      I remember when Spigen was the first company on the market to come out with glass screen protectors, when they debut the GLAS.t for iPhone 4S. Even prior to that, they came out with their steinheil shields, which were wildly popular. Since then, they've been my ol' reliable for screen shields. ;)

    I go with Zagg because there’s a kiosk in my mall that puts it on beautifully for a small fee. I don’t need that stress in my life lol. And I know some people don’t like Zagg but I never get scratches, just inevitable hairline cracks, which then, for a small fee, I can get replaced. But good to know cheaper brands are just as good if not better. I just can’t handle putting it on myself!

    My issue with flolab lately is they've gotten pretty expensive. I bought flolab for my XR, but when I came to buy it for my 14 PM - I couldn't bring myself to buy it for full price - and there didn't seem to be a 30% or even 20% code that would make it reasonable price.

    I’ll still stick with my cheap glass protectors - I buy a bunch of them so I don’t have to worry if they get scuffed up or crack because I always make sure I have at least one more ready and waiting to replace the current one. My thinking is if I spend a fair chunk of money on one, when it cracks I’m not gonna be in a hurry to run out and drop that money on another one, leaving me more likely to end up breaking my actual screen.
    Also…. Tell me I’m not the only one who thinks it makes logical sense for the screen protector to *not* be stronger than the screen? Force from impacts is going to follow the path of least resistance and I want that to be the protector and not the screen.

    • @MobileReviewsEh
      @MobileReviewsEh  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great comment. Make sense.
      I'll add that the more expensive ones won't crack or scratch as easily so you don't have to worry about replacing it the protector. If I'm not actively trying to break my device, a good screen protector will last me several months. For the last part, I think that is what happens.

      @@MobileReviewsEh I’m clumsy as all get out and regularly break protectors because my phone is either dropped or in my jacket pocket at work and swinging into corners and counter tops. I absolutely love the work you guys do - it absolutely gives an amazing data set and jumping off point, what I do just works well for me especially since I haven’t broken an actual screen since my 6s plus lol

    • @simracingchannel7691
      @simracingchannel7691 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lol for real. You want your screen protector to crack, that absorbs the impact and saves your screen. Just buy a bunch of cheap $1-2 screen protectors and replace them when they crack or get scratched.
      I haven't had a actual screen crack on me for so long and all i ever use is cheap tempered glass protectors and a bumpercase.
      I cant stand a scratched screen either. Of course these cheap protectors will scratch more easily than some $50 one but if it gets to bad i just replace them and then the phone is like new again.

    Other then drop damage, the worst scratch gouge I've ever put into an iphone was due to a rotary dental lab handpiece running about 12-15K rpm with a #8 steel round bur probably about 2 mm in diameter. I had my phone off to the side and set the handpiece down which proceeded to run across the bottom of the screen about 3/4 to an inch long which stopped when it hit the side of the thumb button on my 6S. Luckily it was on the non image part of the screen in the black part. And no I didn't have a protector on the screen and was directly into the screen surface. The phone is now 8 years old and finally replaced it with a 15 pro this past week... lol Probably used it about 4 years with that gouge and without a screen protector the entire time afterwards. Considering the abuse my phone takes the screen is still in decent shape otherwise. Goes to show you the quality of the glass apple uses.

  • @isramen4756
    @isramen4756 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I havent heard you mention or test some of this. 1 All glass protector will eventually break and crack, a simple film protector will not. 2 once they break the can cut your fingers. 3 they can SCRATCH YOUR SCREEN, (happend when I was trying to remove it). 3 some screen protector leave more finger prints and smudges than others, would be good to test, (its the reason why I stopped using screen protectors after iphone 12). 4 using any of the new iphones without screen protector and THEN applying a film protector will hide micro scratches, you can also use a liquid protectors to fill the groves/scratches

    • @tbread1128
      @tbread1128 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have personally never had a glass protector scratch my screen, they always have a thick plastic film on the inside which keeps the glass fragments together and I have never had a fragment get through or under this plastic layer
      I never used the cheap ones, only medium-expensive (like Spigen and Rhinoshield) so I don’t know if yours was rather cheap?

    • @MobileReviewsEh
      @MobileReviewsEh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it before in previous videos. 1. Simple film protector doesn't offer as much impact protection. 2. Yes. 3. Seem unlikely unless you had sand under your screen protector when you removed it? 4. I test oleophobic coating. th-cam.com/video/iJmBo1TiNzM/w-d-xo.html 5. Film screen protectors show wear and tear quicker. Image quality isn't as good. I've tested liquid screen protectors before. They don't fill in groves/scratches much.

  • @jformaldehydem
    @jformaldehydem 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    While having to replace your screen protector every other month is frustrating, so you don't want something that is going to break if you breathe on it, what you have to remember is that if you DO have an impact, say, you drop your phone, that energy has to go SOMEWHERE. You don't want a protector that is more shatter resistant than your phone screen.
    In many real world cases of impact, a harder (talking about Moh's scale) screen is going to offer some advantages. If you drop glass onto something pointy that is harder than the glass (say, a stone), it will shatte even if the impact isnt hard enough to otherwise break it, thats why dropping a phone onto asphalt or concrete is so bad, youll usually get tiny pebbles of harder stonesr. Harder glass is more resistant to these kinds of impacts. However, it will only save you from having to buy a new protector. Even if your hardness isn't up to scratch (pun), the protector will break but will still offer a physical barrier between whatever your phone landed on and your phone screen, and ultimately that is the point.
    But more impact resistance, like dropping your phone onto a flat tile with no little stones to break the glass like little ninja stones, this is very bad for your phone. Pristine screen protector, broken phone.

Have been watching a ton of your videos and I'll be going with the Mous Limitless case and don't mind spending more for a better scratch resistant protector (sapphire).

    Horween leather is some of the best leather you can buy in the U.S. Their Shell Cordovan leather is extremely expensive (like $600 for a wallet expensive). I don’t know about the sport/eco stuff Nomad introduced over recent years, but I assume it’s designed for mass market consumers. Was that a good upgrade or is the Elite for $40 better? What's your opinion on the older Glass+ vs Glass Elite, is it just pure marketing or is there a protection difference between them? Zagg's website says they are same except for the Elite being a little thicker. I saw your other video but didn't seem to have a clear conclusion due to the inconsistences but it looks like only a few pts different in ratings between the 2
