    I have just installed my 422gw with hardwire after looking at this video thanks you so much took around 30 minutes

    Thanks for the video, I attempted this today, unluckily the lead we bought from Amazon had a completely different plug to our camera so would not work. I was racking my brains how to get the wires
    To the fuse board you explained it very well also where the nuts are to connect earth! 👍 🙏

    Very intuitive and clear instructions thanks. I've had cameras for quite a while but my Octavia 12v socket is constant live which means constant plugging in/out. Just bought the Vantrue N2 Pro and hardwire kit to overcome that issue. Not a criticism but a suggestion, personally I would advise testing the camera/hardwire install works properly prior to refitting side panel & glovebox as they may have to be removed again if any problems.

    Thank you so much - just fitted a 312GW into a 2016 Octavia Laurent & Klement using your instructions which were clear and really helpful. Just for info - the roof lining is soft in this version and I couldn't get the cable tie trick to work - I just tucked mine behind the edge of the lining. Also, I had to use a different fuse socket on the same fuse row because the cable fouled a relay on the row below. However, I completed the job in just under an hour and, using your advice, I bought the plastic tools to ensure the trim fits perfectly with no visible wires. Well done!

    Great instructions. Nextbase Duo all hard wired into place in just over the hour after watching the video. Well chuffed managed to do it all, apart from the voltage check which was done by the hubby as I don't do electrics! I didn't have the trim tool but used a plastic decorating spatula and my fingers and all worked well. Thanks ever so much for posting this video :-)

    Nice and useful video. However, as my car is still under warranty, I didn't want to pull off trim or mess with fuses so I just fed power to my dashcam from the USB socket in front of the gear lever. This socket is powered only when the ignition is turned on (and it stays powered until about 1 minute after the ignition is turned off and the car is locked). As my phone is connected to the system by Bluetooth, (and charged from the 12v socket by the handbrake) this option works well for me.

    Like the idea of the ring connector. I will do that too, but wondering where you got yours from as Halfords and ever ebay/Amazon do not seem to supply the size of ring connector required for that size bolt? Only seem to come in red, blue or yellow too.

    great video...thank you pg. Sorry to be dense but do I permanently remove the fuse that is the car replacing with the fuse supplied by nextbase? Apart from that everything is really clear and it's all I now need to do.. My garage reckoned it would take 4 hours to install and as an OAP that was too dear for me. Thanks again

    Having similarly installed on Rapid, I found 'tucking the wires away' a bit messy? Would be nice to see how and where you've done this? In fuse box area or side panel?
    I do like your cable tie idea to hold cable behind head lining! Very neat.

    • @DavePawson
      @DavePawson 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also found that the existing fuse simply would not fit in the nextbase 'holder' (piggy back) fitting. Should I file it to make smaller?

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fuse spurs can be a bit tight and in the past I have been known to file a mil or two of for a nice fit. As for the extra wires you should have a bit of a gap down the edge of the fuse box to neatly tuck them away out of sight.

    Hi PJ ,
    Great video. I managed to fit the dash cam without too much trouble by following the steps . Is there a way of sticking the camera mount on the dotted area on the glass around the rear view mirror as I would like to mount it a bit higher but can’t get it to stick . Cheers .Michael

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes,a lot of cameras come with dual mounts,one is a suction cup and the other is a 3M sticky pad mount. If yours did not come with a 3M sticky mount then maybe try searching on Ebay or Amazon because most use a ball socket pivot that can be changed over with ease.

    Just a question. I have a 2015 skoda Octavia vrs . The skoda has a power source and a holder built in on the windscreen . When I turn the car on the dash cam won't come on or charge . It will work fine with the usb connector cable that comes with it dash cam .

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the power source live? if so try a new earth point. If the power source is either not live or low output then go for a fusebox switched power source.

    Hi,,, P.J great video and very informative ,good idea on cable clips to stop cable dropping out ,,,just one question about where cable comes from headliner across A pillar joint ,,,,,is the cable crossing over in front of the air bag there ? Or is it above it ? Thanks

    • @PJsprojects
      @PJsprojects  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It goes above the actual airbag but you can put the cable under the bag easy enough if wanted, they have enough movement to allow the wire to be fed under.

  • @marklittler784

    If your involved in an accident you really need to take the key out the ignition whilst your leaving the vehicle which will discontinue the camera from filming the aftermath though and when using car parks the camera will not be able to record whilst your cars parked there.

    • @PJsprojects

      You must of used a live connection that is linked to stop start,try looking for another live that is only ignition live rather than engine live.

      Not exactly,you would need a fitting kit that has both a switched and a constant live connection or you run the risk of draining the cars battery over time.

      Most of the larger size fuses are constant live or run more important circuits,I would advise buying a mini blade fuse spur really.

      Yes,the one you removed from the fusebox needs to go in the spare slot of the fuse spur adaptor,so you end up with two fuses side by side in the spur.
