@@thegatesofdawn...1386 after they died i left the area where we all lived. i headed out in my stepvan and heard igot a name while in north carolina. it got released after they died and i never heard them play it. it hit me like a freight train. their songs still make me emotional 50 years later
Pretty sure there were "half naked women" selling stuff in the 70's. My father and I would watch the Dukes of Hazzard. You know who Daisy Duke was? What was she wearing?
In watching these videos I've come to believe that what Simon and Garfunkel were to harmony, Croce and Muehleisen were to stringed instrument. These two guys together didn't need anything else. They play everywhere, and entire shows, and concertc could be performed with just them, and their guitars. An Amazing partnership to hear.
I was only 9yrs old when he passed away. I love everything about this song, down to Maury picking on the guitar string solo which is mesmerizing and Jim's awesome voice. I get teary eyed everytime I listen to this beautiful song. May Jim and Maury Rest in Paradise 🎇
I was watching the much-heralded tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King when a crawler came across the screen announcing this tragedy. The saddest irony was that they had been fulfilling a promise to return (at the same rate, too!) to a concert that Jim had to cancel the previous year.
Absolutely love these three and always will. Rest in peace to Jim Croce, Maury Muehleisen, and Tommy West. Even though Jim and Maury were the amazing duo that made magic, it was still great when Tommy joined them on stage! Hopefully I can meet them in heaven one day 🧡
To all lifelong, strong Jim and Maury fans & followers, please have a safe & HAPPY NEW YEAR! January is these never forgotten troubadours birthday month. Happy birthday guys we so wish you were here. An Upper Darby brother.
When an artist can make their live renditions better than the recordings, that’s when you’ve made it. Jim Croce was one of the very few who was capable of such talent. Such an underrated musician
I was only 4 years old when Jim Croce died in that plane crash. But my father was a huge fan of his. He taught himself how to play guitar by buying the same Ovation guitar that Croce used and listening to his music. Now I play Croce's music non-stop when I'm driving.
Jim Croce was truly coming into his own when his life was tragically cut short. I can only imagine the incredible music we would have heard had he not made that fatal flight. He was truly a master at his game! We’ll always love you Jim Croce!
Keith Moon of The Who doing the intro ! That's epic - Keith looked serious for once - that was a nice mood to take up for him. While Jim did not write this song - clearly he had to be the one, along with Maury to "deliver" it to the public & made the song was it was & is !
This is what I grew up on…Jim G. John Denver and Dave Mason! Those truly were the days of simplistic raw talent! Of course I moved on to Zeppelin and many others but even with them…Zeppelin lll was the best…it reminded me of the music like this…acoustic magic with beautiful harmonies of thoughtful lyrics! I never get tired of any of this remarkable music from when I was ten…to now! It just reminds me of better times!!!
@atp1962 I love this music and miss both Jim and Maury Muehleisen, it is a sound you seldom hear anymore. No one to arry the torch forward after folks like Jim are gone. Love guitar and the picking. Thanks for posting
Painful yet tranquil. I was howling with laughter when I saw Keith intro a beautiful artist and how much he's missed and Croce went into his prophetic I've got a name. #Kings #GateKeepers
I got a name! Redwanderer
I've seen Jim Croce in person right before his death I couldn't believe myself that I was Jim Croce The Gorgeous Has passed away Jim's death Brock my Heart I Cherish Jim's Memories an Beautiful voice song's.......... an Beautiful Memories of Just once In a lifetime getting to met Jim Croce in real live person..... Oh what a lovely soul Jim Croce was....... Memories of lovely Jim Croce.

The only glitch here is the canned applause for a song that wasn't out yet. I Got A Name wasn't released as an album until December 1973. Great footage though; one of Jim's last concerts.
Tommy west on piano, and of course Jim and Maury. Tommy was not on the plane that tragic night on September20, 1973. 6 lives were taken Jim, Maury, Robert Elliott the pilot,George Stevens(comedian) Rd manger and booking agent dennis rast and mike cortese. Long live the music and memories!!!!! The acoustic kings!!!
I believe "Operator That's Not How It Feels "/ Jim Croce was on the charts about the same time as "Something's Wrong With Me "/ Austin Roberts i could be wrong
I remember hearing these songs when I bought the "I Got A Name" album just after Croce's death in '73. I remember "Five Short Minutes" but did not understand what the song was about. Just want to leave a note that after all these years, I still miss Jim , Maury and this song.
i got to spend several years close to jim, maury and jims best friends. i miss them like it was yesterday
Yes, me too. Heartbreaking.

Obviously, they meant in such music videos, at least much less than recently.
In watching these videos I've come to believe that what Simon and Garfunkel were to harmony, Croce and Muehleisen were to stringed instrument. These two guys together didn't need anything else. Love the spotlights shining off Maury’s guitar.
Maury Muehleisen. He died in the plane crash with jim and is one of the better guitarists I've seen. His solo music is good too, it's on youtube!
I had no idea he was with Jim. Jeebus.
2 Great Men
Maury was so much a part of Jim's sound! They were awesome!!
Oh hell yeah. Many of his songs would just be chords if he was on his own and singing
Trivia: Jim Croce at first backed Muehleisen on guitar, but gradually their roles reversed, with Muehleisen adding a lead guitar to Croce's music.
So true lebtu.

I was 8 and was huge fan. 48 years have passed and I still am
I was 20
yes i sure they are and well deserved i might add
I was 10. I’m freakin crying here..

They left us early but their songs stays forever.
jim croce and maury muehleisen are the jim croce sound.still knowing and remembering their mark in life.
We miss you Jim!

I'll never understand why the good ones are always taken from us way too soon! Thank you for your timeless music Jim!
Yeah wierd huh and the messed up people get to stick around forever 😂
Though he didn't write this,it remains my favorite Croce song.
To all lifelong, strong Jim and Maury fans & followers, please have a safe & HAPPY NEW YEAR! January is these never forgotten troubadours birthday month. Happy birthday guys we so wish you were here. An Upper Darby brother.
Few days before Jim and his mate ,Maury the guitarist passed away in plane crash..what a wonderful couple they were ..rest in peace Jim and Maury.
When an artist can make their live renditions better than the recordings, that’s when you’ve made it. Jim Croce was one of the very few who was capable of such talent. Such an underrated musician
The world misses you Jim Croce ..........and I do too.
I think I only now realise how much strength this song gave me to become who I wanted to be..,.
Visited Jim’s grave with my wife last week you could feel his presence. Just a couple miles from valley forge Pa🎸🎸🎸🎸
Maury Muehleisen brought me here. He and Jim were geniuses and played/sang so well together.
As a Persian college student, I loved Jim 's story telling.
It's an ancient gift put in music.
Loved y'all forevermore.....

So sad that two beautiful artists had gone too soon. 💔💔💔
It's so wonderful to hear Jim again, after all these years
When i hear jim c singing i automatically think of maury and his guitar playing...cant seperate these two musical icons!
He has that very clear resonate voice. No auto tune there. No backing track. No airbrushed video.
Maury on guitar, Tom West on Piano.
Jim Croce was truly coming into his own when his life was tragically cut short. I can only imagine the incredible music we would have heard had he not made that fatal flight. He was truly a master at his game! We’ll always love you Jim Croce!
Those film scorers sure picked the right act to record "I Got A Name." Jim, Maury, and Tommy brought their magic and did it just right.
Great song
Tragic 😥 that his life was so shory
Keith Moon of The Who doing the intro ! That's epic - Keith looked serious for once - that was a nice mood to take up for him. While Jim did not write this song - clearly he had to be the one, along with Maury to "deliver" it to the public & made the song was it was & is !
It's the Anniversary of Moon's passing.

Heaven is so lucky to have them.
Jim would die only about a month after this concert.
Yes, that is Keith Moon at the beginning.
keith sounds just fine sober.
One of the best songs ever!
Somewhere out there the whole concert must exist
Yah they were great! Haunting songs. Sad ending!
Artists that just maked songs for all times and all history this planet.
Love his music R.I.P.
Still great song after so many years.
He sounded so good live..wow!
I cannot believe he is gone ...
How can it be so ?!?
Life is so fragile, they would be gone a month later...
His absolute best song!! If I had a dollar for every time I've listened to it...happy times growing up in the 70's! R.I.P Jim!!
He didnt write it.
R.I.P. Maury and Jim!
I looove "5 short minutes" so much
Great artist. As I recall, this performance was given exactly 1 month before his fateful plane crash.
Jim.and Maury were destined to live, play music n to leave this earth together!
Jim was such a great singer/songwriter.
R.I.P. Jim
Cool seeing Moon with the intro also!

I saw them on that broadcast "In Concert," loved both songs. R.I.P. Jim, Maury, and Tommy.
My first songwriter I always believe after all the years..this song is about america and the outbacks...adventure and the love of the country
The two best EVER
RIP James Joseph Croce and Maury. 100% Italian. He was Sicilian just like me.

I was rolling down the YT highway and found this nice video!.. most excellent!..
🌹🌹
Jim was a ordinary guy, with talent that was not ordinary.
So sad that he wrote and sang this song about life not passing him by and with his life cut short, it sadly seems that his life did pass him by. : (
What a beautiful intro by Keith.
Still miss him!
Wonderful!
What a beautiful song ❤

It was 20 years later before I found out what the line "She casted me in plaster..." meant! I've missed Croce these past 35 years.
everyone in the video is gone, including the person introducing.. who I think is the late Keith Moon if I am not mistaken.. RIP to all
Still grieving their loss.😪

Just beautiful
Muito bom , sensacional 👏👏👏👏
Who is the guy that played guitar with Jim always? He is really good and the piano player has always been good. These three men, were really great. I miss Jim Voice on the radio
Maury Muehlheisen played all of those intricate guitar parts and harmonized the singing with Jim. Tommy West played the piano.
Einfach einer meiner Lieblingssänger
