Johto was my favorite, if you grew up watching it on tv it’s a real experience. As kids we thought that there was only 151 pokemon but finding out there was a whole new region and now we get episodes also learning what that Pokemon was in the beginning episode, the hype was amazing. It was only after johto that we always expected a new region and new Pokemon as time went on. Johto was the game changer.

The games treat them as always being in midair unless you use Roost or get hit by Smack Down. If they're on the ground then they still get hurt by Earthquake
That Ground type point is the reason I'm not mad at stuff like Golem's Magnitude hitting Charizard. He's on the ground right now you're telling me he just won't feel it. With the other immunities it makes sense but Flying feels like it's only immune to Ground because most Ground moves deal with something they don't have to interact with. Why do you think a Flying type is vulnerable when it Roosts or someone uses Gravity. They're just on the ground now.
In the games, I think pokemon can't jump out of the ground when using dig. They just pop out from the ground and punch from there. The logic would be that flying pokemon would immediately go into the air the moment you yell the move. Same thing with magnitude or earthquake. Either Charizard is dumb to not take flight, or Ash is dumb for not warning him. Probably both.
The objective Pokemon series ranking you cannot argue: 1. Diamond and Pearl. This is actually a good series were Ash gets properly challenged and Ash over comes said challenge honestly. Never understood why Charizard Y got slept on. Drought makes him so strong, you can just blast water/rock types with solarbeam. I ran mine in a tournament once, & it 1KO a mega aggron with heat wave. The best part is that everyone assumes charizard is going to X-mega, so 9 times out of 10 they try to counter it with something like swampert, i.e. a free knockout once you megaevolve. Plus you can still learn dragon pulse, which gives you an option to counter the dragon types who might come in thinking they resist your moves. Charizard Y got slept on because people preferred Charizard X's appearance & typing, but I seriously feel that Charizard Y was one of the strongest non-legendary pokemon ever made, up there with megas like kangaskhan that got banned almost immediately. Stealth rock is the only thing that holds it back, and even that can be worked around with rapidS/defog support.
