No it hasnt been the same since Emily McLaughlin died. Lisa Figus was hired to play Georgia as a sort of replacement for Emily when her cancer caused her to have to take time off. Like John Beridino ( Steve Hardy) she was a real trooper. She worked as much as she could until the end. Georgia was a great stand in but no one could really replace Emily. She and John launched the show and "Jessie" had such a rich history. The problem with soaps today is that they always discount the anchor characters. They are so needed on a soap. They provide constancy for the audience.
I love Richard Simmons. I’ve followed his programs and lost weight over the years. These are motivation for my current “living plan”. Those vintage 80s clothes are the best. I just found an 80s skirt thrifting.
August. 6 2024. Love love what you wrote love the vintage clips. Where did you find the skirt. If. I may ask. I thrift all the time in. .Philly aid for thrift is the best. Thank. You. Hope your summer is great God. Bless
Couldn't agree more! I think they really built up this storyline extremly well - with Lesley being so caring toward Monica; with Monica and Alan being so loving with each other (in the scenes that lead up to the AJ's birth, they keep calling each other "love" and kissing); and with Rick telling Lee how important Lesley is to him as a life partner... all this "happy ever after atmposphere" is built up so well only to make what's happening thereafter even more painful for everyone involved.
Lesley is so caring toward Monica. It makes it extra painful when the truth comes out! I feel so bad for her through these scenes and the ones leading up to the birth knowing that her world is about to come crashing down.
So true. But the birth was one of Denise Alexander's best performances. Her shock and heartbreak was palpable. She shouldve won an Emmy for that. It was also a great cliffhanger. I remember seeing the previews for it and gasping at the screen lol. Leslie Charleson ( Monica) also gave an incredible performance . Fabulous story and great plot twist. They dont write stories like that these days.
@@dg-sl5jb Exactly! The depth is totally lacking on soaps these days because they don’t have the budgets they had back then! Even though Lesley is my all time favorite on GH this was an incredible storyline! It was this Lesley/Rick and Monica/Alan stuff that kept me coming back for more! All 4 of them played their parts so well!
I never thought Monica was an evil person. She fell in love with Rick and he loved her too, it happens. Now Bobbie, on the other hand, was pure evil. She wanted Scotty so badly that nothing was off limits, even though he wanted nothing to do with her.
I will be 60 this year I lost 40 lbs last year got threw the holidays gain 5 lbs I don't own a car and I walk everywhere use the city bus to go across town. got a new bike it snowed today waiting for nice weather
Well not just yet but in the future yes lol. I was really glad to see both Doug Sheehan and Richard Dean Anderson go on to prime time success. They both deserved it I thought.
@@dg-sl5jb I thought he left knots landing in such a bad way . Going to Paraguay gunning for Jean Hackney.. I do see abit of storyline Copying.. When Tracy's boyfriend Mitch is shot ..That was used in Season 8 of knots landing when Jean Hackney forces Ben to kill Greg Sumner !! XD Knots is just with on t..
Genie actually resembles Denise Alexander at this time. The eyes and overall features are similar... it's not super obvious but once you see it, you see it.

I agree. They wrote this entire storyline VERY well. The buildup leading to them sleeping together drove me nuts, BUT the built up to the fallout was better and well written. Broke my heart to see Lesley get crushed like that, and Alan too. Monica was ALWAYS his world. Late 1979 and all 1980 was a VERY difficult year for us Rick/Lesley and Monica/Alan shippers. And for us Monica/Alan shippers it would be much longer with the heartache (Dayum that Susan!)
Yes but Alan and Monica stayed together after all this and became a bonafied super couple through out the 80s and the 90s. Ill never forgive Jill Farren Phelps for killing off Alan at the Metro Court Hotel. Stuart Damon was one of the best actors ever on GH. He ranks right up there with Tony Geary, John Beridino, Brad Maule and Maurice Bernard. GH hasnt been the same without him.
d g Yes. They ended up a forever couple; after divorcing and coming back together. And, I like MB, but never considered him in the same class as the others. He is not in that level.
Bev might be a bit bigger than the rest of them but she’s not like huge fat! Geez give the girl a break and let her enjoy thanksgiving! At least she’s exercising….Richard’s gonna drive that poor girl to bulimia!
So that's not realistic? I wondered about that even back then. But you see I'm a guy and I was only a 15 year old boy when this originally aired. So Im not authority on such matters. The only thing I knew then about a woman's period is the popular tampon brands. Sadly my mom used to always send me to the dang store to buy them for her! Ugh! So embarrassing lol.
WTF is right, when Laura talked to Luke about her “period”, I thought no big deal 2day! But, in 70s & 80s I woulda been shocked stupid if I’d heard that convo.. 🙀
That's understandable. Monica started out as a villain who cheated on Jeff with his brother Rick. Then when Rick fell for Lesley she did everything she could to break them up. Then she sorta fell for Alan and torn between he and Rick. Then they started to write her more of a heroine. Alan raped her, verbally abused her and even tried to kill her twice. But she it was her adultery and deceit that drove him to such madness. You may be surprised to know that Leslie Charleson isnt the first actress to play Monica. The role was actually originated by Patsy Rahn. Leslie Charleson replaced her in 1977. I cant remember if Leslie came in before or after Gloria Monty. Leslie even said that on her first day in the role the majority of the cast and the crew were very cold toward her. I think its because none of them were told that the role was being recast. So Leslie had to introduce herself to everyone and say "Hi guys Im the new Monica." And they were like whatever lady lol. Apparently Patsy Rahn was very popular. As a viewer I loved to hate Patsy because Monica was a real bitch. I grew to like Leslie also because she picked up nicely where Patsy left off.
That hospital has never been the same since Jessie died. She was such a kindred spirit. There's been NO other nurse like her.
That's the truth. Loved Jessie. One of my very favorites.

Everyone loved Jessie and she had her hand on the pulse of everything going on in the hospital. She ran everything so smoothly and helped Everyone.

I found GH as a teen in 2000. Watching these episodes and knowing the history of what happens is heartbreaking. RIP Alan and AJ

OMG.... Dana Hodgkin's... Was the same lady who played the Whitaker's next door neighbor.. .Who brought them their Thanksgiving turkey. In 1981.

I never did like Amy.
My son was born in 79, at 8 mos. He was little but perfect, 7 mos is early but not impossible. But they need melodrama..

When did Peter Taylor die? Are there any videos on TH-cam showing that episode, or even a clip?😮.
If you look for the Diana Taylor murder they show flashbacks with Jeff.

I've been watching since Monica came on the scene. I've never liked her either .
