I just ordered the book in english I'm getting it as a senior year conclusion since dollar is pretty expensive here😅 this book series was with me through out so many years I'm glad you made a review of it spoiler free.
My girlfriend came home with a copy of Chain of Gold after amazon had delivered it to her place of work by mistake and it sat of the shelf for a couple of weeks. One morning I picked it up in error as I left the house for work thinking it was the book I was reading. I didn't realise my mistake until I was sat on the bus and pulled the book out of my bag so I decided to read it to pass the time. Before I knoew it I was on page 28 and almost missed my stop! I haven't picked up the book I was originally reading since and have just finished reading it. I can't wait to pick up a copy of Chain of Iron and I hope Santa will bring me one in a couple of days! I am surprised that there is not one male TH-camer that has revued the books, maybe I should become the first!
Bloody great review ! I dunno why but this one took me ages to read but man I enjoyed it so much, at this point these are just fun reads, with characters I really like.
I am actually currently reading this book and like what you said, the characters grew on me, but the characters I hate and I think it’s the same for some people as well is Grace Blackthorn and her adoptive mother, Tatiana Blackthorn. Besides that I enjoy the other characters.
Lol. Yeah, her villains in the historical stuff could use some work (I don't think she's had a truly scary villain since the original TMI books), butas you said i don't read for plot ot world-building. I read for characters and ships.
Do you have any recommendations for other historical urban fantasy? I’m with you where I like the historical shadowhunter novels but really have no interest in the books set in modern day.
LOL it kills me that you're not interested in TDA because it is 100% comprised of second chance romances and cute/iconic LGBT couples and ANGST 😂😭😩 but to each their own! I love the historical Shadowhunter stuff too, but TDA is honestly just...chef's kiss.

The one that comes to mind is the Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger!

I unfortunately didn't enjoy chain of iron so I won't be reading the next book in the series
