Me: "One handed cocking? Sounds cool."
Sees cocking handle dangling next to open trigger
Me: "Uh...no."
It's like someone saw the full power 9mm blowback Astra and thought "Ok, but what if we made it give the user even more anxiety?"
You should try to actually listen to the video before commenting.
I love the redundancy of a tip up barrel and one hand cocking for chambering the gun.
Stupid in normal circumstances, but for a cavalryman who really, truly does have one hand already spoken for, it makes complete sense.
In the early '70s I worked at a surplus store and we got some Jo Lo Ars. Fun to handle but nobody bought them.
Because nobody knew what they were and the internet didn't exist for on the fly research into obscure items?

That look says it all...
A blowback full powered 9mm, no trigger guard, and a weird mechanism replacing one of the core components are all ideas that sound mediocre on paper and tend to be even scarier in practice. So let's combine all of them!
Not quite full-powered. 9mm Largo isn't as powerful as 9mm Parabellum.
@blshouse 9mm Largo and 9mm Parabellum were of comparable power back in its day, as would 9mm Steyr. Largo was actually technically more common during WW1, it was guns like the Luger that solidified Parabellum as the standard.
@@blshouse9mm largo as loaded by Spanish Arsenal was as powerful as a 38 Super, more powerful than 9mm. Original specifications were similar in power to 9mm .
I still want one though
It’s a well made pistol. The mechanism is not weird at all.
I've liked this pistol ever since I first read about it.
Legend says that it was inspired by Millán-Astray, the founder of the Spanish Legion and who had lost one arm and one eye in combat.
In reality, the rationale for this gun was a gun that could be operated with a single hand (i.e. a horseman that holds the reins). And it is also true that the gun was presented to Millán-Astray.
Yeah, it still takes two hands to load, which makes more sense for the cavalry, and I suspect there is no way to make it possible to load one handed without setting it down.
@MrDgwphotos my thoughts exactly.
@@MrDgwphotos Probably you could load with one hand, with some sort of speed loading magazine setup, and maybe a vest, but I think that might still prove to be too cumbersome and weird to really be effective.
Maybe it was supposed to be carried without a round in the chamber?
I bought one of those about 45 years ago for about $150 and it came with 1000 rounds of 9mm Steyer. when I burned up all the ammo I sold it for what I bought it for. I shot the Steyer, 9mm browning long and of course 9mm largo, .38 acp and single loaded 9mm parabellum. It ran fine for all those years....
Thank you for the video.
THAT is an odd duck right there...
Peaceful Skies.
Bizarre. I'm glad to learn about it. You guys never run out of material.
"One of those ideas that sounded better on paper .' Yes, there are a lot of those....
I like these videos pretty lass firing cool guns in around a minute or so perfect
Cool video on a wierd little piece. Someone definitely listened to the good idea fairy!
It's the "Lets make a Lignose Einhand copy, but in the largest and most powerful 9mm cartridge available"
Great Job Mae 🎉🎉🎉🎉
0:03 your face is going on a one-second cognitive rollercoaster right here
Thank you!💯👍!
Should have had Mae sideways firing a Glock or something for April 1 lol
Love this gun so much
This has Star Wars blaster written all over it
One of the better Idea's to come out of Eibar region with that Tip-up barrel. Way easier to use than an Astra in the same 9mm Largo which is no joke for velocity. myself, I'd stick to the tip-up and forgo ever using the cocking lever.
Star is a better all around pistol, got a model B for $200 mint condition
@@stoops187 Sweet deal. ^~^
@@ditzydoo4378 thanks, was def a score
The name of this pistol reads like a computer virus
One-handed cocking makes sense for a cavalryman, but he would still needs both hands to reload it. Perhaps the gun was carried without a round in the chamber?
😮😳 "pulling into an exposed trigger". I didn't notice that.
Whoa that flip.
Интересный пистолет
Beutiful gun😮
It looks like a very distorted Beretta.
With a name like that I had to double check if it came out on the 1st XD
Designer's name acronym: José López de Arnáiz.
In Finnish Jolo is pronounced like YOLO.
Спасибо!
Woah, weird gun.
Whoot whoot
There's a more "modern" firearm that has a lever to rack the slide but I can't remember what it was called.
Seems like a victim of underengineering. if you had a cocking lever supported by a central triggerguard, it'd be a little less spooky.
What were we thinking!
Muy antigua automática,de las primeras automáticas españolas👀🇪🇦
I bet that flimsy cocking handle moving around would become an annoyance real quick.
I don’t know why I’m expecting a beam of light coming out of that barrel 🙈 Think I just wish it was a laser instead of a powdered cartridge 😅
The could have just cut a slot in the lever for the trigger guard to pass through.
Ah yes, the big booty latina pistol. A classic.
Where, where?? (looking frantically)
Jeez the porn bots are annoying.
"I like your channel. It's so creative."... Advertises spyware*
Uh oh it says "ar" must be an assault rifle😂.
Ha what a wacky gun.
👍👍👍
Haha... dangly parts.
My dream collection of unusual- exotic- strange firearms, Webley Fosbery, Mateba Unica, Chiappa Rhino, Lignose Einhand, Norinco type 77, Altor pistol, Trailblazer LifeCard, S 333 Thunderstruck, Braverman Stinger Pen Gun, Constituition Palm Pistol, Japanese Nambu, Lahti L-35, Luger P-08, And of course, a jo-lo-ar cannot be missed!
Mae is cute!!!
Is this the pistol from code Veronica?
👌🏻👍
That is incredibly odd
How incredibly unsafe! I'll take your entire stock.
Every time I see Mae's hand shaking while pulling the trigger is because it's a terrible and heavy trigger. That doesn't happen often but when it does you it must be a terrible gun
I can see the idea here, but oh good grief, NO. Of course, fighting from horseback also good grief, no.
Looks like a Walther P38, but isn't one, and it's very weird.
Sounded better on paper...unless you only had one hand.
That cocking lever looks like it could slap your trigger finger, too.
I'm totally in love with Mae :)

I came here for P.Diddy comments related to J-Lo. I’m kinda disappointed.
Shooting this gun seems dangerous…Thank you for showing it off you do great videos I enjoy seeing interesting firearms
This thing looks like the inbred offspring of a Walther P38 and a Colt 1911.
How did you load a magazine if you didn't have 2 hands free?
Presumably the gun would be preloaded, there just wouldn't be a round in the chamber for safety.
lol where did you dig this thing out of
Mae not happy. Moving on.
you know it’s bad if even Mae is grimacing, even the Reichsrevolver didn’t get this treatment
The Reichsrevolver was ridiculously primitive even for its time, but there was nothing particularly dicey about it.
So definitely not a edc gun lol
Whoever came up with this design must've been on some kind of drugs......
calvary pistol. So horseback. Thought process was probably that the other hand would be busy controling the horse.
The desk pilot that came up with this handgun evidently didn't know that a horse can be (and often is) controlled by the rider's knees. I wonder if it was because they thought the rider would have either a sword or lance in the other hand?@@somepunk2541
Looks janky.
Very awkward
