I had NO IDEA this started as the HP fanfiction!!! Am I just super oblivious? I have been super focused on the fact she completely ripped off The Great Expectations :D Btw, if you loved the drama in Chain of Gold, I have a suspicion you´ll adore Chain of Iron :) But I agree that it was a bit disjointed and messy; after the situation with the demon, I was like "okaaaay, there are way too many pages still ahead, so now what?" Personally, I prefer the period series much better than any of the modern Shadowhunter books, but I believe it will be necessary to have read all of them once the Wicked Powers come along - that one will tie in all of the characters from across the Shadowhunter universe.
Hope you review it eventually (The Dark Artifices) for you to share your thoughts about the series. And yeah, The Dark Artifices were not the easiest to read for me too, but you get through it and the plot is good. But the Last Hours (Chain of Gold and Iron) are definitely better in comparison to The Dark artifices and CC writing styles is at his best when the stories are set in the Victorian & Edwardian era than modern time lol.
TID were my favorite until I read Chain of Gold. Depending how the rest of this series goes TLH might end up being my fav. I agree with you about Lady Midnight. I DNF’d it for a good 2 years and picked it back up and got though TDA for the sake of reading all shadowhunter books 🤷🏻♀️
Just started reading it after reading the clockwork series which I thought was really good can wait to see how this one goes I have all of Cassandra Clare books to I'm new to the series
When you read Chain of Iron you will get spoiled for important plot points in Lady Midnight, just to warn you in case you want to give it a second chance before COI ^^
@@idk-dz Let's say some events in COI are related to some events that happen in Lady Midnight, but if you read COI first you won't be shocked by the plot twists in LM. So I really recommend reading LM first.
I have not watched the full video yet because I have not read any the books you listed in the first minute of the video, and I don’t want to be spoiled for any of them. Is it necessary to read the prequels first to understand this series? If so, which book should I start with?
Were you able to finish The Dark Artifices series the one with Lady Midnight and such? I’ve heard not so great things about that series but her other series were great.

You could probably get by fine if you wanted to start here but I would recommend reading Clockwork Prince first
