Unova they really being making Ash lose way early than expected (Even in 2 Gyms battle where Ash forgot to put Pikachu in his team forgetting how to count, and making a 6 Ash Pokemon v 3 Unova Gym battle losing to a Koffing), especially with the boy way dumber than Unova Ash for a comedy relief that doesn't know how to count about Gym badges and the battle against Ash on 5v5 thinking was a full battle (That is the worst way to lose a battle, if they want to Ash to lose aleast makes him lose to Bianca, The guy with Eeveelution team, Stephan or Even Trip his main rival since it only got 1v1 and Ash barely won that)
The confusion is understandable though since a LOT of Ground type are paired with Rock type which is Fire resistant. When your Fire type gets bodied a bunch of times by an Onyx or a Geodude, your trauma is taking notes.

1 type matchup is pretty consistent. Water type almost NEVER beats fire type, going as far back as Ash's Charizard vs Gary's Blastoise and as recent as Leon's Charizard vs Lance's Gyarados.
Glalie using a Headbutt as a makeshift Earthquake to disturb Dig is stupidly smart. It's all dome anyways, so it probably hits with the force of Tanjiro and Luffy
About Pikachu vs Dugtrio: I remember the fight against Iris and her Escadrill in Black&White where Ash uses Thunderbolt, despite he knews PERFECTLY that it haven't effect on Ground Type, and explain that he and Pikachu uses ALWAYS Thunderbolt because it is their characteristic move! LOL I absolutely love the "Friendly hanshake" of Corphish to Golduck :D. That was the moment where Ash defeated Katie, because she was totaly messed up by that cringe twist XD Somebody said that Ash had to let Morrison get disqualifield.... and this is a big absurdity! Yep, Ash in the end won the fight by a narrow margin, but this is the way that Ash wanted. Despite his flaws he is very loyal and sporty, and expecialy Ash want defeated, or lose, against his rivals in a true fight! Meowth "Puss in Boots" 's victory Pikachu upseted so many fans, but seriously.... he was a CAT and Pikachu is a MOUSE! In the end I don't dislike this league, some battles (es. against Dominick) were not written very well (Corphish suffered too many super-effective attacks) but I enjoyed myself :)
