    Thanks so much for this video. Searched for hours on the internet and TH-cam.. You seem to be the only who addresses this. Cheers

    I always match up voltage, for my power supply needs. So, I would use the new USB cable only for the TYT radio & base charger. But, it will over power the Baofeng's base charger circuits, and ultimately destroy the base charger, and possibly the battery or radio. Good video. Thanks.

    I've got newer BaoFeng hardware so things may be different but very quickly...
    (all measurements are open circuit, no load)
    BAOFENG PSU OUTPUTS ROCK-STEADY AT 10VDC
    My 2 BaoFeng PSUs (wall-warts) provide a very stable 9.89VDC and 9.95VDC output respectively.
    BAOFENG CHARGING STAND OUTPUTS ROCK-STEADY AT 8.3VDC
    The OUTPUTS from the 2 BaoFeng charging stands I got with the PSUs are 8.33VDC and 8.36VDC regardless of which PSU is attached to each. The 8.33VDC output charging stand always provides 8.33VDC and the 8.36VDC charging stand provides 8.36VDC. These are both as expected as they should NEVER exceed 8.40VDC output regardless of PSU input voltage.
    CHARGING STAND INPUT UPPER LIMIT=12VDC
    Looking at the circuitry, it APPEARS the upper limit of the e4970 charger chip used is 12.0VDC (I'm trying to get confirmation).
    NO DIFFERENCE USING 12VDC PSU ON BAOFENG CHARGERS & CHARGING PROCESS
    I attached a PSU providing 12.20VDC and the outputs from both BaoFeng charging stands STAYED at 8.33VDC and 8.36VDC respectively...which again was the expected and a very good result. So, I think you "lucked-out" on your BaoFeng PSUs providing just over 12VDC.
    Deciding I could risk losing one charging stand, I did 3 recharge cycles using one of the BaoFeng charging stands with the 12.20VDC PSU. Charging was NOT meaningfully changed with the 12.20VDC input than when using the 9.89 and 9.95VDC PSUs. No components in the charging stand heated up any more at 12.20VDC input than when using the BaoFeng PSUs. The PCB in the BaoFeng charging stand is incredibly simple:
    1x8-pin charging chip, 1xDiode, 1xLED, 2xCapacitors, and 4xResistors. That's it.

    Problem is the baofeng stand in charge base accepts 10 volts input if you feed 12 volts into the base it will overheat the voltage regulator in the base charger unit with creating a possible fire purchasing the car cigarette plug charger of the Internet is dangerous as the feed to the base can be in exes of 14 volts, SMOKING.

    Φίλε καλησπέρα. Προσπαθώ να τοποθετήσω θηλυκό usb στον ασύρματο για να φορτίζει όπως τα κινητά. Δεν πέτυχε. Υπάρχει περίπτωση να γηνεται;

    3600 mAh (3,6 Amp) dividido 0,640 Amp (640 mAh) es igual a 5,6 horas. NO 8 horas, hay un problema en su banco USB o en su cargador que no entrega la suficiente corriente, no voltaje. Para que se cargue en 8 horas el banco USB o el cargador de pared debe entregar 450 mAh solamente, ya que 0,450 mAh por (x) 8 = 3600 mAh. Saludos F.G.L Comunicaciones
