@DontTouchMyVicodin I just looked up "Watson Hates Holmes" and have been laughing for about ten minutes straight. Thanks for the tip there Vicodin, very funny stuff! :)
@AlwaysCoach It is indeed well known... for corruption and horribly biased reviews. If they get their game reviews wrong most of the time, I shudder to think of their film reviews.
@AlwaysCoach But not exactly a go-to source for highly respected film criticism. A review from IGN means a lot more on the cover of a videogame than it does a movie poster - it's like Total Film or Sight And Sound being quoted on the cover of the latest Xbox 360 release. And they can be forgiven for not knowing about it, IGN may be a well known games source but if you have no knowledge or interest in vgs (which Kermode has repeatedly mentioned he hasn't) you're not likely to come across it.
@IgWannA2 It is not compulsory by any means to know about the existence of IGN if you are not a gamer yourself. I don't play video games and I have never heard of it either.
@IgWannA2 Kermode has no interest in video games so would be unaware of and have no interest in IGN.com and what credentials does a video games website have reviewing movies in the first place?.
It's because Kermode is SNEERING by claiming IGN is a nonentity, rather than doing a bit of research to see whether or not IGN has any cache. If IGN gives a positive review to a movie it can increase ticket sales.
I concur with the "load of old pants" position.
I enjoyed this film and the follow up. Much better than the later Die Hard films.
Director Robert Schwentke delivers an action packed, well acted, stylish & humourous DC comics actioner. (81%) (4/5 stars) (positive)
says a lot about the rigorous nature of Mark's reviews that he doesn't know what IGN is.
Surely he's asking for the audience's sake? I had no clue who he was.
hahaha "the Sleepy Hollow Retirement Home"...
Contrary to Mayo's remark that there were a "scarcity of good reviews", it got positive reviews, garnering a 72% "fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes.
When I'm at the gates of Heaven, I want Mark To critique my life!

@Zigzagoony hope your including the video game reviews too, they praise the highest bidder XD
@AlwaysCoach Yeah IGN has been around forever. I remember reading new N64 reviews like 12 years ago over there.
It's a well known site, if you're not ignorant.

IGN.com are well known for accepting under the table deals, giving favourable reviews for money. I wouldn't trust them one bit.
IGN... I look there daily as a gamer.
BUT... I know it is s***!
did simon mayo REALLY just ask 'who's he?' in reference to warren ellis?
*shakes head*
@misterhibbert The writer of the graphic novel.
But film critics usually do, which is what Rotten Tomatoes aggregates.
@IgWannA2 Kermode has no interest in video games so would be unaware of and have no interest in IGN.com and what credentials does a video games website have reviewing movies in the first place?.
IGN is well known to gamers, and reviews a variety of pop culture.
People who read IGN are more likely to not have heard about YOU!
@ryan28487 A manly gaming website?
Mayo seems to be in a bit of a tetchy mood this time...
i loved red
Internet Games Network?
Clearly skill degradation does not exist in Hollywood movies... but hey. :)
Strangely sneering attitude from Kermode towards IGN
Why are people up in arms due to someone who doesn't play video games, not knowing about a video games review site?
And yeah, they are shite.
It's because Kermode is SNEERING by claiming IGN is a nonentity, rather than doing a bit of research to see whether or not IGN has any cache.

fair point, i am just tired of predictable action movies
Malkovich acting crazy? Willis shooting a bunch of stuff? Doesn't sound too predictable ... meh
it was silly, unoriginal, cheesy but for some reason i did quite enjoy it
people generally know nothing about good films
Terrible movie
this film sucks, helen mirren is awful
