My first small brush pens were pentel touch and i have been using them since 2017, i haven't bought new ones. They really last long as you said and are very affordable. I started out with it so i guess i like soft tips. Another small brush pen that i have is zig mangaka flexible which i just decided to try out for fun since it's available at my local bookstore. At first, it was quite good since its very fine for upstrokes but i felt that i need to press hard to get the downstrokes which i am not used to. At that time, i was still a beginner so my control wasn't good, i think i pressed too hard and now the tip is kind of worn out so i stopped using it and just use pentel touch only. I have been wanting to buy the tombow and zebra fudes, I saw them in stores before but i wasn't sure if they are good. I will definitely try them out now that i see your review
Cocoiros actually come in a big variety of colors! The only problem I’ve encountered while using them is that the tip frays over time, although not as easily as some other brush pens.
I like the way they write but the tips fray way too quickly for me, it's too bad because I like them overall but where I live the refills are just pricey enough that it's not worth it for me.
I've tried a few brushpens, and I love the Tombow Fude hard tip...I have a heavy hand, so I'm really struggling with soft tips :) In Denmark they are also sold separately, so instead of investing in 10 colors and only use 3 or 4, you can buy the colors, you need - they are about 3 euros each :)
I didn’t watch much of these video’s but wanted to do some handlettering in my books and quickly noticed those typical (visual) brushpens are too large so I put the Pentel Touch brush nibs on my wishlist. So glad I went with those. I “was tricked” in buying the fine point instead of the brush nib and only learned about the difference in the barrel. But there is a second detail! The Brush tips have glitter AND a Grey Cap at the Bottom where as the non-flexibel original fine tips have plain color without glitter And a Beige Cap at the bottom!
The fudenosuke colors are my go to pens for small lettering and I’ve never had any of the same problems that have occurred to yours. It may have been that specific set of something because I’ve used mine for almost a year and a half now and they’re still great.
For the Pentel Fude, you said you dip them in watercolor?? I saw on the packaging it said that you can dip it in water to get different shades or something? But I'm scared to try that hahahah so do you just literally dip it in watercolor or water?? Like how does that work??
Great question! Maybe I’ll do a video about that! All you do is dip it in watercolor ink. Because they are waterbased, they blend with the watercolor. As you keep writing with it the watercolor ink fades off and it’s back to the regular pen color so it doesn’t ruin the pen 👍
Thank you!!! Finally! THE video that helped me make my decision, which I suck at! I have large pens and I have the blue/black two pack to help me learn, but I’ve gone back and forth a hundred times between the “top” brands, whether I dare to try a more generic cheap set, which really aren’t THAT much cheaper. I’m pulling my hair out with all these pens and brands throwing ads at me!!! Yikes! It’s taking me months! YOU settled it in minutes. You affirmed my gut. I was going between Fudes, Kelli, and Pentel. Then I finally let go of Kelli for now-thank you for that, too, but I just can’t do it even despite the colors and even at a great price if I found them. Lots of strange complaints about them from everyone but her. Love her, though!!! So I was back and forth and so stuck, frustrated...Pentel or Fudes. I went Pentel. I’m glad and I’m happy. They are the best for the money and I love how they look. Bright and rich. Thank you so much!!! Now I can really get to practicing so I can get really good and where I want to be! Plus, videos by talented folks like you are all great to practice as are the drills that Kelli has-work fine with the other pens and she has the large and small. And the Tombow drills work too. Lots of great stuff out there to practice with once you’ve got your pens straight! THAT is the confusing and pretty agonizing part when you are trying to find your stride. MUST have an easy way to see the difference and best pens and select your tool first. I’m grateful for this easy to follow honest help.
Hey there! I’m so glad you found this helpful! Pentel is a great choice and definitely my top recommendation! 👍 I’m glad you’re finding so many helpful resources!
I have the Pentel, the tombows (hard and soft) and the Zebra funwari. I really love the Pentel, but I couldn't find the black one where I live, so I was kinda disappointed, but the quality of the pens is awesome and I like my lettering with them! The tombows are my favorite, I love them sooooo much!!!! The hard and the soft, I use the soft for larger things and the hard for very small things. I really love them. But I must admit that I was very disappointed with the zebra funwari. I waited a lot to get it, but the tip is so hard! And mine just started to leak out in like 2 months! I had barely used it and I take really good care of my pens, so it wasn't my fault. I really loved the video and I must say that your channel is one of my favorites here on TH-cam! Thanks for all the advices and reviews, they really help!
I’m not sure how much these where when you purchased them. But I got them in the UK (the pentel) and they were not that cheap my pack were £40 in 2020. However they did come with the two sets with the pastels to.
Great comprehensive review of these pens! Thank you so much for taking time to do the research on these pens. One note...I own some Kelley Creates small black brush pens/large brush pens and they haven't had the salt build up you mentioned.

The cocoiro is kinda refillable because you by the body and ink separately, but I don’t think it is common for brush pens to be refillable because of the brush tips usually fray before you need to refill the pen

Yes! That’s a really good point! And it’s really important if you are expecting your pens to be like watercolor or waterproof to know what you’re getting!
Because I’m using thin paper here, it does bleed slightly, not as bad as I would expect. If I used thicker paper like HP premium choice laserjet that I normally use, there wouldn’t be any bleeding!

Doesn’t matter. Everyone just calls them “fudes” for short because no one even wants to say that word. It works.

Foo is the same as pronouncing fu lmao

Tiffany Bishop when I first started I didn’t like them either because I started with a hard nib! But now they’re my favorite! Some people start with an actual brush and don’t even like brush pens😂
I JUST REALIZED I FOLLOW YOU ON INSTAGRAM
Haha I’m glad we’ve already been connected! 👍
I prefer Tombow Dual Brush Pen, its small
It really isn't small
@@candycake9531 its a joke man..
@@aimarlangley4156 oh I am very sorry
@@candycake9531 it's fine man
I forgot to add (after I saw the remainder of the video) that JetPens has Bimojis online. I have the medium, and love it!! They have every size from Extra Fine to Broad!
Ooh that is very helpful! Thanks! Jetpens has almost everything!
안녕하세요. 좋은 비교감사합니다. 마침 제가 캘리그라피하면서 사용하는것들도 있군요^^
Pentel needs to have a richer black
I do agree with you on that!
I think the reason the tombow fudenosuke pens are so expensive is because the ink is waterproof and the pentel pens aren't
Yes! That’s a really good point! And it’s really important if you are expecting your pens to be like watercolor or waterproof to know what you’re getting!

How bad is the ghosting and bleeding with the color packs?
Because I’m using thin paper here, it does bleed slightly, not as bad as I would expect. If I used thicker paper like HP premium choice laserjet that I normally use, there wouldn’t be any bleeding!
her leaving the markers open throughout the whole video really triggered me and made my head hurt, like why would you do that 😔👊🏼
Hell no Pentel brush pen is way brighter and vibrant than the new Tombow's. the Pentel pop's off the page, the Tombow is more pastel.
I'd agree that then petals are more vibrant the tombows just aren't as in your face they are just a bit more muted and most definitely NOT PASTEL!??
Kezia Goodman I agree the Pentel is more vibrant! The ink doesn’t come out of the new Tombows very well!
