color stops working.

@@oldmanstillcan I deactivated my personal FB this summer (um, mental health slash distraction reasons LOL!!!!). But I was in that group before deactivating yes! I should look at some questions asked and get some video ideas. Great suggestion, thank you!

For someone who doesn't print many items, the ink left in the external bottles will not dry after some time?

    • @AverageJaneCo
      @AverageJaneCo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

With a CISS or not, the place you'd have to worry about drying up is probably actually the print heads. If you wait for a long time in between printing, that's where it may dry and you'd have to go through the process to clear up and get the in flowing again through the print head nozzles. I wouldn't worry about the ink drying in the CISS reservoir container unless you don't plan on printing for years and years and years. Hope that helps!

Do you have the reservoir box sitting elevated above the level of the actual cartridges?

I am now just getting around to setting my INKXPRO system up, we moved and well... unpacking what a pain. Anyway.. how are things going with the system, still working well? Any new tips or lessons learned to share after using this product for the past 9 months?

I know all too well how much moving sucks! Glad you're getting around to set it up, so worth it. Still working flawlessly! I can't emphasize enough about how important it is to elevate the reservoir to make sure it works right. Too low of an elevation, not enough pressure to push ink properly, elevated too high and too much ink can push through can cause spillage/leaky issues when printing. Good luck! Let me know how you like it once you have it situated!

@@AverageJaneCo Well its going. Things seemed great when it was 1st installed but now it seems there is a problem with the ink flow. I'm following your setup to a "t". I'm sure Ill figure it out soon. Thanks for posting that video it provides great tips.
