James Joseph "Jim" Croce (/ˈkroʊtʃi/; January 10, 1943 - September 20, 1973) American folk and popular rock singer. A typical Jim Croce concert venue featured Croce and Muehleisen in a two-guitar acoustic duet
Maury Muehleisen (January 14, 1949 - September 20, 1973) was an American-born musician, songwriter, and artist best known for his studio work, live accompaniment, and impact on the music of Jim Croce. He died in the same plane crash that killed Croce on September 20, 1973.
Jim Croce is my favorite singer/song writer of all time! It is so sad that he and Maury were taken from us in their prime. I learned to play this song years ago. It is a very difficult song to play.
❤ RIP Jim and Maury. I miss you guys!
I still sing a few of my favorite Jim & Maury songs. fuzzy
Had Jim and Maury lived longer, no doubt they would have went on to create some spectacular music together as they had already done in the short years they were a team. These two men were some of the most talented musicians of their day. Both men were absolute masters at acoustic performing. Jim's vocal talents were some of the best of that time period when musicians truly had to have a VOICE, not an electronically controlled or manipulated vocal range through computer technology.
Maravilloso . Emociona . Un gran talento. Que pena que se fueron tan temprano a otra vida .
Jim Croce was a musical Storyteller
only the good die young
MAY YOU ALL RIP IT STILL CRUSHES ME THAT YOU WERE GONE SO SOON- YOU ALL HAD SO MUCH MORE TO SHARE.
Jim Croce was my favorite singer, at the time of his plane crash. I still remember my Mom telling me and my sister about that, when we were getting ready for school. I really miss REAL music--not the trash they call music nowadays. RIP, Jim.
i got to spend several years knowing them. i still have a hard time with the crash 50 years later. they were great company
I always come back to Jim. I always will.
Maury was an amazing guitar player he added so much to Jim sound now they're singing with the angels
One of if not the best artist ever
I agree 100%!
Jim was good mannered, humble and respected his bandmate.
yes..perfect harmonic and respect.
I agree with you in a way, but Jim usually made sure that Maury sat - or stood - a step behind him on stage and did not (for whatever reason) invite him to speak - although maybe Maury liked it that way. Jim wanted the world to know that he was the composer and Maury 'the band', but Maury's high quality musicianship is the key to the Croce sound. I can't help wishing they had presented themselves as a partnership of equals like Simon and Garfunkel . . .
@@jamesneilsongrahamloveinth1301 I totally agree, some tunes under “Jim and Maury” would’ve been really cool
@@jamesneilsongrahamloveinth1301 He did introduce Maury to the audience at times.
@@jamesneilsongrahamloveinth1301 You're right it is super unfortunate. They obviously weren't aware of what was going to happen to them. Perhaps if they knew, they would have tried to share the legacy. Jim was just more of a frontman and character. I believe that Maury was helping Jim out for the time-being and would continue his solo work, so perhaps he didn't want too much spotlight here even though he truly makes the songs great...
It is said that Jim was not going to continue to work on his musical career and would spend time with his son and wife. Maury, at 24, most likely would have continued and if you listen to his 'Gingerbreadd' album; you can really see his genius forming at only about 20 years old (and only about 3 years into playing guitar at all).
Needless to say, we missed out on a lot and should honour these great geniuses minds because not many people have the chance to hear them.
His band member Maury is a genius on the guitar makes the song beautiful.
How tragic to lose these 2 talented musicians so young....Jim only 30 and Maury 24 at the time of that plane crash. I remember listening to my local talk radio station late at night back in 1973 and Jim was a guest and talked about his life and many jobs he had, he was a great storyteller. I loved him and his music. 😞 💘
Both stars shine extremely bright
Sad, so sad what a tragic loss.
Jim Croce was such a down to earth guy. For having such a short career, he has a lot of songs.
I loved him and to think I grew up within a mile of Maury -is startling but Jim Croce sure knew who to pick as an accompanist
I remember well in 1973.
This is Jim's best song...
agree
I agree!
Only if BBC knew how to use a camera, then we could see the duo in action.
Camera man was a crackhead
makes me reminisce days when I was young...the time I first heard this song.
Jim packed so much into so many short tunes. Really miss you Buddy!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAURY MUEHLEISEN!
Love those two talented men..so early passed away..may their sousl rest in Peace..
I'll never understand quiet people. I don't know if an outgoing guy with a quiet partner is always the right mix. It all makes me feel very sad for some reason. Jim is a massive influence on me.
Beautiful guitar work almost baroque
Wow superb couple these two …taken to early from us .😢 love Jim’s voice
There are some things that death cannot take away but only enhance.
awesome
Once we were lovers
But somehow things have changed
Now we're just lonely people
Trying to forget each other's names
Now we're just lonely people
Trying to forget each other's names
What came between us?
Maybe we were just too young to know
But now and then
I feel the same,
And sometimes at night I think
I hear you calling my name
Mm, mm, mm, these dreams
They keep me going these days
Once we were lovers
But that was long ago
We lived together then
And now we do not even say hello
We lived together then
And now we do not even say hello
What came between us?
Maybe we were just too young to know
But now and then
I feel the same,
And sometimes at night I think
I hear you calling my name
Mm, mm, mm, these dreams
They keep me going these days
What came between us?
Maybe we were just too young to know
But now and then
I feel the same,
And sometimes at night I think
I hear you calling my name
Mm, mm, mm, these dreams
They keep me going these days
❤️
Как жаль...
Fun fact: before the plane crash, Jim Croce was thinking of quitting touring to settle down and be with his family.
Totalmente conservatorio ojalas subtitulada
Not one of my favorite songs
Too good
so true
