This is how I broke my instapot- I piled potatoes too high over a pot roast and that was the end of it. There is a fill line that’s about 2/3 of the way up that you shouldn’t pass.
Well I think that line matters more for things like soups, lentils or oatmeal that tends to splatter. I don’t understand how piling potatoes a bit high would cause any malfunction.
Thank you! I need to know things like this because I haven't had my Insta Pot that long but now that I know I have been making all kinds of soup. So thanks for the infor this is helpful.@@hardnine
Great! When i saw your video prepping food for the week., I knew I needed to know more.. I didn't know you could put a whole bag in. I know all bags are not created equally but a small bag would be perfect and i love potatoes! Thank you!!
@VelvetyMoon Simmer. Yes, lid on. Start with 20 minutes then check with a fork. Larger potatoes might need more time. You can take out the small ones if they're done before the big ones.
@VelvetyMoon I thought of something else to mention. It usually takes about 20 minutes for diced potatoes to steam so whole ones might take double. But start there. Be careful not to let all the water evaporate. I add enough water until it's just about at the holes in the steamer basket.
I buy PB2 cashew powder, like the peanut butter powder but for cashews, and measure out what i need so it's smooth AND lower in fat - works great not just for the cheese sauce but anything you need cashews for. And the PB2 peanut butter powder is great to combine with soy sauce and maple syrup for a delicious and low fat dressing. Good luck! :)
I keep mine for a week in a dish towel lined bowl with a lid to soak up any condensation from my fridge so the potatoes don’t get soggy. They keep great.
I use the microwave. If you'd rather not, then it depends on what you want to do with them. If you want to make mashed potatoes, then you could chop them up, add some plant milk or veggie broth all in a pan on the stove and mash together while heating. If you wanted to have them like a baked potato you could put them in a covered dish with a little water to keep them from drying out, etc.
Perhaps she uses hers the same way I use my Breville Air Fryer…to reheat potatoes that have already been steamed, boiled, or baked, then cooled overnight in the refrigerator to make them more starch resistant.
Tip for the senile (like me)... add your water FIRST so you don't forget!
Thank you so much for sharing this how to!!
Can you please let us know how to reheat them? I struggle when them getting hard again.
I bought your cookbook! Beautifully presented dishes and yummy recipes!

The line is for liquids I believe.
Maybe it was just the pot roast 😂
Stick to potatoes and veggies 🤭
If you stak right up to the lid it can interfere with the pressure seal on inside of the lid

My favorite video food guide!😊

Good to see we use the same steamer!!
How do you reheat and make mashed potatos of presteamed potatos? 🤗
Thanks for this Kiki!
If someone doesn't have an Instant Pot, you can do the same method in a stockpot. I think I got the idea from Kiki after I saw how she did hers.
Thank you. Just on high with the pot lid on for 20 mins?

@@cyndij8312 appreciate your reply!

Lovely video. I want to eat more potatoes, so this is right on time.
Thx for the video. Love to Nachooooo ❤
wonderful KIKI you are awesome
fantastic demonstration!!! do u poke holes in the potatoes? i love your cookbook!!!! God bless you and your family
Nope. No need to poke them because the steam keeps them from exploding.😊
do you poke holes in the spuds or is that not necessary?
Hi and thank you 😊❤
Please help! HOW do you get your cheese sauce so smooth??? Mine is lumpy...from the cashews I'm guessing. Any extra tips? Thanks!
It turns out completely smooth in my BlenTec
You’re pre-soaking your raw cashews, right?
@live4avocados616 Thank you, I did presoak last time and it was better! So, BlenTec is better than Ninja I'm guessing?

@NatalieWilliams-mr4gs THANK YOU....those are helpful tips! I only knew of the peanut powder, not cashew:) bless you!
Do you poke holes in the potatoes?
No need to
How long can you keep steam potatoes in the fridge? I mean how many days will they stay fresh?
I keep mine for a week in a dish towel lined bowl with a lid to soak up any condensation from my fridge so the potatoes don’t get soggy. They keep great.
I stand them up together in a square Tupperware or glass container without a lid. They do not ooze & last a week.
Anyone know if this same timing is applicable to 5 or 6 potatoes and not a 5lb bag? I JUST got an Instant Pot free, but no directions.
Yes it is that's what I do
Yes, quantity in instant pot doesn't change duration
What is the difference between steam and pressure cook?
I think they're the same really. 🤷♀️
Steam is with the trivet in so the food doesn’t sit in the water
What is the size of your insta pot?
How do re heat?microwave?

Kiki what happened to your air fryer/oven you used “all the time”.
Maybe she's just "not using it right now"
Perhaps she uses hers the same way I use my Breville Air Fryer…to reheat potatoes that have already been steamed, boiled, or baked, then cooled overnight in the refrigerator to make them more starch resistant.
Nope i don't recommend to fill up your instant pot like that
What way do you recommend to fill it?
Your new video style is horrible! 😢 Please go back to making longer videos that aren’t filmed on your phone….
I for one really appreciated this video 😅
