What a haul!! I love to browse through a used bookstore where they have hundreds of mysteries. We have one near me and I love to go. They have old comfy chairs everywhere and don’t mind if you read a book if you can stay long enough. I always add to my TBR after you do a haul. 😂
Even though I’m not currently in a jigsaw puzzle mood, when I saw this series of puzzles I had to pick up several. 😂 I’m ready for when the mood strikes. I believe they have an Agatha Christie one. I don’t have that one (yet). What a glorious haul! I’m particularly intrigued with Murder in the Basement. I don’t think I’ve ever read a “who was done in” mystery. Thanks for sharing with us, Janelle. I’ve added several to my list to check out.
What a treat to get all those books! Such fun! I picked out for my mom to give me for my recent birthday (she'll read them too) several vintage Patricia Wentworths and Pale Horse (Agatha Christie) and The Poisoned Chocolates Case (Anthony Berkeley). I've added your Berkeley mystery to my Goodreads list, sounds so good! I may have said already in reading sprint chat but I really enjoyed Fell Murder. Hope you will too! I never heard of that Agatha play, glad it was put into a book since it never was performed. Mysteries are irresistible! 🤣🕵️♀️🥰
@@TooFondofBooksJH After I read your reply I looked it up and what I read about the play on Wikipedia is so interesting. You're right, it wasn't produced. I forgot to say also that the Winnipeg bookstore has such an awesome name! 😀
I so love the jigsaw puzzle!! A great book haul. I am a huge fan of the scarlet pimpernel series, its really hard to get her books and the one you got is very rare👍. Also the Agatha Christie play, amazing.
Happy Monday, Janelle! What a nice way to start off the week - you have a lot of wonderful new friends there lol. I just finished the third book in the Harbinder Kaur series by Elly Griffiths and loved it, so I think you should start with her book. I need to check out the mystery book store and see what they have. Happy Reading! 📚📚
Thats a fabulous bookhaul, I want all of them! I have the first book in the Maharaja series because of your recommendation (great cover) have to look out for the second one. Hope you have a lovely time with all the books.
What I remember being told about Storey and Staines years ago was that the books were published in England by Jill Staines and Margaret Storey. However, evidently in the States we don't take kindly to books written by more than one author. So the same novels were publshed under the name of Susannah Stacey.
I have seen plenty of others books written by a pair under a pseudonym. I liked that the Staynes and Storey books were just Staynes and Storey. It's too bad they changed it.
Hi Janelle, The Patricia Wentworth book was written in the year I was born😊 I don’t think it’s part of the missile from mysteries but I could be wrong. I also am interested in Some of the mysteries from India. Great haul! PS I remember you talking about the Singapore mysteries and I’m definitely interested. Sending much love your way
Great haul. My book buying has been out of control lately and I really enjoy watching these hauls too. I adore the Jane Austen poster and I'm not even in to JA. I will try her again during Jane Austen July but the poster (and jigsaw) is amazing.
I really love the illustrations on those puzzles. I have the Agatha Christie one in that series (which is amazing!) There is also a Bronte one, a Shakespeare one, a Dickens one.
Great haul! I've not read any of them. The Susannah Stacey ones look fun, but none of our 40 libraries have any of them to try ☹️. It's interesting that you have access to many different books than we have in the US. As close as we are, you'd think available books would be more similar. I'm enjoying A Deadly Brew by Gregory that you recommended. Also, I'm reading The Crown by Bilyeau. I can't remember if this is one you've read or if it is on one of your research videos. It's more violent than I expected. Thank you for sharing your book bonanza!!
It is weird that there is such a difference in availability between our two countries. It's been a long time since I've read The Crown. I'm sorry that I forgot about the violence.
@TooFondofBooksJH It's set in the same timeframe as the Shardlake ones by Sansom. A very violent period. It's not a problem for me, but some of your viewers seem to like those books that are less intense.😊
@@bjminton2698 That's true. Although, I seem to have a higher tolerance for medieveal/tudor violence - although that tolerance is still on the low side!
I love your videos ❤ thank you for sharing your knowledge and your passion ! I'm piking up SO MANY ideas and suggestions 😊 it makes me very happy!BTW Can you tell me what do you think about M.C.Beaton ? I'm asking out of simple curiosity...
This showed up and immediately subscribed, recently ordered and reading One Second After trilogy by William Forstchen, even though I have 4 Kindles, nothing makes for good reading than old fashion book, glad to be onboard!
i also ordered three more books from St Cyr Mystery and other first books of series from my local book dealer in March. But it will take more than three months to arrive here - Taiwan.
Oh my! We are kindred spirits. And I'm only a few minutes in. CS Harris absolutely my fave. Loved the Crowner John series. So sad when they're done.
I love finding a kindred spirit!
That Jane Austen puzzle is awesome!!! What a fun haul!! So many of the mysteries sound super fun.
I just started the Jane Austen puzzle. I'm loving it so far.
A wonderful book haul, Janelle. What a find: Christie's Akhenaton play!!
Yes! I'm super excited about that one!

I would love to visit Whodunit? again in person! For now, I just browse their online catalogue.
I don’t do puzzles myself but I would buy that for the poster alone 🥰another great book haul too!
It's pretty great, isn't it?

I have the Agatha Christie one and I love it! There is also a Shakespeare one in this series that I would love to get.
I've read both those British Library crime classics and loved them both. Happy reading 📚 😊
That's great! Thanks!

I should look into that play a bit more. Maybe it has been performed since the 70's (which is when that book was published).

I love The Scarlet Pimpernel too! I didn't realize that the one I got was hard to find - score!

Hi Debbie!
I read and enjoyed The Pit Prop Syndicate. I am a fan of Freeman Wills Crofts, and have been collecting his books. There are quite a number of them.
He was quite prolific!

I do like the covers in the Maharaja series.
What terrific finds!
Thanks!

Hi Marilyn!
I loved the Frangipani Trees Mystery. If you want to read the Betel Nut Tree Mystery together this year, that would be fun!
Sure! That would be great! Whenever you want, just let me know.

I really like M.C. Beaton! I love the Hamish MacBeth series. I enjoy the Agatha Raisin series too but Hamish is my favourite.
