York's battle was so badass, so incredible archeologists digged up the forest where it was fought like it was the Trojan War. All because people didn't believe it happened in the first place.
I was hoping for this one, given that this is probably my favorite song of the album, even more so now that I know the whole history behind Alvin York. Words cannot do the deeds of this man justice. To be standing in enemy territory and having the guts to not just charge in there, but take 100+ Germans captive without flinching is nothing short of amazing. Also interesting how, once again, two events/songs cross paths here.

I had the great honor to visit Sgt. York’s home, meet one of his sons, and see his gallbladder that had been removed preserved in a jar. One of the best childhood memories I have! One of his uniforms and his Medal of Honor are also displayed at the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville which I highly recommend seeing if you come to Tennessee!
York's battle was so badass, so incredible archeologists digged up the forest where it was fought like it was the Trojan War. All because people didn't believe it happened in the first place.
Thank you for this video about my great-great-great-uncle. Our family is very proud!
First found sabaton yesterday, this song got a good story and sounds epic, when i put my speaker at max power
This is probably the only history channel which I like to watch every single video from
Man i love these videos
Thank you Mennie!
"Even Demons run when a good man goes to war."
This may sound crazy but I went to Basic training With Alvin York's Great Grandson. Me and him assigned to the 4th Civil Affairs Regiment of the Texas Guard.
my favorite song from the album
My great-grandfather fought as a part of the 82nd in WW2 at D-Day and Operation Market Garden. Survived both.
Def. the single best song on this album...
"I dance great, become patron!"
TY I was aware of Alvin York....even saving the newsprint of his death....but never knew the full story.
This is one my favorite type of videos on TH-cam. Best of luck to everyone In the band.
Thanks!
@@SabatonHistory you are welcome for that.
00:35 100 years later, not too much has changed.
Being a war hero sounds alot like people constantly bringing up and congratulating you for the worst things you've ever done on the worst day of your life. RIP Sgt. York. 82nd all the way
One of my all favorites
Nice. Been waiting for this one. Now please please please do Inmate 4859!
82nd all the way needs to be played in Prague on 26th of January 🤘🖤🍻
Please play Attack of the Dead men, in Chicago
And in Dallas!
Just play it everywhere PLEASE!!!!
In Stuttgart !!!! LG Alex🤘😎🍻
And in Saint Petersburg, dammit! (The one in Russia :))
@@КириллВольский-ц2ж Bro, Sabaton will be in Russia in spring. They will surely play objectively the best song in the album
"Brigadier General Julian Robert Lindsey, who remarked: 'Well York, I hear you have captured the whole German army.' York replied: 'No sir. I got only 132.'"
Stolen from his Wikipedia page but still, nothing about this epic quote? If you're gonna cover "Nuts!" and "C'mon you sons of bitches, do you wanna live forever", you gotta put this in.
Also, just pointing out that while the Lost Battalion and Alvin York were certainly some of the biggest American stories of WWI, you can't just ignore Belleau Wood.
Sorry if I'm sounding like THAT kind of dickhead. I love this series and this video does not disappoint. Thank you for providing us with this epic series, gentlemen.
i am constantly amazed at the stories of bravery and courage under fire from Sabaton History.
Don't make the man from Tennessee climb down from the Smokey Mountains and stop what he was doing to fight you. He ain't gonna be happy
Can confirm

I love the end with the dancing
Fitting verse for Sergeant York:
Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; he is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
Psalm 144:1-2 ESV
War is a terrible, terrible thing. The PTSD he suffered is incomprehensible.
It is. It really is. And it still happens to people all too often, scarring them, sometimes for life. War is never, ever to be taken lightly.

Okay, this is the 3rd time I can host a movie night based on Sabaton History episode... after The Lost Battalion and the Heavy Water Sabotage. Excellent work everyone. Thank you so much for everything!
