A Saturday of West Coast services at Wolverton, heading around the South and North of the United Kingdom. Trains include:

221/1 - Built in 2001/02
London Northwestern Railway Class 319s
319/2 - Built in 1987 - Originally 319/0s converted in 1997
London Northwestern Railway Class 350s (4 Variants)
350/1 - Built in 2004/05 - AC & DC
350/2 - Built in 2008/09 - AC Only
350/3 - Built in 2014 - AC Only
350/4 - Built in 2013/14 - AC Only - Transferred from TransPennine Express
Avanti West Coast Pendolinos Class 390s (2 Variants)
390/0 - Built in 2001/04 - Nine Car Units
390/1 - Built in 2001/04 - Eleven Car Units (Extended from Nine Cars in 2012)

Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. The reason why it tilts because there is a spin to make the train force to tilt because of fast it's going.

Some quick-decision making applied in some cases here with trains sneaking up or about to sneak past each other, think you made the right call on re-framing all of those! The tilting is a mind-boggling feat of engineering when you think about it!

good video those 390s and 221s do really fly. i love the sound on 221s on full power at speed, nice tone from 66044 great crossover of the 390s crossover at 11.25 the 350s was cool overtaking each other haha
Thanks a lot Sion! The fence in between the platforms makes it difficult to get those shots so I think they worked well! I like the voyagers too and I'll definitely be out later in the year to capture them in the new livery! 😀⭐

@@StarlifeStudios yes I held back with the nostalgic traction 🤩👍🏽 of course its not the same now..those 86’s and 87’s carried some wonderful and relevant names 🤩🇬🇧 A moribund and totally railway irrelevant name such as “Virgin Glory” on the side of a Pendolino unit just doesn’t do it for me ha 😀👍🏽 My WCML spotting haunts back in the day were Stafford and Crewe (Occasionally New Street and Euston)..only ever went via Nuneaton once on a post Christmas XC divert between Crewe and Birmingham back in the early 2000’s 🤔👍🏽

Basically, as more priority is given to passenger trains, the signaller knew that the train could run so early without disturbing anothers. Btw, it was a ECS

Can you go to South London when the 701s are entering service in the southwest, do Richmond when the 701s are entering service on that line and when the 707s start heading to southeastern do new Cross and Dartford, Mabye go to Bromley south and new Cross Gate among other stations.

So this is basically like the Acela Express
Pretty much Drake! Except ours is a bit slower (125MPH) and there are a lot more of them, often every 3-4 minutes apart.

I still don’t understand why the APT trains failed though
They say the tilting mechanism made passengers sick
But the class 390 tilts like an advanced passenger train.
Unfortunately the APT fell victim to a lack of government funding and a damaged media perception. The APT-P was pushed into service earlier than expected which led to many problems being felt by the passenger which would have been ironed out during testing. The programme was innovative but fundamentally spent too much money with nothing to show for it..

Awesome stuff. London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway are to introduce the Class 730 Aventra trains from this year and next year with the West Midlands Railway Class 196 Civity trains to be introduced in service this year and Avanti West Coast to introduce the Class 805 and Class 807 IETs from 2022/2023. Quite like how the Class 390 Pendolinos pass through fast.

Why did the front of 390155 have some colour missing?
If there was damage to the front, the replacement is white and needs to be painted
That Pendolino almost became the thumbnail, but the green ones are too dark to stand out against the background.. not a problem for Virgin Trains!

Hi Robert, They can travel at 125mph through this section with a tilt angle of 8 degrees maximum. Although the tilt angle is lessened when travelling slower! Thanks for watching as always 😃

Just don't expect it though, perhaps hasn't seen a lot of enthusiasts, and doesn't know how loud it can be to them
I got that yesterday. The driver was a lengend. Though he used horn “high” instead of horn “low”
Either way, my freezing cold hands weren't expecting it! I'd like to think that one day that DB driver will find this video and remember that moment. I was expecting more horns on this day because the Pendolino drivers are typically good sports 😀
@@StarlifeStudios Sadly, i was trainspotting at Wolverton and i only got the trains on the slow line to horn at me i think the way the 390 tilts it blocks their view of you so they wouldnt know that your trying to get there attention

I wonder what its like for you to have trains passing at 200kmh one meter away from you. Mind you in the east of Brussels you get the HSL2 and trains go at 200 kmh from at least 45cm which scary!!
Its something which is very scary and certainly gets your nerves up when you see it approaching at speed! I will eventually go to Europe and then maybe I'll see something even faster! Thanks Trainspotter 222 😀
@@StarlifeStudios yes I went to Zaventem (which is also the town where Brussels airport is) and there is a gate between pl1 and 2 and pl3 and 4. These gates separating these four platforms don’t leave you much space to go back!! When I hear the annoucement saying “train passage”, which is technically a warning saying to go back to avoid turbulence, but then I dont see the point🤦🏻♂️ Though its nice cause you get to see ICEs and Thalys that go through at 200 kmh (125mph) straight to Köln and back. I went there a few days after christmas and i uploaded the video on my channel. If you want to check it out, go ahead!! See you later

Why so many diesel trains running under electric wires?
It is usually because the ends of their routes are not electrified. However, in the case of every diesel train (even the freight) in this video, an electric train could have been used but it more likely to just be using what is available at the time. Thanks for your comment Ralph!
Some of these are to be replaced by bimode class 810? Which will be able to to the wires. Then only need the diesel for the parts of the route not electrified.
No tilt tho... Will these trains be forced to slow down for the curves?
