i'm really loving the coverage of this overseas training. i don't know if i'm right, but there seems to be a fundamental difference between each countries approach. for example, germany seems to facilitate an individual athlete's preference and approach in training. max lang, i imagine, use the AM session for supplemental work and accessories and go full form in the PM session. Japan, on the otherhand, puts a lot of emphasis on team training. their coaches gave the athletes well planned out training menu, and each of them will try to execute it during the training session. each of the approaches has its strength and dangers.

Good observation. That pretty much sums it up. If you are an ATG patron you can see team Japan's training plan that I posted a while back. Instead of giving weights, sets, reps it listed the exercises and how much time to spend on it.

I just love the japanese team, its like the way they move during lifts represent their culture, hard work on strenght and form especially. reps reps reps chasing perfection that in their mind they will never get, even if for us humans they already got it long ago

I've always been under the impression that different nations kind of just ignore or snub each other when they're in the same training hall. Glad to see that isn't so haha.

It forces the lifter to "pull" the bar closer to his/her body through the entire lifting motion, how it should be. A drill to help lifters that have a hard time keeping the bar close to their shins/thighs/hips/torso
