Hi. Thank you for this beautiful beading stitch. I absolutely love it. I use 11/0 seed beads. I like using this size as it makes my bracelets look lacy and delicate. You explain the technique very well and it's easy to follow. I am looking for more beafing techniques. I am a "craft junkie ". I knit, crochet, cross stitch, loom beading and diamond painting. I am looking into basket weaving. I am 65 years old and have a lot of time on my hands. I look through TH-cam for different ideas on ll my crafts that I do. Keep up the excellent work.
Wow Karen, you sure are keeping busy! That sounds like a lot of fun! We will have a couple videos coming up about bead embroidery which is a fun alternative to beadweaving that you might enjoy! Stay tuned!
@@EurekaCrystalBeads I worked up a swatch yesterday and found one thing very helpful. Even without you actually talking about it, the way your needle traced a (repeating) figure 8 of the thread path really helped me to stay on track while working, helped me to avoid a lot of confusion.
Very helpful, thank you! I love love love the color of beads you used here! I'm going to try this out, hopefully with the same colors, if they're still available. Great video!
This stitch is actually quite easy to 👊 grasp. Or maybe the way you explain it. Very pretty too. Thanks so much for sharing this. I think I'll give it a go!!🪡🍡👍🧡👍
I like this stitch! It seems a little easier at least to me than right angle weave because the first round of beads is always the same and you only connect with the second round! Thanks for the tutorial!💜
This is a lovely stitch! I just finished my last project and was wondering what to work on next, so this tutorial showed up at the perfect time. Thank you so much!
Leah, love the tutorial... was so funny too, I was currently doing a project, using one of Sonysree’s videos.. the Alhambra motif necklace. Each motif is made using the pondo technique! So I have been doing it without knowing I was doing it... funny! I went ahead though and used some of my 8s and followed your video. Love the look of the bracelet so I will continue and finish one.
Leah, Once again this was a great tutorial and super new stitch. I guess if you use a 8/0 bead and the #2 bead could be a 10/0 or 11/0? Going to try both after I finish this Pondo bracelet. Thanks very much Leah, Louis
Great idea! Report back and let us know how you made out or you can head on over to our Facebook group, The Beader's Nook and show off your progress (since you can post pix on TH-cam) 😍
Thanks for this tutorial! I am a new beader and will be adding it to my to-do list. I am in love with the beads you chose, would you share what colors they are?
I want to learn as many stitches as possible. I love this stitch. However, I can't get the hang of "Hubble stitch" or any of the cubic right angle weaves. Is it possible for you to do a series on stitches common and more unusual or less used stitches would be fantastic. Thank you.
Thank you! Cheers! You can find the list of items used at the link in the description box or you can go here: www.eurekacrystalbeads.com/pondo-stitch/ 😍
Brand new to your channel and bead weaving! Loved this clear and concise tutorial. Thank you Leah! Do you have a tutorial on how to finish this to add a clasp? ☺💜
So I have made two of these awesome bracelets!! BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS - HOW DO I FINISH THE FLIPPING THING???? I can't find anywhere how to put a clasp on it!!! I did see some blurry video where a woman put on a flat clasp thing, but I don't want that!!! Help??? How do I finish this????
Thanks for commenting! There are some pretty ways one could finish a bracelet made using this stitch -- but maybe a visual explanation would be best, stay tuned, this is good tutorial material!
Hi Sandy! Thanks for watching! You can use the technique shown here to make a bracelet or necklace or other projects. You can use any type of clasp you like to finish your project.
Hi there! This is just a tutorial on how to do the stitch, but we will have a complete bracelet tutorial using this technique coming soon! Thanks for stopping by!
@@EurekaCrystalBeads ok I’m just wondering if it’s possible to let me know? Also this pondo stitch is a lot easier than RAW. Cuz when I work on RAW I always messed up. It took me awhile to get used to RAW. For some reason I can’t stick or follow RAW stitch’s law. 🤪🤪
Hi Summer! If you click on the link in the description you will see the full list of beads including specific colors used plus other similar color options as well 💖
isn't pondo stich another name of chenille stitch? let me know if it is and tell me why do you use only 8/0, i use 2 different measure 11/0 and 8/0 in sewing chenille stitch and pondo that's the same stitch with another name. Please let me know if i am wrong and your opinion on this stich, love ❤
Hi Angela! Another name for Pondo Stitch is African Circle Stitch or Point Africain Circle. The name 'Pondo stitch' came from Nick Kap and Susan Mandel who identified this weaving technique among the Mpondo tribe in South Africa and then shared it in a magazine for the general public. There are several versions of the stitch and the one Leah is demoing here is the easy simplified version. It is quite different from Chenille stitch but has some similarities with Right Angle Weave as mentioned in the video. Thanks for watching!
Oh i hope noone is getting andry with me know , but i dont see anything new . Its a beginning with 4 beads put in a circul and then payote around. I dont know how maby Times i used this Methode . Dosent Matter what its getting called jet its not new. But still a great Video! Excuse my Bad english !

There is a differnce between the two, actually! You can go to 6:10, Leah is talking a little bit about it there. In a nutshell, it's the number of beads per segment (4 in RAW, 8 in Pondo), and the way the segments are connected; in RAW, each 4-bead segment is connected to the next one sharing one of the 4 beads, and the 4-bead 'squares' are connected with one side bead, basically creating a pattern of 4-bead squares. In Pondo, each 8-bead segment is connected to the other sharing one of the _extra_ 4 beads, not the main 4. Hope this helped
@@EurekaCrystalBeads Thank you. I know that. It still is RAW. Pondo stitch is a stitch where, just as in Brick stitch, one passes under the threads of the previous row to add a new set of beads. This here is a variation somebody at Perles and co thought would be a *better* Pondo (their words). It's undeniably RAW here. Not Pondo.

Please don't say, "Again, you can skip this bead if you want to, or you can go through it if you want to, it won't make any difference..." etc. etc. even one more time, or, "Now this is where you might have trouble if you can't get RAW out of your brain, " ever, ever again, because one day someone is going to play this tutorial and never stop screaming and bashing her head against the monitor screen until she dies.
lol don't watch it if you don't like it. I personally like to know the intricacies of the technique because knowing where going though all beads or just some doesn't matter makes you more of an expert, you understand how it WORKS. And the inserts concerning RAW give me time to complete the step that was just shown in my own pace without pausing.
@@TheCrimsonPope Dear Pope, I do appreciate your POV. I taught computer skills (college level) and there are several major ways that people learn, and probably as many unique ways as there are learners. You can probably hit the space bar if you need to pause to complete your stitch, and if you need me to repeat that six times, you can hit the "back" button as many times as you like. PS: I would enjoy beading together with you. I think you are cool.
I am watching this video 2 years after it was posted, but I am hoping that you still stock the beads you used. The color A beads are fantastic!

Can you do this with smaller bicone beads or smaller rondell beads?
I would suggest using the bicones as your "A" beads and not the "B" beads... but give it a shot! Just take care since the crystals are sharper.
What do you use for a clasp
