I have a vintage 70's John Deere 2040 with the Perkins 3.152. This was the most helpful video on youtube. I would add a few things if you are doing it on the tractor like some other poorer videos. It is extremely hard to get the o rings on. You really do need the pick. I made one out of wire. The alignment of the shut off link (the flat one inside) needs to not only be positioned against the studs and off the gasket, but you need to also see how it sits adjacent to the stop valve shaft. It moves left and right and you can miss the slot and be on either side. Happened to me. All went well and it started but wouldn't shut off. When he turns it around on the bench to align it you cannot do that on the tractor, so dry fit it without the throttle shaft spring attached to see about where it sits left and right. Keep track of all the spring positions like they said. And above all, keep all the parts on a tray and label them. One last comment, if you can do this on pavement instead of in the field it will probably go better. Thanks, I would not have tried this without your video.

Thank you Dewey for putting these videos out here for others to view. They are still helping people long after you made them. I was searching for help myself. Got a fuel leak at the throttle shaft on a 340 Ford that am about to tackle. Thanks to you I now know that it's a 15-30 minute fix instead of an all day job.

This video was a BIG help when I did the seals on my pump. I was told that a good value to torque the two castle nuts holding the cover on is 40 in-lbs. Thanks, Dewey, great video!

Great video! I have a Massey 50C and my pump just started leaking at the throttle shaft. I'm glad I found your video because I was afraid to attempt the repair but it looks straight forward.
    Thanks again!

Can you purchase the metering valve link separately. I believe that's what it's called, the thin metal arm with the hook on it

Thanks for your very worthwhile videos. I have a Ford 3400 with 3 cyl diesel. Seems like the injector lines were leaking back when the tractor was standing, had to crank more and more as time went on, before it would start. Now cranking with the injector line nuts loosened produces no fuel to all 3 injectors. Is this a symptom of plungers stuck or worn beyond operating clearance?
A forum guy said engine stop valve can stick in the stop position, that doesn't seem right to me unless the linkage is not put together right. What is your take on that?

I have a 270 massey ferguson. It appears that I would have to remove the entire front gear cover to remove the bolts to remove the injector pump ????

Hello, I have a Massey Ferguson 165 diesel with a CAV injector pump on it. The engine starts runs fine, but as soon as I try to drive uphill, the tractor IMMEDIATELY dies like someone pulled the shutoff valve. The tank is full and diesel pours out when I disconnect the fuel line so it appears I am getting plenty of fuel to the injector pump. Is it possible the 'kill shaft' mechanism could be screwed up somehow to where the tractor is pointed uphill the kill activates? I visually checked the cable and mechanism and it appears okay? Any ideas?

Check the spring on the kill shaft. It needs to pull it into the run position.

would a small leak in the top gasket let it loose prime on the injectors? MY pump stays full but I have to bleed injectors 1 and 2 for it to start.
I got a small leak on the top cover gasket so I thinking this is why i have this issue. Let me know ty

Did you fix the leak in the end and did your problems go away? Mines leaking from the throttle linkage and I have to bleed #1 and #2 injectors also.

Is there a better gasket and o'rings than OEM? I have to wonder if these Ford o'rings are safe for the new diesel

You mentioned torqueing the 2 cover nuts with an inch pound torque wrench, but you never mentioned the torque spec.
What is the torque spec for the cover nuts?
    Thanks
