Wow an hour video on a pistol nobody cares about where over half of it is a goblin giving her dogshit opinion, my favorite kind of C&Rsenal video
ok karen.
lmfao
Well that’s a little rude
Seriously don't know what you ever subscribed for if not the gun goblin
You can just choose not to watch the episodes if you do not recognize the gun. Plenty of us are here as much for the well known and obscure
The Era of The 1911 Ends. The Time of Weird Spanish Guns RETVRNS.
Yay weird Spanish guns.
Reject Browning, return to Weird Spanish Gun
VIVA ESPAÑA 🗿
IT NEVER ENDED!
because nobody expects the weird Spanish guns…
37:06 I absolutely lost it at Mae's deadpan "That was Brandon" response
Concept of one handed semi autos is very interessting. I understand main driving force behind the idea was cavalry but I keep thinking about people that might've lost one hand but still wanted to fire their pistol. Anyway, another great episode!
weird Spanish and Chinese pistols are some of my favourite brands of gun.
Very much enjoyed the episode.
"Did you know that hitler had a tummy ache" has no right being as funny as it is.
1:30
Reports of Hitler's tummy ache have been wildly over-exaggerated.
Direct sources show that it was really just a case of mild indigestion. Allied propaganda being what it is, we now have the myth of "Hitler's debilitating and super serious tummy ache".
This thing is cursed. I love it.
Thanks Mae & Othais!
Thanks!
It’s always interesting when a product emphasizes being different even if it’s not necessarily better.
Great video! Thanks for creating it
6:56 Ha! Othias has finally been forced to pronounce Polish words! You've got no idea how long I've waited for this! And you did remarkably well, I must say. The approximate phonetic transliteration of "Chylewski" would be "Khylevskee", which I reckon you were close enough to, since I understood what you said right away, without the name being written on screen (although it might be because I've recently read a book on Polish pistol designs and Chylewski's patents were described there, along with the same patent drawings you've used in the video).
Hands down the weirdest firearm on this channel!
So far?
Such a cool piece! Thanks guys really enjoyed this one very unusual and unique!
Incredibly neat
Glove Friendly!
40:05 That's only because you're a modern, safety conscious shooter. When this thing was invented you wouldn't have worried about grabbing it so carefully or avoiding putting your finger near/on the trigger at all costs.
Damn, that early modified Ruby (edit: The "Sharp-Sooter") design looks and sounds a lot like a Beretta Tomcat/Bobcat. Big difference being that Beretta used a separate frame-mounted safety.
I don't think you mentioned that by using the tip-up barrel, the pistol can be put on half-cock safety without having to lower the hammer on a loaded chamber !
Valient effort at pronouncing Spanish, especially those Eibar names.
So Hitler was drinking gun cleaner , this explains alot.
If you guys are interested in doing some comedy skits you have some great material to work with. Get some period correct costumes and act out some of these arms contracts. Othias could play the salesman giving the pitch. Mae could be the assistant or the wealthy lady egging her husband on to making poor financial decisions for their respective nation. Maybe you could get some other Guntubers in on it. Like Henry from 9-holes for a Honk Kong sales pitch. Bloke on the Range for some Birmingham bickering. I’m gonna level with you guys. I made this comment semi in jest. But the More I think about it the more awesome this idea feels. I love historical comedy.
I want to see Bloke do his Spanish Gun Industry impersonation on how this thing came about (factual or not).
What a weird gun!
Is Bruno a fan of Honor Harrington? I base this on the Manticore name.
I saw one of these a while ago. Had to pass on it due to being broke.
Shouldn't the Sooter have been a black powder weapon based on the name?
Oh no, now I'm trying to envision just how badly messed up this gun would get if the barrel DID pop up while the slide was cycling. Or is there some mechanism I didn't catch that would prevent that?
This is a steampunk fever dream.
I can picture an upcoming Netflix Series "One-hand Gun will Space Travel"
That advertisement was almost more entertaining than the entire video
Tipping up to show you it's rear of it's barrel.
3:18 how did he know i was eating a pile of salt? I NEED ANSWERS!
I'm certain that the proper pronunciation is like a pirate who doesn't care about the future...........Yolo Arrrrrrrrr!!!!!
When Walther PP series?
Probably not until all the Walthers between the Model 4 and PP are covered
Mae clearly has no familiarity
w/ equitation... more video --
"Minute of Mounted Mae"
Did some Spaniard say Yolo and someone misunderstood him?
I down voted your video as I down vote any video that mentions Hitler/nazis regardless of context.
I don’t even know what to say to this…..like holy shit
@@JamesWallis-mi2xu
Did you know that North African muslims called the Ottomans enslaved white Europeans for centuries called the "slavic race" , it is where the get the word "slave" from .
How many times have you ever heard of the Ottomans mentioned in a youtube video or even in a film ?
Now think of how many times you hear constant Hitler/nazi,
do you think this is random or do you think left wingers and Christian fundamentalist constantly do this as a political tool to brainwash people into thinking anyone who opposed Jews/Israel is the ultimate bad person?
Ask yourself who was running the Holodomor and how many millions died ?
I'm not so sure that Ballistol will like this kind of add. You should delete that immidiately.
We had the company's permission, besides hilters stomach issues got worse after he stopped taking it. The moment we shy away from history is the moment C&Rsenal will cease.
BMW and Volkswagen made cars for the fascist party, but BMW are luxury vehicles and Volkswagen vehicles are known for reliability in the U.S. Mauser was a popular manufacturer of arms that the fascist party commissioned to make weapons for the SS, but modern manufacturers use different components designed by Mauser in their current day firearms. Coca Cola owns Fanta, a drink originally made in Germany during WW2 because of the supply shortages and blockades preventing goods from being sold to Germany. German scientists committed abhorrent acts in the name if research, and the rest of the world still chose to use that research after the Newberg trials.
History should be acknowledged and learned from. Not worshipped, not ignored. Ballistol chose to acknowledge history. Cherish it.
If they had a problem I'm pretty damn sure Ballistol would've killed it before this video released so....
This dude doesn't want the public to know Hitler had a tummy ache smh smh
@@maewinchester2030😄
To many negative comments I believe y'all are jealous of Othias knowledge in fire arms
One has to admire the commitment to solving the "Cavalry Officer on the Pistol Board" problem.
Imagine if the US cavalry got a hold of that lever idea before the m1911 was finalized.
God bless they didn't😂
Now, THAT would have been awkward for John B.
Oh god
Well the cav proved themselves not to be the combat multipliers they were a few years later. It would have gotten straightened out. Maybe the US would have gotten the High Power
@@pkt1213 Yes, but it would be .45... be still my beating heart.
Mom: No Johnny, we don't need a Winchester lever action, we got a lever action at home.
The lever action at home:
Put a stock on it and it becomes a bush gun.
Always cool seeing these wacky Spanish pistols. Thanks for showing these guns that I otherwise wouldn’t have any idea existed!
Pretty funny that the first appearance Hitler makes in this series is a Balistol ad lol
Be sure to put your runes in the right order in order to make this pistol. Jo+Lo+Ar
instructions unclear, i have an enigma in a pistol now
Don't know how but I reversed it and now have a AR-15 made on the Filipino island of Jolo. Runic magic really is specific and unpredictable at times.
I cracked up over "A few rare examples in .45 ACP, which is frankly terrifying", "[Mae]'d like to try it"
It has to weigh a ton, or had an ENORMOUS main spring. A blow back bolt in 45 ACP is no joke
@@jacktheaviator4938 The former, hopefully. A spring really isn't doing all that much in comparison to the forces exerted by chamber pressure.
@@Tunkkis you can add enough spring pressure to hold it closed, but it would take 3 people to cycle the action.
HiPoint says "45 ACP and blowback? I dont see any problem"
forgotten weapons had a video on this very pistol 7 years ago. youtube recommended it to me on side bar.
Firearms technology advanced a good bit when everybody stopped caring what the cavalry had to say. "We have this amazing new technological advancement in small arms that will revolutionize infantry combat!" "Yeah but can the cavalry be bothered to get off their asses and use their other hand or change anything at all to improve their combat effectiveness?" I'm convinced photos of the day had cavalry officers sticking their hand in the waistcoat because they were too lazy to do anything other than hold reins in their off time.
Three things off the top of my head that we can blame cavalry for:
* Revolver loading gates being on the wrong side for right handed shooters
* French 1892 revolver cylinder swinging the wrong way for right handed shooters
* 3 round Berthier magazine
I'm honestly kinda surprised that the cavalry was okay with Colt/S&W cylinders swinging left.
The reason I love this show
They start the episode saying we hope more info becomes available and we need to redo this episode no other channel loves there history that much
the thing with the vascular barrel is that the original pistol was also made in more powerful calibers that used stronger springs so it was really difficult to mount, the first round round insertion avoids that problem
I think I saw that with an entirely different brand of gun on Forgotten Weapons, the Le Français I think?
That actually makes sense. One would hope the .45 ACP model has a very strong recoil spring.
...I will never forget, when Ian covered this years ago, the autogenerated captions turned it into the "hollow arse" at least once.
Hitler: my stummy hurt
Ballistol: 😊
To be fair, Brandon's horse had it coming.😅😅😅
I just noticed 'old gun show' could also read as 'old guns how', which also works. Nice!
*Hungrily looking at the can of Ballistol on the shelf*
"We have a safety issue with carrying loaded chamber. We COULD put a simple manual safety on it, but, and hear me out here, how about we remove the trigger guard and add a dangling cocking lever?"
I love watching Othias trying to speak Spanish.
The first time I heard of this pistol, it was in Shotgun News for sale in .45ACP. Some outfit had a batch they were selling and if I remember right they were so cheap that I decided not to get one for fear it would be a basket case. Now don't get me wrong later in my career as a gunsmith, I did buy some basket cases to rebuild and made a few bucks doing that, but not in this model now days I would probably buy one in .380 if offered for the right price but I don't get out and about much and my need for a handgun is diminishing more and more every year. I still have my bedside M1911A1 and my carry Astra 100 in .45 as well as a Taurus .22LR revolver that I picked up to teach my grandsons how to shoot handguns as well as the old Remington Target-master Jr that dad used to poach deer back when we lived on the farm.
Will forever call them JLo pistols now, thanks Mae!
J-Lo’s AR? Mint. It’s set up kind of like the small Berettas with a tip up barrel
It's not the J.Lo.R, it's the Yolo.R 🤣
Balllistol is great for knives and kitchen utensils made of iron and steel as we'll. I use it for my knife collection. Steel an leather for the sheath.
Hmmm....Balistol does smell, and behaves, an aweful lot like Absinthe....let me do some science....Also, maybe its the Perry the Platapus of the gun world? eh? No?
Not the worst thing i've ever tried. It doesn't have a "OMG Don't Drink THIS!1!" kind of taste to it, like an IPA, more like bad absinthe flavored playdough, but not as salty. Anyway, Don't Drink Balistol, kids.
@@ianhowick it's perfectly safe, however. Expensive, but safe. At least in small doses.
Thank you for this video. The 9mm largo Jo-Lo-Ar is an awesome pistol. ¡Viva España!
You know I really like this design.
Simple, practical and a useful couple of gimmicks
Seems like an invention that wasn't really needed.
If you could carry it with a loaded chamber on half cock, cocking the hammer wouldn't seem to take longer than pulling the lever.
I'm sure I must be missing something.
There must be 50 ways to love your lever...
The JoLoAr just needs a magazine cutoff and it will be the dream gun for late 19th century ordinance boards who are convinced enlisted men are too dumb to understand how gun work if gun go bang many times without wheelie spinny thing.
Any plan on making a video about the Schwarzlose machine gun eventually?
yes, pls send us your schwarzlose
@@Candrsenal Mae the Schwarzlose be with you.
Some years ago the Imperial War Museum in London showed off their Schwarzlose to me from their store. I do note that their is a major ocean between them and C&Rsenal though.@@Candrsenal

Dammit Othias, now I am going to have to dig through my pile of old Hitler books searching for any reference to his medicinal use of Ballistol....😮
On Vacation in Hawaii and I get a new Pistol Primer? Win Win!!
The "tipping barrel" AKA A lady loader...
Love the black and yellow t shirts guys…voluntary is the only way
The open top may have something to do with using other guns mags chambered in the same round you could single load really easy and keep putting rounds down range. Beretta advertised this for there M9/92 series.
“We hope you like our new Streampunk pistol channel direction.”
does the tilt barrel in combination with the lever give anyone else vibes of rifle style magazine cutoff? if you have both hands free, tilt and load, but if you are in a pinch, grab the lever and let it rip?
I've *heard* of this! Now to dive in deeply!! 👍
you see son, when a winchester 94 loves a spanish ruby very, very much................
these shows are just so absorbing. i'v got up and made three cups of tea. they have all gone cold. :)
No one had takenOld Gun Show yet? That's just as interesting as the episode to be honest.
John Wick's European Pistol Collectors edition for assassinations.
Spanish ingenuity 😎
I have always wondered about this pistol, back in the 70's when I used to study Shotgun News cover to cover, I used to wonder at the parts kits for the .45 joloar, never wondered enough to order one though. I like the modern Spanish pistols, I carried an Astra A100 in .45 for several years and still have the old gal in my closet next to my M1911A1 and Taurus .22LR Revolver. I used to have a Llama in .380 but let my partner on the PD buy it from me, I had made a flap holster for it out of an old combat boot from my days in the US Army, wish I had that little guy back again, it was a cool pistol, a mini M1911A1. Thanks for the great videos.
all in favor of renaming the firing pin to the butt boppin pin say aye
Men usually have a longer third finger and overall larger hands than women so maybe it was meant to be worked primarily with the middle and third fingers and the index hold the gun making pinch this the thumb
As a Spaniard, the proper pronunciation would be "Jolo", with a hard J, but calling it the "YOLO" is infinitely funnier, so in the name of all Spanish speakers, I'll allow it
¡VIVA ESPAÑA!
So... George Kellgren actually started Keltec in Spain sometime in the early 20th century? Because this thing looks like it was designed by the same brain that birthed the Sub2000.
Tbh...that dangling lever would drive me insane...maybe it is just me:)
To me it seems like an idea that seemed good and on a static controlled range it is fine or even useful. In combat I can see it being a pain.
I just envision it getting stuck in the down position and severing my trigger finger on recoil.
@@tenofprime Can´t remember with one it was...there was a revolver on which you could cock the hammer with the triggerguard...a mechanism like that just for ragging the slide...that would be useful. But not permanently connected to it.
Thank you for sharing about this beautiful piece. I've been looking for one for 2 years now and I haven't been able to find a single one. Any tips or places to keep an eye on?
LoL My first though seeing this gun Look it's my Beretta 950 on steroids 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😉

I love these videos extending past WW1. Great moves, keep it up, proud of you.
Something flies up in the foreground when Mae charged the pistol, I thought it threw a part.
I see a basis for a great gun for handicapped, women who need to work a gun one handed and other things if that nature carry gun here
Mom, I want beretta 93r
We have beretta 93r at home.
Beretta 93r at home:
Just casually flexing his Johnson
Wait..so this is the ancestor of the Tomcat and the Bobcat!
Is the Sharp-Sooter the first tip up barrel pistol?
Othais, is that Jo Lo Ar Chezk stamped?
Am I correct that this is the first episode about interwar firearms?
If so, then I'm really happy about the crazy developments of the 1920s.
Nope, they have covered a few previously. The Astras come to mind
LOL! What a freaky ass thing!
Dear God
This truly is one of the handguns ever designed
It was designed with all the parts.
