Getting shouted out by the DeWalt sniper! 🎉 Great meeting you James and getting to see the awesome LeMartes paintjob in real life. Also thanks for the heads up on the email from GW, otherwise I would probably have been too late for the briefing 🙈
btw, the Essen Spiel app did have a live position function, including direction/nav to booths, and event magazines (including maps) were handed out at the entrance ;)
May - Maygos (Ad Mech) August Au-Gauss (NECRONS) Noisevember - (Emperor's Children) need something for when fulgrim and codex releases......Could Have Fulgrimuary but might be too early
Genuinely love this podcast - keep it up guys. I always pop it on in the background whilst I hobby. Back into the hobby after 20 years away - working on a 1500pt Metal Space Wolf army - basically the army of my childhood dreams! Hopefully, once done will treat myself to a Siege paint job for Logan Grimnar to finish my force.
Thank you for sharing a nice bottle of Sparkling Water at the dinner-socials! Was a real treat to talk about anything and everything. See you at Iron Skull '25 !
I got caught on the names for base buddy painting challenge months, so here's a couple of attempts - January - Janupaly November - Novembuddies Some less generic ones February - Februspawn May - Mini May (Like Mini-me!) August - Auggrots Any good ones? xD
My question, movin in two months and I will finally after being a kitchen table painter for 3-4 years now get a hobby/gaming room. So I can start looking at airbrushing. I have handled airbrushing previous and was wondering whats the pros and cons of going for a "mid" setup vs a really good airbrush? My aim is not armies but more evolving into display/comp level painting.
Honestly the epic scale stuff is really fun to paint. I only got a Notable for my Adepticon entry but I found it almost easier because of the small surface area. It’s a good challenge of your brush control too. Also month suggestion - CommorrAug in August for Drukhari.
One of my friends lives almost next to the convention hall for Spiel in Essen and his girlfriend used to work at a bakery. I can assure you there are many places in Essen offering delicious carrot cake.
Guys! Hi from Melbourne Australia! I have to tell you, I’ve been using the hack from a couple of weeks ago, the “Tamiya cement+Pin drill shavings” to weld tiny joints lines together and oh my lawd it works amazingly. If you do see this, I have a question - How do you go about combining old and new models into a cohesive army when the model style and quality can be vastly different? I’ve recently dug out my old WHFB Orcs and Goblins army (5th edition i think??) and have purchased some new black orcs, Im trying to bring the old stuff up to scratch for TOW and finding it a time consuming challenge. Personally I’m focusing on achieving as cohesive a colour scheme as can be had with orcs and goblins, and using a couple of the new Black Orc bits for converting older models. Wanted to get your thoughts on this to see if i’m on the right track! Thanks for a great listen during my morning commute!
“For some reason when I landed in Germany … I had the worst signal ever” Welcome to Germany, home of 18th century quality internet and mobile networks. At least it’s expensive as fuck, so we got that goin’ for us I guess.
You guys talking about epic small scale miniatures has reminded me of some of the gundam pilot's they're the size of your little fingernail or smaller definitely need a microscope for them
Your army in the article is stunning. I have to ask, I notice your Sang guard don’t have any wings, have they always been that way or did GW make you snap them off? 😉

I think you hit the nail on the head, to get a commended or notable is a real achievement, congrats James!

Anyone have tips or tricks for how to avoid eye strain? Every time I have a long painting session, I end up with a terrible headache afterwards.
